Also how come fricking cosplayers can do her more justice than a multimillion dollar movie that was made AFTER they already got it right the first time?
Probably that Rythm and Hues, the company that handled her effects, got so big as a result of the first 3 xmen movies that many of the people responsible for her look in the first trilogy simply weren't there anymore, and they had to bring in fresher faces in 2010 to do her stuff.
Also, the movie had like 5 different FX crews, so it's entirely possible that Mystique's budget was slashed some.
The woman who played Oola had a brother who was working with Lucasfilm. When it came to the special editions they brought back the original actress to film more scenes despite it being years later.
