The problem with British comedy is that it's either totally pretentious homosexuals who spend a month "crafting" their twee shows featuring their middle class problems at Edinburgh Fringe or it's literal pee pee poo poo humor and nothing in-between.

                it's called stoicism

it's not even about 'turning off your feelings' like a robot it's about responding to them in a healthy way. if you are literally laughing out loud at comedy on your own then you are mentally ill or something. you wouldn't do that on a desert island.

                Anonymous

If you were laughing out loud at comedy on a desert island you're literally hallucinating. Laughing out loud at a comedy show is not only a natural reaction, it's a polite reaction. If you don't find it funny you're free to laugh but if you find something funny and just sit there emotionless you might actually be autistic. Not in the meme sense.

                Anonymous

it's a social signal to others. you should not be doing it on your own any more than you would 'have a conversation' on your own (which is fine if you are literally hallucinating, then you have a reasonable excuse)

                Anonymous

Laughter is a human reaction to finding something funny. More than that it's an exclusively human reaction. If you don't understand that then...friends with the queen yeay?

                Anonymous

it's a social reaction though, to signal something to others.

happy to admit i might be autistic not in the meme sense, but if you are actually laughing out loud sat watching comedy in your bedroom then please consider that you are mentally defective. there are people who cry alone, or have conversations alone. if it's real then you need to get help.

Agree. The only good stand ups are the ones that do one liners, like Dangerfield. The issue is stand-up tends to attract losers too stupid to succeed at anything else, and all they can do is talk about their shitty lives or basic b***h observations. It gets obnoxious when people like Burr and Chappelle (who have lived better lives than me since their births) reach a certain point and we're expected to treat them like blue collar working men.
