>Can't beat hope because Lucifer still has hope within their own heart.

>Can't beat hope because Lucifer still has hope within their own heart. Hope that one day they can be redeemed. If they become that which kills all hope, then they would have to kill their own hope, and they just weren't able to do that. It's not about philosophy or any of this other metaphysical stuff. It's about who Lucifer is fundamentally as a character. Morpheus won because he knew this because he knows what Lucifer's dream is.

Have you read the comics? Lucifer doesn't give a frick about being "redeemed". What he really hopes for is to escape his father's sovereignty. To be free from predestination and attain true free will. So Lucifer does have hope, just not in the way you're thinking. Even Lucifer ruling Hell is still part of dear old dad's grand plan and Lucifer can't stand it.

I don't read or watch any capecontent, but the Lucifer in Paradise Lost absolutely does care about being redeemed. Been years since highschool english but iirc he despaired because he absolutely wanted to return but considered himself too far gone and beyond redemption to even bother trying.

Reminder that Lucifer vanishes when he finally accepts that everything in creation is part of his father himself induced. But of course modern DC had to frick it up and bring him back in the reboot.

    Your move, Dreamy

The whole point was that Lucifer couldn't defeat hope without denying himself. To become despair would go against what Lucifer is. It would be like admitting God was right all along.

You can't counter hope with despair, the whole point of hope is that it comes in desperate times to help people get through them

You should read on the etymology of the word despair.

I just thought she couldn't beat it because hope is the last one to die. Like, it always appears when everything gets bad, it's unbeatable in that sense

Lucifer is almost always a kino character when written as more than I'M THE DEVIL HAHAHAHAHA!

I recently ordered Paradise Lost. Been meaning to read it for a long time.

What kills hope? Despair. It's that fricking simple.

Lucifer is the most hopeful entity in existence. He hopes to be free from GOD. Becoming despair is abhorrent to Lucifer.

It should have been Tilda Swinton but they probably couldn't afford her or felt it was a bad idea after she was already in the Constantine movie.

Reminder that the forced diversity shot their own message in the foot.

Dream speaking to his immortal friend in the comic and chastising him about being involved in the slave trade took place in an accurately white england. The fact the showrunnes forced Black folk of affluence and wealth throughout english history means that they were also responsible for the slave trade happening at the time, thus removing any racial guilt associated with the slave trade.

don't know if based or woke ODing showrunners

Re-watch the scene once more. Nigs only appear in the bar after Britian abolishes slavery. Before that the patrons are all white.
