Blood of Zeus

>giant-worshipping humans, who get corrupted to look like stereotypical Demons, get called the Demons (this is not how Greeks saw Daimons)
>we Gods have a strict non-interventionist policy (at least Zeus said it‘s to make Humans strong in face of adversity, which is a Pagan motive, but this is unnecessarily moralized)
>Gods get judged like mortals are according to a „good & evil“ moral system not „glory/honor & shame“ like Pagans
>I don’t want to rule, I don’t want power - protagonist seeks to change hierarchical power systems and rejects an authority position of an hierarchy
>prophecy of the One will save us all (this is basically just almost blatant Christianity)
>the Goddess of the kitchen fire is correctly portrayed as not a real warrior, but she still summons „fire magic“ and fights on her own (a normal mortal soldier would be able to btfo the goddess of the hearth, she isn’t supposed to fight, she literally represents the kitchen fire)
>Apollo is bisexual meme and is shown to sleep with a twink in bed like they are a married couple (Greeks kept their women at home, they were barely part of public life, so the most extreme expression form of normal male sexuality would be to have intercrucial sex with a young beardless man to simulate real sex like that with a woman, that would still be seen as excess and you certainly wouldn’t treat that guy as your wife)
>zero sexual tension between male protagonist and his Amazon companion, in fact he doesn’t seem to have sexual or romantic interest at all
>the main demon guy is a tragic villain-protagonist figure and everyone needs to figure out how to ethically and morally save him (this is not how Hellenic Greeks would think)
>Hades outside Elysium is depicted as extreme suffering and torture for the souls there, instead of a tragic, sad place

You can't have a comic or a cartoon portraying ancient greek mythology and religion from a "faithful adherent" pov, the public wouldn't follow, they would find it strange and unpalatable, even more in a protestant country like US

Greeks were batshit. I don't know what protestantism is supposed to have to do with it unless in a vague judeo-christian values sense, but it would definitely be a culture shock.

Don't forget the Midnight black african that has no business being there, but worships the True G-d and has a scene for no reason where he fricks two demi-goddesses.

The Aethiope is clearly stated in source material to be tight with Zeus, not with some shepherd god.

Nah you don't frick with gods. If you learned just one thing from Greek myth I'd think it would be that. She wouldn't shoot fire at you, she'd just burn your house down with your wife and kids inside.

Ares was always an butthole. You want Mars, they aren't really the same.

An butthole sure. But not a rapist lol. Like let him be a wienery dipshit without making some evil creepy scumbag.

IIRC he seems to exist in the surviving literature mostly for the purpose of getting dunked on by Athena. Mars is less of a shit, but on the other hand Mars is explicitly a rapist. Not a lot of non-rapey gods in Greco-Roman mythology, even the goddesses rape.

Ares is the God of the common man, who leaves his farm to go to war. He is the primal masculinity of man, he is the representation of the rage and primal blood lust such men would discover in the field of battle. He is an Alpha Male and not just bragging about his skills, but can back them up. His portrayal is pretty good and accurate. You get the impression the writers of the show don’t want to think of him as evil, even if he is an antagonist.

Never mind they made him a rapist and butthole again lmaooo sick of this shit. A webcomic and video game did ares better.

I mean Ares would definitely be a God that rapes. He is the God of the common soldiers. They raped every time they took a city. That was the expectation of everyone involved.
He is also very dominant and wants others to submit. But I don’t think they want him to portray as just an evil man. He needs a scene where he is shown to embrace comradery with other Gods.

      >the Goddess of the kitchen fire is correctly portrayed as not a real warrior, but she still summons „fire magic“ and fights on her own (a normal mortal soldier would be able to btfo the goddess of the hearth, she isn’t supposed to fight, she literally represents the kitchen fire)
This is straight up not true. Hestia was a pretty important goddess representing the hearth and the safety of home and you are reducing her importance to "fire kitchen". Kinda shows how biased you are and that your perspective on the show should not be trusted.

Yeah, she was important. But Gods aren’t marvel superheroes. That‘s all I wanted to say, nothing more. She shouldn’t be a warrior with a fire-based moveset. But granted the show did portray her as a somewhat meek figure, who wasn’t as proficient at fighting as the other Gods.

He did not rape anyone. That’s what makes him stand out from shitters like Poseidon but noooo positron always gets the good portrayals.

I mean if you are referring to Medusa, that was a later addition by poets. The medusa myth was probably a typical Indo-European (Aryan) dragon/serpent-killing myth, which might represent the destruction of the neolithic people, who lived in Greece, before the Greeks came.

And idk. It‘s fine for a God to rape, especially if he is the God of War. When a city lost a siege and was sacked, that was the fate of the female population. Rape doesn’t have to be hyper-violent like it‘s depicted today. It can also appear much more consensual, where some women offer themselves before being ordered to, to make it less traumatizing for themselves.

We know exactly how a believing Greek thought the gods would fight, including a notably wussy god, because he made this long poem about it

You aren't wrong but I mean the Iliad, if that wasn't obvious. If it wasn't popular mythology to begin with then it sure as shit became so.
