As long as he doesn’t do his fast talking schtick, maybe. Al Simmons is a pretty serious dude.

his face is burned so they can easily get a stunt double for the more physical stuff

Just make a shot for shot remake with the original cast.

He's the one who pursued the role so presumably he knows how to do it. MJW was actually a pretty good casting choice but the '97 movie was made by an effects guy and it shows. Most of the budget went for that and some of the story sequences were cut as a result.

People would love to see a Spawn reboot these days.

        Anonymous

        Why?
Spawn is a relic of a forgotten comics era, the 90’s are the punchbag of comics creators in the pozzed era. McFarlene’s legacy has been downplayed to the point he is no longer relevant. Even Imagine has long moved on
Todd is edgy as frick, good or bad, a new Spawn is going to be destroyed by ~~*critics*~~ as long as he is associated with it

              Anonymous

Yeah, that's the fate of kino these days. Still if old man Todd want to lose some money to make a movie as good as Dredd, I am all in. He di a kickstarter for a Spawn figure that made something like $5 millions in 3 days, you bet there is some people ready to watch this movie.

                Anonymous

the truth is that such a movie could probably make some decent money but todd is very specific about who he allows to use the property
it took several years until the mortal kombat guys could convince him to lend the character for the game

                >todd is very specific about who he allows to use the property
He is super autistic about his things, I lurk on /toy/ and man McFarlane shit is super specific and has direct input from Todd in everything, every figure, even the DC figures. There is a lot of love and hate, he is very difficult to work with. You bet that no matter what kind of movie comes out will have some very weird shit, some good and some bad, all personally approved by Todd.

                he's unorthodox yeah
the spawn concept basically started off as an inverse of the typical superhero formula, he wanted to make something completely different from superman/spider-man which were the popular character at the time

Not saying i would or do, but if i was going to watch another reboot of something i would like the actors to be chosen for their roles in it a little more thoughtfully.
Jamie foxx will not be able to portray al simmons just because he did a soldier movie years ago and his wanda impressions arent going to help him when he is playing spawn.

The physical role, sure, but he's never had a cool intimidating voice whereas Jai White and Keith David did which is arguably the most important thing.

If he wants, yeah. When this guy stop playing himself and decides to be the character he is quite the actor, but I must say MJW is fricking goat, also Keith David in the cartoon. That's quite a legacy to follow.

I doubt they'd use him for the first movie. But if they want to go the horror route like the rumors mention, they could do it like in a Dark Song.

I remember Todd saying they want to focus on Sam & Twitchy solving crimes and hearing about this boogieman called Spawn, that leaves a trail of bodies. He said would be a mix of Se7en and Candyman. Ngl it's a good concept and can work very well.

I'd prefer Idris Elba or the guy that played Bronze Tiger. Spawn should be played by a grizzled, older, veteran looking guy. Foxx is too flashy, too peppy. Like Kevin Hart or Chris Tucker. It would be off-putting.

You know for all the racebending Hollywood does, I notice they could never get a chad black guy or some sexy black girls in roles. I mean new actors btw. I cant think of a muscular black guy who could actually pass as a hero in a film that wasnt from the 90s or before.

No. No one has Keith Davids voice except for Keith David.
