>In the year of our Lord 1314, patriots of Scotland, starving and outnumbered, charged the fields of Bannockburn. They fought like warrior poets. They fought like Scotsmen. And won their freedom.
Why? I read a lot of history but can still enjoy this movie because it's just good. The film itself is based on a medieval poem written long after Wallace's death, and those type of texts tended to romanticize people and make shit up.
the whole prima nocta is supposed to be a major humiliation ritual, but I feel nothing because I know they made it up. it's just cheap anti royalty propaganda from the French revolution. I don't like being manipulated.
It's good but it doesn't hold up more than once.
I'd disagree about the first half-ish. But yeah.
>it doesn't hold up more than once.
Explain please.
It still holds up if you watch it every two years or so.
>Your island? You mean Ireland?
>Yah, it’s mine.
>Aye, it's mine
Great movie
Mind your tongue, insane Irishman
*Draws a knife*
Sophie Marceau should've been naked.
The historical inaccuracies are so silly that it ruins the immersion. I used to love it as a kid though.
Knowledge is a curse.

Robert le Bruce

Did it have thunderbolts and fire breathing?
Yes. Wallace consumes the English with fireballs from his eyes and lightning from his arse.

kino scene
>"I am skilled in the art of gay attitude and stupid comments that will get me to fly through a window tactics sire."
It's amazing. They stole more Mel kino like this from you.
It's entertaining, but it's historical fanfiction. It's more enjoyable if you act as if it takes place in an alternate reality.
Absolute god-tier soundtrack no matter what you thought of the movie, RIP James Horner
5:36 always makes me cry.
one of those movies that never would get made today cause they still portray classical male values
Compare this pure cinematic bliss to the artless trash that is Outlaw King
>Outlaw King
Never heard of it.
I enjoyed Outlaw King. Better than that shitty Robert Bruce movie the actor from Braveheart did.
>manages to sneak himself and a horse into one noble's upstairs bedroom
>lands a perfect morningstar flail strike in one swing
Must've been stat hacking.
no. gibson is a modern person and he could never convey the sense of medieval times. even costner robin hood was more believable.
It was a pretty good movie. Liked how the English are portrayed to be the biggest c**ts imaginable.
>ywn launch your loser homosexual son's social climber bf out a window
