WW1984 was during covid and went straight to streaming, can't include it in comparisons.

            Yes, you can.
Take a look at this. All the movies that came out during the same period and were also displaying both at theaters and streaming at the same time. They all made money other than WW84 and TSS.

              >They all made money
NTA but I'm gunna need a source on that, especially Malignant. WW84 and The Suicide Squad are in that 'asterisk' territory. I think the former is proof that the first one was successful because Snyder was still producing and guiding the story.

                Anonymous

They did. Not as well they'd make if WB hadn't release those movies on their streaming app at the same time but enough money to not be outright bombs like TSS and WW84.

Hell, i remember back then that the Snyder's autists were marketing Ryan Reynolds' Free Guy just so they could make that movie beat TSS at the box office, since they came out during the same month.

    >have 7 flops in a row
    >obvious choice is to reboot the series with a solid, pre-planned structure that doesn't oversaturate its own market
    >instead he's returning to nobody characters and large ensemble movies
    >he isn't rebooting the series and is instead focusing on characters he made beforehand
I hope the first movie in this new Gunn DC universe flops so hard warner goes under.

Why are DC starting over again when the superhero-box-office-hit ship has sailed? Surely there's only a couple of years left in the superhero tank, even Marvel movies are no longer guaranteed hits.

To this day I still don't know what Blue Beetle's powers are or what he's about.

Also as I remember he's an early example of brownwashing. They replaced white Blue Beetle with young hispanic Jamie. Now apparently it's permanent and BB has always been the Hispanic hero (which is the only thing I know about the character). I don't actually have a huge problem with this btw, but the dynamic of it is interesting.

There was a lot of coping with people saying 'it could hit 30-40 million!'

The bottom pessimistic (realistic) end was 25 million, which is what it hit.

If it had hit 40 million, there's a chance it would've hit the ~250 it needed to break even. It will not.
