I've been meaning to rewatch this kino, thanks for the reminder. Sellers is fricking hilarious, I'd trade every living modern comedian to have Sellers back. I particularly like how he gets the little Chinaman to attack him randomly

I recommend watching the credits sequence of Being There that is an extended blooper scene.

        Great movie.

A Shot in the Dark, ironically the only one that doesn't have "The Pink Panther" in the title, but it's the only one that is good from beginning to end.

"The Pink Panther" is mostly not about Clouseau, it's a pretty good caper movie that would have been better if they could have got Cary Grant instead of David Niven to play the gentleman thief who is the actual star.

"Return of the Pink Panther" has some very funny scenes with Clouseau but a lot of the movie is, again, about the gentleman thief (now played by Christopher Plummer, who's miscast). It has the best title sequence though.

"The Pink Panther Strikes Again" has the least filler of any movie except "Shot in the Dark" but the set pieces aren't as good overall.

"Revenge of the Pink Panther" was made when Sellers and the director were barely talking and has a tremendous amount of filler.

And then Sellers died and Edwards made back-to-back Pink Panther movies anyway, meaning four consecutive hourse of nothing but filler.

Gen-X here. I very clearly remember the first time I watched Smokey and the Bandit. It was at the Governor Ritchie Drive In in Glen Burnie MD. I do not remember the first time I watched Star Wars that same year. It might be because I was at a theater in Ocean City NJ that I never went to before or since. I don't actually remember being there just my parents telling me that's where it was.

It"s up there with 'Fawlty Towers'. It stays funny even though you've seen the punchline a thousand times before. I miss watching comedies with my dad. He had a laughter that could fill a room. Since he died, I've realized Monty Python is quite shit and I can't enjoy it on my own. His laughtrack was half the fun. When I'm alone in a room and I burst out laughing, I know something is really funny.

I had two laughing bros when I was a kid. We would laugh again and again at the same joke, so much it made my stomach hurt. When I grew up, I had a jaw problem. When I laughed, my jaw would hurt. I told my dad about it and of course the butthole would do anything to keep me laughing. The more pain I had the more hilarious it got.

He would also read 'Tom Sharpe' on the toilet and comic books. Suddenly you'd hear a roaring laughter coming from the toilet. Never read 'Tom Sharpe' and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to relate. But he had such an infectuous laughter. This man, sitting alone on the shitter, is bursting out laughing.

I never got his humour when I was alone, but when we were together we could kill each other with laughter. I have more or less the same with my mother. And my two laughing bros. You don't realize you had it, until it's gone.

I still have one laughterbro. When we were teens we shared the bed in his room. I remember one time where I woke up and opened my eyes. My friends' face was an inch away from me. My friend woke up too. Opened his eyes. We're both waking up, making eye contact within an inch of each other's face. He looks at me, I look at him. He punches me rockhard in the face. Hell of a way to wake up.

Seriously, we still laugh about it years after. Sometimes I wonder: he wakes up and his instinctive reaction is to punch me in the face. The delay is what made it funny.
