Capeshit They Wont Make - but Youd Actually Watch

Haven’t watched a marvel movie in years, but I’d kick the theater doors in if someone made an actually good film adaptation of ol’ Joe.
What about you guys?

Back in 2016 after Deadpool I thought the perfect movie to come out to save the fox stuff would be an X-Force/X-Statix adaptation that would be the perfect critique of the ever growing popular capeshit stuff of the time. But then Boys and The Suicide Squad did parts of what I'd want to see in an adaptation so I don't care anymore.

Yuliban (the Yabanverse guy) had an idea of how a Saiyan coming to live on Earth would realistically be beyond the law and any legal culpability, and I thought about that for years and realized that there's a genuinely great capeshit storyline in there
"The People vs. Superman" or something like that
Capeshit always leaves the aftermath of fights and super antics down to people grumbling about insurance and property damage, but realistically if a superhuman was on Earth, every social and political construct we have would fall apart.
    >Superhuman can't be arrested because there's nothing the police can realistically do about them and they could break out of jail and defend themselves however they see fit
    >Legal system can't do anything about them
    >People will begin thinking that this superhuman is a literal god at some point and beg them for help and to be on their side. Whoever the superhuman sides with "wins" world domination
    >Superhuman can't even live libertarian agnostic life because if bad things happen, they're seen as responsible. "A hurricane killed thousands! Why didn't you use your powers to blow it away?"
    >Mutants and metahumans and other beings that can blow up cities/planets/dimensions with their bare hands should not be seen as equivalent to a meaty normal human because in no dimension can they possible be, not even legally because some superhumans might have the ability to copy themselves and their consciousness and condition to clones or other people

That's actually a genuinely thought provoking premise that even Martin Scorcese would have to give at least a thumbs-up to, but capeshit writers never do anything with it because even when it's "M rated," it's still really made with little kids in mind like the Silver Age

I still dream of them copying The Last Starfighter for a Nova movie or Nova Corps tie-in
    >Richard Ryder accidentally completes a Nova Corps test in the 1990s at random location
    >Teleported to Xandar and put through an automated on-boarding process that gives him an experimental Nova uniform mirroring Carol's abilities retro-fitted by the Worldmind to the best of its abilities
    >Nova Corps flips out that a Terran got through their system, also bonded to the experimental Worldmind suit
    >Annihilus something or other
    >Rich comes together, fights back the wave inspiring the Nova Corps to do their shield formation and seals himself into the Negative Zone
    >Nova Prime amazed a Terran could handle the power, reflects on this later after Quill gets scanned.

Also a Damage Control procedural that explores how the MCU department is becoming more of a police force and co-opting the technology it's collecting.

    >Joe Fixit movie in the rebooted MCU
    >your introduction to new Bruce is him waking up in a Vegas penthouse screaming
    >movie’s time setting is ambiguous it could be anywhere in between the 80s-2000s
    >theme is Danzig’s “Thirteen” it becomes Joe’s theme song
    >first quarter is Bruce trying to solve the mystery, leading to him to “Joe’s” estranged wife, Marlo
    >scene is an homage to Terminator 1’s Tech Noir sequence where Bruce and mobsters eager for payback on Joe are looking for Marlo
    >Bruce takes a bullet for her and Joe comes out with a gruesome Immortal-style transformation
    >movie has Bruce unable to remember how he got here and the reveal comes after most of the movie is spent struggling with Hulk and Joe
    >this Bruce left after him and Betty lost their kid, he willingly surrendered to Hulk because the pain was too great
    >Bruce, Hulk and Joe reach an understand when Bruce opens the locked room in Joe’s penthouse and finds a private memorial to their mom
    >Joe’s penthouse is the source of many Easter eggs including a bust of Stan Lee, a portrait of Joe and Wolverine in tuxedos and a pinup of Dazzler
    >villians are the U-Foes, another Immortal reference, they are hired by rival mafia bosses to kill Joe
    >subtle, more supernatural things like Bruce having no reflection, Joe being stronger at night and being able to “smell lies” are present
    >Bruce Banner at this point has been Hulk for five years and went through the gamma bomb origin, shown in the opening slides
    >Brian Banner flashbacks show this iteration of Joe being the one who got beaten, he was made to take the pain and that’s why he was the one to take over. It’s what he was made for, the Devil is hinted
    >Green Hulk gets out for the finale to thrash the U-Foes
    >ending is a reference to Fear and Loathing, Mike gifts Joe a familiar red car to get out of Vegas with.
    >Bruce drives away, in Immortal Joe’s clothing choice of a custom suit and Hawaiian shirt.

