Can someone explain the appeal of The Office to me?

Can someone explain the appeal of The Office to me? All the dried up roasties in my office are always quoting it and laughing about episodes that ive never watched. I am currently forcing myself to sit through but it is just dreadful.

All the episodes with Michael are kino. You're getting filtered hard. The ones after he leaves are pretty bad though.

It appeals to women because the "comedy" is cheap/inoffensive and situation-based. I have yet to meet a single guy that genuinely found it funny (even if we all pretend we do for our girlfriends).

Much of it is offensive you fricking loser lmao pretending you have a girlfriend foh

I can't think of a single thing about it that was. Sure, the main couple bullied the autistic coworker but that's hardly "offensive" by society's standards. Autists are like one of the last groups you can really shit on without anyone caring.

I found The Office funny, and I've never had a girlfriend. How would you explain that?

Someone saying they've never met a guy who liked The Office tells me they're probably not White, so I regret replying to whatever that anon is.

Popular doesn't mean good, Mr or Ms NPC. I'm not saying The Office isn't good, but saying people should like it because it's popular makes me think you're a woman. Feel free to admit it, so I can collapse the entire conversation.

Lol. It is funny, and someone tried to say The Office isn't offensive. This joke shits on women and Asians at the same time.

The Christmas episode, for example, has a joke where Michael can't tell two Asian women apart. How is that unoffensive? It's the same opinion held by racists. The Office is popular because it's like safe-offensive.

The picture of Stanley reminded me of this scene, which is hilarious. The chemistry of the cast is what makes the show so good.

I've been getting high and watching the uncut episodes lately. No distractions. Seasons 2-4 were pretty decent in how the writers utilized the characters, everyone's little quirks being pointed out so we all know that everyone in the office is kind of an butthole. In that regard it plays out like an actual exaggeration of an eventful office setting. I can't say I've found it funny so much as I've found some things so painful that it makes me laugh a bit just so I don't cringe harder. Toby might be the only character I can say I really liked outside of Creed's rare interesting anecdotes. But if you've worked in an office setting that was dramatic or eventful you might relate to some of the show on some level, even if you don't find it particularly funny.

Don't you know there's a version of the show where they put all the deleted scenes back in? It's way better. If something is good, you want a longer version of it.

There's a version where all the deleted scenes were re-added. It gives more character depth. Like Michael and Phyllis are both way bigger buttholes sometimes, way bigger. Actually everyone's a bigger butthole, but Michael and Phyllis really take the cake.

Don't you know there's a version of the show where they put all the deleted scenes back in? It's way better. If something is good, you want a longer version of it.

It's not that it's longer, it's just less of a gag show with all the added character context.

Michael, Dwight, Jim (Sometimes), Stanley, Kevin, and Creed are the only reasons to watch this show

The rest are average, sweet, straightmen/women, and then there is b***h who shall not be named.

After Michael left it just...it just fell apart. It's not the best sitcom, even the best workplace sitcom, ever but there is a ton of fun shit in it that I enjoy because I'm a sucker for wagie workplace comedies like the fun run and the CPR.

I'd say The Drew Carey show is a much better workplace comedy. Cheers/Wings too.
