I'd also add that these guys really look like they're trying to kill each other. Crouching Tiger has some nice wushu but it's extremely flamboyant and you kind of question what the antagonists are going for... Michelle YEEE-OH was slashing at the other girls head with a broad blades sword. What if she missed a block? She'd have cut half her face of
Based and correct. My all time favorite sword fight.
This is from the era where films were built hard on the talent, not vice versa. A studio had world acclaimed and Olympic fencers like Tyrone Power and Basil Rathbone on the phone so they make a fuck ton of fencing movies. What you’re seeing here is two of the arguably greatest (sporting) sword fighters on Earth at the time (one nearing retirement) going at it full speed, though obviously the majority of the fight was choreographed. You can see and feel their skill and lethality while watching and it makes the entire fight engaging without frills or excessive editing to keep you invested.
KINO OF THE HIGHEST ORDER
Just one more tidbit, you can see the flourish at the end the Power uses to open up Rathbone for that killing lunge is identical to the choreography used in Hook when Rufio dies.
Bro this >sword fight on water wheel rolling down a hill >sword fight on top of ship mast in middle of a maelstrom >3 people sharing 2 swords fighting off multiple enemies >sword fight in the work shop
So many good scenes
The ccp has fucking buried all footage of it so I can't find it but there was a famous match a couple years ago between some chinese mma fighter and a wing chun fighter that had me fucking rolling. The Wing Chun dude steps out, does some weird little dance, the fight starts, the mma guy hits him once and then the wing chun guy just gave up and left on the verge of tears.
Apparently both of them got unpersoned by the ccp for embarassing china, social credit destroyed and all of that, I believe one of them fled china entirely
if anyone has it please post it, whenever I look it up I just get some shitty fight analysis channel posting the same shit over and over
wasn't there some chinese mma guy who made it his mission to defeat as many woo-woo martial artists as possible? He was forced to wear clown makeup or something. I always wondered why they let him do it at all

You dummies just keep repeating popular Cinemaphile narratives on topic you know nothing about. Have a tv-interview with Xu after he demolished Wei Lei, gives you some context on what was behind the 12 seconds of beating.
Your picture doens't look like Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith. It doesn't even look like Indigo and The Man in Black from 'The Princess Bride.'
Checked.
I thought it was more along the linesof how they used to be able to do that but somehow not anymore, kinda like how African's used to be kings but don't even know who their fathers are.
I'm sure these other 10 movies you will name are good but nothing "mogs" CTHD, it's a great movie on various levels and no other movie can take that away from it
Great movie but other HK films were far better than the one or two that gained international attentions (mostly thanks to Quentin Tarantino actually). Look up Tsui Hark's earlier filmography, 80s-90s, he had a dynamic style that made his films not only accessible but full of energy and attitude. Underrated filmmaker but big in HK.
I've seen some of his like once upon a time in China, swordsman II and iron monkey which I remember because I liked, but CTHD remains my favorite. It hits deeper, and the soundtrack is fantastic
Try New Dragon Gate Inn, probably my favourite action film of his, also Chinese Ghost Story which he didn't direct but may as well have considering he's such a hands-on producer, his style is all over it.
I don't think so chud, THIS is the best sword fight scene ever.
>chud
Troon, stop protecting
BEHOLD.... THE NEXT LEVEL OF HUMAN COMBAT.
Hori shittu
What's the name of that movie?
How the hell could I have missed KINO like this?
OHHH HERRAR PREASE
YES GRORIOUS CHINESE MOVIE IS VERY BETTER THAN STINKY ROUND EYE AMERICA MOVIE
VERRY MANY AWARDS AND DORRAR YES
Well poisoning
Women are lighter
Shame this was basically it as far as Chinese sword autism kino.
>be average build man
>can beat them both effortlessly
>feelsgoodman
legit no
legit yes
yep still kino
>pull out gun
your move, ladies.
Asian film. all guns, except for Beretta's, are nerfed into the ground
They needed to speed it up a bit to cover the use of trapeze, it looks like they're fighting in low gravity this way.
>That little tap after the thrust in the start
Why didn't she just turn the blade slightly and then do it to cut her?
they wanted her alive.
Are Asian people ever truly alive?
Extremely boring. Average modern wuxia show has better fighting scenes.
Always bugged me that the very first thrust and feint should have connected, because the younger woman's sword could not have been there to block it.
*shoots you in Indiana Jones*
This is the type of shit Bruce Lee left China for and despised but then got himself killed because he was becoming too big for Hollywood to control.
this isn't even the best fight in that movie.
Hero was pretty dope if you ignore the blatant Chinese nationalist propaganda
the jack sparrow sword fight with will in the first potc. thats it. thats the only good sword fighting scene.
I had a crush on the younger one as a kid
It's good but it's not the best.
%3D
Watch this. It looks like it's going to be cheese but it's pretty fucking intense. Male egos clashing are far more kino than female

The way these two men dressed and moved was absolutely not flamboyant at all
Based and correct. My all time favorite sword fight.

Nigga hasn't seen pirates of the Carribean lmao

>yousaa bombaat warrior
>How the fuck did they do it?
Mostly with stunt doubles.
Yeoh barely does half of it herself
Good editing.
Good stunt team.
Merit-based casting
That simple. That’s really all there is to making a good action film.
Enjoy having your women fly around hokey pokey
>fly around hokey pokey
The ending of duel to death is literally flying around hokey pokey you homosexual.
>retarded chink flailing
No. Even other asians generally do it much better
Reminder that chinks LITERALLY believe all this stuff is real and martial arts really work this way

That's not Fearless.
i don't get it, why attach a bunch of rings to the sword and fuck up it's integrity?
Adds to the weight of the sword for a character who's already a power-hitter.
It looks cool
JFC why didn't we let the Chinks make Star Wars?
here is MY POST getting ready to take THIS THREAD into page 10
I think you need to watch more movies.

is this an hommage to CTHD ?
Kung Fu Jungle was a homage to HK martial arts movies in general.
Another one

chinese swords are feminine weapons
They make cooler sounds when swinging than broadswords at least.
ENTER THE YEN
What movie is this
Seven Swords
>itt: op hasn't seen a single 70s-80s shaw bros movie or 80s golden harvest
Crouching Tiger isn't even top 10 HK, literally any Tsui Hark film mogs it entirely. Watch New Dragon Gate Inn.
I'm sure these other 10 movies you will name are good but nothing "mogs" CTHD, it's a great movie on various levels and no other movie can take that away from it

REAL KINO also the Zorro one looked real nice.
Does kicking women in the cunt really hurt?
Stupid sexy short hair asian girls in baggy pants
What's its name?
She Shoots Straight

It's the Deulists (1977)
Anyone posting anything else is wrong. The end.
swords =/= sabres
also you're a pleb
The swords are all wiggly. Lame.
I'll wiggle you
ha okay that's pretty based
Here's another
Yeah, no.
This was also the only good scene in the entire movie
