What's with this and speed racer having huge cult followings now? I remember being very young when these came out and they bombed hard. No one liked them.
Every kids movie has its fans among the target audience, and they get nostalgic when they get older which leads to cult followings. I was in fifth end eighth grade when those movies came out and I loved them then, so I still enjoy them as an adult.
Also if you don't have a crush on Olivia Wilde in Tron you're a grade A homosexual.
I'm 40 and I've never seen Speed Racer, but I'm surprised Legacy bombed. It's not a bad movie and the original Tron wasn't exactly oscar-worthy either. Legacy's a little special to me since my first girlfriend took me to see it.
Tron Legacy had really cool effects (CGI Clu excluded), art design and soundtrack but the story and characters were shit. I can only assume the original was the same.
It's so annoying that the movie has Tron and Dillinger Jr, and they appear on screen for just a few seconds (I know "Rinzler" was a prominent villain, my point still stands). It's an enjoyable movie and better than anything Disney's made since, but still missed potential
this movie was based, the intro motorcycle scene is kino one of my favorite 30 seconds of film ever, and Olivia Wilde was at her peak here acting and looks wise.
Part of what makes the original Tron memorable is a thing that can't be replicated. that it's Computer Animation is so primitive and "bad" that it cycles around to tricking your brain into thinking it's a brave aesthetic decision instead of the truth that computer animation back then just sucked. Even today when you watch the Light-Cycle scene it looks great, but not for any reason the makers intended. I don't really know how you can replicate that weird accidental timeless quality in a sequel. They really couldn't do it in Legacy, where things were pretty much that standard “iPod Future" aesthetic that Hollywood overuses today.
>where things were pretty much that standard “iPod Future" aesthetic that Hollywood overuses today.
Not really no, Tron (and Oblivion, same director) so so overboard with it that it circles around to looking original.
Nothing Hollywood produces today looks remotely like it, in other media maybe Mass Effect did but still, not the same essence.
I played the hell out of the game
You could “dig” on a wall or line and create impossible to navigate straits and trap places using macros to preform a bunch of quick turns
Anyone else play this game? Is it still live?
>I like Tron, but c'mon. They couldn't even decide which guy should be Yori's love interest. The visuals are really unique, though.
It was a very clear and clearly resolved love triangle. No different than original Star Wars, Casblanca, etc. among many others.
>franchise
2 movies is a franchise now?
There was a TV series too.
And video games, still not a franchise in the kino sense, it was not intended to be.

Tron is actually good though.

So is speed racer
Speed racer is the greatest film ever made
I’m 40 and unironically really enjoyed Speed Racer and Tron Legacy. I’m still confused why they bombed so hard myself.

Tron Legacy is kind of a mid movie but it had a few things going for it
1. Cool art style
2. Daft Punk soundtrack
>No one liked them.
I loved Legacy. I watched it twice in the theater and even bought its DVD, the comics and both games.

You actually have something worth talking about or are you just looking for a circle jerk.
What do you think it was like fucking her for the first time?
>Warm. Radiant. Beautiful. There's no comparison"
Like licking a 9 volt battery
This movie is carried hard by the soundtrack
Most movies are. That's literally the point.

Do it homosexual
I've never seen Tron but I rode LIGHTCYCLE RUN at WDW and it was pure elation
You missed the trademarks, newbie. Consider your pay docked.

Dillinger Jr was being setup for a potential sequel. Could have been fun.
pure tronkino

I was 16 when Legacy came out and I was in love with Olivia Munn in this movie
I meant Wilde, fuck. My 2010s Olivia waifus got mixed up
1st one was great:
Great acting
Cohesive script
Compelling characters
Groundbreaking visuals
2nd one:
Poor acting
Shit, nonsensical script
Characters shit
Pretty good visuals
>Cohesive script

There is only TRON, the computer game TRON 2.0 (along with unofficial expansion KILLER APP) & the original arcade game.
Everything else is a waste of time.
To be fair, the OST for T:L was good.
>Everything else is a waste of time.
Imagine saying Uprising is a waste of time.
Kino
This show was surprisingly KINO