I’d do a trilogy with each persona being the co-protagonist with Banner, the others are present but they take a backseat to the co-protagonist and it corralates to each movie’s theme
        >Movie 1 (Joe) Fear
        >Movie 2 (Savage) Loathing
        >Movie 3 (Devil) Redemption
        >Bruce ran to Vegas because he couldn’t handle the loss of his child and that’s what does when the going gets tough, he runs, this time she didn’t follow
        >Movie 2 shows how bad his and Betty’s relationship is, he shows up at the Nunnery decked out like Joe’s human form, handlebar mustache, bling and custom suit. The nun answering the door has a photo of Bruce, the head mother gave special instructions not to let “that man” in.
        >Betty joined them after her low point
        >Movie 2 starts similarly to movie one, Bruce wakes up in his motel, Hulk and Joe are leaning over his bed
        >when they are hallucinated Bruce’s eyes turn madness green
        >the movie is a romcom with Hulk rampages
        >movie 2 has Xenmu and the brainwashed Hulkbusters as the villians
        >if Bruce was Hunter S Thompson in the last one he’s Florida man in this one
        >Betty gets along with Joe better than Bruce (that laughing on the train scene is 1:1 included)
        >Savage Hulk has his “kid” depiction and he comes out during an argument and asks Betty to stop fighting
        >General Ross gets a more heroic depiction leading a force of soldiers who resisted brainwashing, when Bruce and Betty find him he just gives his daughter a hug
        >his hate of Bruce is more justified this time around
        >movie ends with Bruce and Betty living it up in the Carribean off of Joe’s fortune
        >he lets her go, gives her a fortune and tells her to forget him
        >Bruce takes a boat and rides out to the horizon, again the Hulks appear at his side, his only company

Ross hates Bruce for ruining Betty’s life, the newspapers painted her as the lover of the most wanted man in America, that’s all she’s known for, it’s why she turned to a nunnery, nobody else would take her in and she (falsely) assumed her father wouldn’t want anything to do with her. Ross is a bit more noble to contrast the villainous MCU one

            >Movie 4 is about the sudden discovery of Bruce and Betty's apparently alive child
            >Thanks to some god-forsaken power of gamma radiation, their kid is alive only deformed in some sense
            >Survived for a long while and treated with disdain from others due to their appearance
            >Referred themselves with the name due to A. being a skarr to society and B. a skarr in his parent's relationship
            >something something, Movie 4 is Discovery?

Movie 3 is Future Imperfect and features the Devil who in the end “dies” when Maestro keeps chain-killing Bruce and Banner’s mindscape is being ravaged by Guilt Hulk
            >Devil throws himself into the “void” in Banner’s mind (brain death) taking Guilt Hulk with him
            >Bruce becomes an amalgamation of Green Scar and Professor
            >does the Time Machine kill on Maestro
            >Bruce returns to his time
            >the Lonely Man plays as he finally becomes Bruce the wanderer
            >movie 4 is Gammaworld (Rise) with the Leader
            >Skaar is adapted, his tattoos are instead black veins and he’s the Leader’s Igor
            >The Gamma Dome is in Las Vegas, it ends where it began
            >Betty and Thaddeus Ross get their red forms
            >all remaining gamma villians are created by the dome
            >father vs son (homage to Devil vs Green Scar)
            >Skaar reverts to his child form and Bruce breaks down and hugs his son
            >Betty overcomes her brainwashing seeing this and she also hugs her son
            >General Ross kills Sterns and destroys the dome
            >the Hulk family go on the run
            >ending has a time skip to two years in the future and they’ve reached a level of happiness, they live by the old test site, the gamma healed Skaar and Bruce still studies it
            >General Ross finally shakes hands with his son in law
            >the cycle is broken, a broken child is loved
            >closing narration is Bruce repeating the Devil’s speech
            >Bruce’s reflection shows Joe now “Sunshine Joe” and Hulk (grown up into Green Scar) both present, matured and in symbiosis with Bruce, his angel and devil

I occasionally think about a mini series of short monster movies, inspired by the monster era before Marvel. A (proper, of course) adaptation of the first appearance of Fin Fang Foom, one for Groot (I'd even accept if they used Hank Pym as the scientist in this one), and so on.

I guess I got off pretty luck with my boy John with his MCU appearance, although I wanted them to get someone bigger for the role.

I'd love if they had USAgent as a love letter to '80s action movies. Have USAgent just be a roughneck the government points at rogue superhumans and he takes them down. Give him a hot blonde handler from whoever's taking over after SHIELD's gone (he worked for a bunch of different outfits in the comics, use one of them).

