Same. Has that 'burn it to the ground' intensity. I wish they'd had a bigger budget to take it further.

It goes a little off the wall at the end. The shrill singing and sound effects is ridiculous. Talk about beating you over the head with a mallet with the message.

I also didn't like how they turned an accident in the first one into two accidents for the second.

nuPotA CGI is as good as we're gonna get and it's so good you can forget you're looking at CGI.

yes, the makeup has its charm but CGI for this setting is just better.

it's not realistic but it's competent enough for me to suspend my disbelief

      >I like the costumes cgi will never look real to me

I'm just disappointed we don't see the apes going around in little waistcoats and sweatervests. They don't even give the the crazy helmets.

They don't need to be humanized THAT much.

Besides, the costumes were by in large meant to reduce the need for ape costumes and thus, save money and time.

Yeah they do. Monkeys doing human stuff is core to the appeal of the franchise.

If nothing else costume can be used to make certain characters self-aggrandizing and pretensious.

I hate CGI. But I the CGI for the new Planet of the Apes trilogy is the only one I respect.

I think they make the goodguy ape too expressive with the CGI. Just going by the trailer he's pulling all these disney expressions.

Makes it all look a bit basic to me.

      >i've only seen the first four but they are all kino
For their time period they are surprisingly good, especially when you consider they made 4 sequels in a time when sequels were quite often vastly inferior to the original.

it's an underrated franchise. 10 movies and the only one that's straight up bad is the Wahlberg remake

i was amazed with the originals that they somehow kept it fresh each time

          >i was amazed with the originals that they somehow kept it fresh each time
I think primarily that was because they had a message they were trying to convey with each movie and stuck to it. Yeah it's a little hokey here and there but still overall pretty damn good.

I'd go as far as say even the weakest ones, the 2001 remake and Battle are partly enjoyable 2.5 / 5 films.

Battle's biggest sin for me was being boring but it's not something I hated to sit down and watch

My biggest issue was the low budget that shows. In the title battle they repeat same shots. Incredibly poor and lazy. Highlight of the movie is the journey through the wastelands. I guess all the money went there and the rest was shot in a park outside Fox offices.

It's kinda slow and tedious, but I love how loopy and bonkers it goes.

The new movies just don't have that wild streak of insanity to them. They're like buttoned down Nolanslop.

Why did the telepathic humans just make the entrance to the city seem like a pile of rocks? Why didn’t they make the monkeys start fighting each other when they invaded?
    >because…….they just DIDN’T OKAY?!
At least nova was still sexy
