I gave up on the most recent series since the guests were so fricking annoying.

It's a good show, but very dependent on the panels
For example, Bob Mortimer and Sally Phillips are fantastic and funny in S5, but you have to sit through awful Aisling Bea, that wet simp Mark Watson, and idiotic tryhard Nish Kumar.
How the frick can we stop the box-ticking? It's anti-entertainment and people know it, but they're not allowed to say it
It's like how everyone tolerates Rosie Jones; nothing against her at all, but JESUS

Bros what explains this style of community planning? Is it trying to copy American suburbs but just not getting it, or perhaps something more locally influenced?

      Anonymous

Brits tried to build a suburb but they are so spiritually cucked that they physically couldn’t build houses that weren’t connected to each other.

The UK has like 100 times the population density of the US. We dont have vast tracts of barren wilderness to build housing on. On top of that it is insanely difficult to get permission to build houses thanks to local councils stuffed with senile NIMBYs who want to keep their house prices nice and inflated. So we have to cram houses in very tightly. Most houses like these are designed for first time owners, so nothing people stay in for a very long time.

I live in a decent sized village in the midlands (~3500 people). They're currently consulting building enough deanoboxes to triple the size and effectively merge with the next village over on top.
No work on local roads, no ameneties to speak of. Developers don't give a shit about stuff they can't sell. It's no wonder the people who already live there don't want it.

its housing companies building as many shitboxes as possible on the limited space given. these estates have been popping up loads past couple decades, the quailty of them is shite and i reckon most will fall apart in 20 years

        >tfw going to end up in a deanobox because all the other house prices are obscene or are run down like frick
        >at least my H2B ISA will grant me something like 5 grand for free
        >wouldn't be surprised if I end up living there for 10-15 years
still better than wasting huge amounts of money on renting though that you'll never see again

The UK is very limited in size. The US is gigantic. There are positives and negatives. A lot of Americans have to drive 15 miles to go to their local shop, but the plus side is that they get to live in bigger houses with open spaces.

fundamentally British suburbs are no different from small towns youd find out in the quieter parts of the UK. they just look like shit because theyre made like lego bricks. still reliant on cars for most activities which sucks but all will have a plethora of local walkable shops.

i cant even imagine being a middle class american or an upper class arab and having to drive 30mins to an hour for a weekly shop

Probably some legal requirement so the cops can access your backdoor to walk in and arrest you, when you make an offensive post on social media.

I'm guessing those are for taking your trash can out to the street without having to take it out the front door.

Split Second. It's an early-90's cheesy slasher-scifi-horror-crime-thriller set in a post-apocalyptic London that looks better than modern London where the city has been flooded by global warming. It's fricking terrible and brilliant at the same time.