Although I know they'd never really go for it I'd love if the main bad guy was a Democrat senator - an effete, sensitive, wine sipping, arts patroning type - who was selling American secrets to Latveria or someone in Madripoor or something like that. It wouldn't really be a Left wing vs Right wing kind of thing I'm just tired of conservatives being the bad guy.

There's a lot you could do to make a solid FF movie. I'd even argue the 2000s ones ALMOST were heading in the right direction. You just need to really nail Doom better and figure out the right balance.

I'll add this, the tie-in vidya was surprisingly decent and heading in the right direction as well, though it probably would've worked better as a TV series, but it did enough to capture the spirit of FF.

A solid FF focused style MUA game is something I think I want even more than a movie. I'd say being tied to the film probably held that game back a lot and if it was allowed to be more comic focused and really get into exploring the crazy parts of the book then it might be really stand out. A TV series is an interesting idea. A non animated one would probably be extremely expensive though.

If we actually got a GOOD Fantastic Four movie it'd probably still have an uphill struggle to draw an audience because of the brand being tainted by previous movies nobody's got any real love for. Best case scenario is a slow burn where word of mouth gives it legs.

Do people even like Suicide Squad? Because I swear it doesn't feel like they're anywhere near as popular as DC seems to want them to be. The first movie was a trash fire and I heard the second was alright and I guess Peacemaker was well received but people seem to have already moved on even with that regarded.

          Anonymous

The first Suicide Squad made a billion dollars solely off the back of that Bohemian Rhapsody trailer, despite the fact the film itself was a load of bullshit. It shot Harley Quinn to superstardom and there were at least a couple long-lasting memes from it ("what are we, some kind of, Suicide Squad?" and all the clowning on Jared Leto's Joker). Then Gunn's THE Suicide Squad got fricked over financially because it was a sequel to that first shitty movie, which WB released in cinemas and on streaming simultaneously in the middle of covid, so it wasn't anywhere close to as big a deal as the original film, but it was critically fairly well-received at least.

So WB, and by extension Marvel, realise there's probably something profitable they can do with the concept of
          >team of edgy-but-not-actually-too-villainous "villains"
which I figure is why the MCU has just made Thunderbolts a Suicide Squad knockoff

the only good thing about the 2nd Shazam movie (aside from Mary's breasts) was the joke about because Mr. Mind is a worm it takes him forever to get anywhere

Yeah that really burned me. I liked the first film but didnt even bother to see the second. I hear it’s good but I’m not gonna get bait and switched.

Warlord done in the style of a big budget 80s fantasy adventure.

      Yesssssss

What would it happen, if we actually got a GOOD Fantastic Four Movie?

Well I’d be happy, for starters. Can’t be having that now.

High-grade animated capeshit in general. You'd think that Spiderverse's success would have spawned copycats from both DC and Marvel, but the only thing we ever got was the usual low-budget direct-to-dvd crap from DC and absolutely fricking nothing from Marvel.
They turned down a Batman Beyond movie for christ sakes.

Great point and agreed. You’d think they’d be all over that like flies on shit

A proper Mayday movie. Hell, you could probably adapt the Goblin God arc and bring Dafoe back.

In what sense? You could make the argument for everything from the MCU to the Raimi Spider-man to 70s Superman to even old film serials.

Will they get copyright from Sony for copying that style though?

It doesn't have to be that specific style. I think Anon just wants more high grade animated cape stuff.

Yeah. Closest we got was Super Pets of all things, which fricking sucked and I'm pretty sure it flopped.

Nah Zaslav just hates animation and thinks it's for kids, thus serving no purpose since kids don't have disposable income.

Why can't Joe just be his own character? The fact that he's stuck to Bruce and Hulk is his major detriment.

I get what you mean. It’d be nice if he could just consistently have his little slice of life stuff regardless of whether they need the Hulk to be on Mars or whatever

James Robinson Starman series set in the 90's, completely comic book accurate. No race-baiting, no gender bending. Just a good story about Jack reluctantly taking on the Starman mantle with Opal City as a spectacular backdrop.

Man, there's just so many different options. But like, you have to have them all self-contained. Going for all this one universe stuff really kills it. Anyway, I would really like something that didn't really exist in comics, and that's a justice society of America movie based in the interwar period.

child within/best of enemies is one of the absolute peaks of spider man as a whole but you're never gonna get a proper adaptation of it because it requires a shitton of set up
kraven's last hunt is also super fricking good but can't be done because it's too grim to be adapted
best you'll get is something like spider-man 2
