Hank found a mask used to cook meth that was from Walt's classroom, yet he couldn't piece together that it was Walt, even though he's the only one that could get into the locked room it was in. Hank is a pretty bad detective.
It's what the last season is about. Hank was blindsided by his own ego and their relationship. He had spent so long trying to get Gus and the people around him. They then spend a few episodes trying to out ruthless each other.

After watching season 1 and 2 I was very interested. Season 3 really got me hooked. 4 was good. I liked 5 but the magnet shit and train heist were so out of character for the show.
