Panel shows being so enduring.
A proper show takes a lot of effort to get off the ground (and money if you’re buying the rights), requires decent casting while navigating the diversity minefield, a consistently good script and production staff. It also can become a victim of success, since irreplaceable stars will require higher pay, and people will expect it to consistently get better.
A panel show requires a few mainstays that aren’t insufferable and that’s it. The comedians bring their own material, you can pick the diversity hires of the day for easy checkbox ticking/crony appeasement, and you can easily blame a dud episode on the guests and get people back on board with some good old fashioned seal horking.
I watched it when I was like 10 years old and I think it's written to appeal more to a younger audience. I still think it's funny though. Bottom is probably better for when you're older.
