This line is meant to make Storm look tough, because she's saying "I can destroy you as easily as I could destroy a frog".

Compared to the cringe dialogue in modern capeshit, it sort of flies over as another groan inducing moment. But it's not that bad of a line, considering what was cut out that actually made that line work. But back then, most capeshit had an oddly serious tone and this line really stood out to most of the fans as awkward. That's one of the reasons people didn't gravitate to Batman And Robin - it lacked the seriousness that people in that era liked.

The reason why it existed was because there was originally this micro rivalry between storm and toad in the movie where he would taunt her with toad facts like "do you know what happens to a toad when it's cornered" or "do you know what happens to a toad when it senses danger", so with this line was meant to tell him to shut the frick up about toads. But then all the preceding lines were cut but the final one was left in, making storm look like a moron spouting random nonsense

I don't even individually rank the movies, and I see them as one really long movie (like Lord of the Rings); The reason being is that the cast never changed.
          >Hugh Jackman Wolverine
          >Patrick Stewart Xavier
          >Ian McKellen Magneto
How can I say one is better than the other, when they had the same people, who are great actors. That's me attempting to defend my opinion. They wouldn't have used Hugh Jackman for 24 years, unless he was great, and Magneto was played by Gandalf. It blows my mind that they rebooted X-Men, and continued using Hugh Jackman; I think that cheapened the new movies.

Well, even though across all X-Men movies, continuity is famously barely existent, continuing to use Wolverine is actually the logical thing to do, because Logan/James Howlett is just that long-lived and their reboot was explained in-universe with a changed timeline through his intervention. Hugh Jackman gets sent back to the 70's, where the cast of First Class are experiencing trouble and changes events, but even in the new reality, he himself remains the same character since the 1800s, because at that point, the timeline wasn't altered. (Also, after Days of Future Past, he never rejoins the team. He only makes a cameo as a somewhat faithful rendition of his Weapon X look in Apocalypse, without any lines.)

              >after Days of Future Past, he never rejoins the team

Yes, and that means the new X-Men movies didn't even have a Wolverine. The original trilogy will always be better than anything that came after it, because they refuse to recast Wolverine, to the point where they couldn't use the character.

Ok, buddy, here's how the line would go today:

    >"Wait, what are you, some kinda frog-boy?"
    >"TOAD, my name is TOAD. Get it right! And by the way, I am not threatened by you because you're a woman."
    >*Storm ooks at camera* "Are you sure about that?"
    >*pink lightning hits Toad in the dick and he coyotescreams to his death*
    >*Storm looks into camera again* I guess patriarchal amphibians die from lightning, just like everyone else.
    >*Cyclops runs into the scene* Storm, are you ok Queen? What happened?
    >*storm smirks* Just had to fry up some frog legs.
    >*Toad, still alive, hollers from bellow* It's TOAD!
    >*Storm delivers one final lighting strike, and Toad evaporates in a bloodless cloud*
    >*Cyclops adjusts his visor* "Well, that just happened."

Just need to tweak it a bit and add a line where Storm emasculates Cyclops by saving him from Toad. Also Toad is Maga.

I have no idea why they kept this line in when they removed all the other lines Toad had, where he'd ask rhetorical questions about toads.

It still likely would have come across as a cringe and moronic, but at least would have been something of a retort rather than a non-sequitur "gotcha" that's more along the lines of a Rian Johnson "quip".

Fox did a decent job with the X-Men franchise and, with the exception of Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse, all their projects were at least watchable and enjoyable. Even their abandoned projects like Legion, New Mutants and The Gifted were a fun ride. Shame Disney is going to go into the same time travel and multiverse thing that doomed the comics and last two movies.

Joss Whedon said that Halle Berry ruined the line by reading it like she was actually trying to be serious and badass

Picture how Willow, or on a bad day, Buffy would have delivered it
      >(smug and badass) "Y'know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning?"
      >(awkwardly, quiet, realizing they don't actually have a cool follow-up for that) "...the same thing that happens to everyone else"
      >quick glance around to make sure nobody heard them say that and back into battle

See also: the scene in Firefly where Mal threateningly challenges Jayne with "You think you could do a better job running this ship?" but when Jayne immediately flatly answers yes, a taken aback Mal just goes "Yeah, well... you can't!"
