How his right arm grasps for an invisible cane or rail for stability before he kicks is the part that always makes me laugh because it's so obvious he's an old man. Marty should have just hired someone younger to cgi his young face over
I don't understand why they were content in spending millions of dollars digitally de-ageing De Niro but then didn't think it would be a good idea to digitally put De Niro's face onto another actor for this scene?
they used a v2.0 deaging system for that film. So I would imagine they didn't want to go above that system and make things more complex. If you look into how they pulled it off it was pretty cutting edge back then(side note the netflix PeeWee Herman movie was the first to test it out. He is deaged in that film lol)
>Throws him a foot short of the door >Crawls forward to barely touch the doors with his head and the glass all shatters >Rolls himself to the road while De Niro shambles toward him
Jesus Christ, how did Marty watch this and give it the green light? Has he completely lost his touch or is he just too rich to care about putting forth a quality product?
Regardless of the CGI shit, there's no way he could have filmed this scene, watched DeNiro move like a senior citizen and think there was any way to fix that after the fact.

If they were able to CGI DeNiro's face in the entire movie, why couldn't they have a stunt double do this very short scene with DeNiro's face CGIed on?
They should have used the technology Marvel used for Michael Douglas, they actually made him look like himself from the 80s/early 90s. De Niro here just looks like 75 year old De Niro but with his wrinkles smoothed out, not like actual young Taxi Driver era De Niro.
This is key. Everyone knows what De Niro looked like when he was 25 and that pic ain't fucking it. It throws you off.
While the Micheal Douglas and Less Than Zero era RDJ in Civil War didn't trigger a fucking skinwalker danger response in your brain because you recognised them.
I dont get why you wouldnt just make the character 40something if they really wanted DeNiro and rewrite the few specific references that would make that not work. Hubris meets laziness.
He looks 60 instead of 75. That's it. There's more to deaging than just the wrinkles. Skin tone is usually the biggest thing they forget. They forgot to lift the ears and his nose is still way too fucking big. I like Martin Scorsese's movies, but the Irishman is a 3 hours fucking terrible borefest. I can watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood without moving a single hair, but this is too fucking long.
This movie infuriates me, I have never seen it, and never fucking will. They did such an awful job with whatever technique they used. The deep fake looks so much better that I would be willing to watch it. But then there's this
>Can we finally admit they did a decent job?
Did they though?
You can't fix an awful scene like this. There's so much incompetence it over shadows what could be a decent or great movie.
>I have never seen it, and never fucking will.
It's too long and given that the plot is boring as shit and the performances really mediocre for a Scorsese film, you're better off. Marty has much better movies out there.
This video shows the main reason it doesn't quite work, everyone knows what young Deniro looked like and the movie isn't that. It just looks like old Deniro with the wrinkles smoothed out.
Left looks 70 and right looks 50. I cannot fathom why Scorsese did not simply get a younger actor to play young DeNiro. Is Marty really so old and out of touch that someone told him, "Don't worry, we'll use our magical computers to make DeNiro look 30 and no one will be able to tell" and he believed them?
It's the mouth. He still has the sunken lipless mouth of an old man and it ruins it.
That's just the face, they obviously couldn't change the fact that he is an old man
Scorcese films are all about the highs and lows of being a criminal. Doing drugs, losing $100k on gambling, fucking whores and then the inevitable collapse.
The Irishman is about a guy who changes from a truck driver to an assassin, then goes home and doesn't fuck his wife.
I just found it and he does, you almost verbatim quoted him. >a movie about a guy real life guy who rises up the ranks of the mob and then still just like goes home and doesn't fuck his wife
>Can we finally admit they did a decent job?
Did they though?

geriatrics must die
unfortunately boomers are living longer and longer
>geriatrics must die
Now I have to look up this video of a rare Mike laugh, as he loses his fucking mind.
yeah he was laughing about some old womans medical problems in that lol

they also probably felt they could get away with that scene and just have Deniro act young, which was a mistake obviously
>character is supposed to be in his 20s/30s
>looks 50
no, they failed
this especially is extremely bad

ARRRGH NO PLEASE! PLEASE NOT MY HAND! AIEEEE DON'T NEARLY FALL OVER STEPPING ON MY HAAAAAAAAND!
He could pass for late 30s here. Personally he looks more like he is in his 40s.
bro he looks 50 at the minnumum
>here's the 25 year old kid i was telling you about
chris hansen was gonna use him in one of their sting operations i think

Kurt Russell in Guardians 2 was the best one i think

I guess it makes sense since he’s a WWII vet and some of those boys came back looking 20 years older
bro, he went from 80 to 65
This movie was made too late, it should’ve been made in the late 90’s and it would’ve been better regarded. Now it’s digital slop

They made him look like an old guy with less wrinkles. He came across as a guy in his 50s in his early days

No. And here's why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHSTWepkp_M

fuck he should just do the whole thing
it's so stupid that they didn't do this
why did they spend tens of millions on deaging when this is much cheaper and looks better?
Sheeran's supposed to be in his mid-30s at this point. He still looks 55-60 there.
They needed better:
Fuck Robert DeNiro
>here's that 28 year old i was telling you about
Most Cinemaphile zipper shape
No, not at all. Just hire someone that actually fits the part instead of getting your old rich friends jobs you fucking hack

did Nick Mullen say this?
I had to google the name, I dunno.
I just found it and he does, you almost verbatim quoted him.
