Captain America is THE American cultural icon, second only to Superman.

      >second only to Superman.
That irrelevant jobber wishes he was a icon lol

I miss actual comic book Cap though, Comics Cap was an icon for years. Movie Cap went downhill.

Better than killing him through jobbing

And that's just cause Chris Evans wanted to leave.
          Why, is beyond me.
I'd play a character for years with that pay check coming in like it was. Sheeeeesh.

Nah, I'd put both Batman and Spider-man ahead of Cap (still behind Superman, though). Shit even WW can give him a solid run for his money.

Ironman is literally the reason why Cap could get any attention in the first place.

Within America I really have no idea how popular or iconic he was before, but I don’t think most of the world was even that aware of him until the MCU. Certainly nowhere near Superman or Batman levels.

The only one that barely aligns with your shitpost is pre serum Steve.

Yes anon, very good job figuring out which of the three (3) Steves anon was referring to.

The post clearly comes off as implying all of the Steves were drawn that way.

Here in Ireland, we have a Captain America themed steakhouse for some reason. I grew up near it and it’s where I knew Cap from before the movies. Inside there’s a bunch of Cap murals and memorabilia. I thought it was a chain worldwide but I guess there’s just some guy in Dublin who really loves Cap.

      >Captain America's number one fan is an Irishman
Isn't Steve of Irish descent? Or is that some fanon creeping up

I think the more recent versions have him be of Irish descent.

Why doesn't Steve use guns more? Like, not even a sidearm. I get the shield is great but come on. Imagine if Steve had a signature pistol, his on DL44

He was at his height during World War 2, where he managed to come out on top in what was basically a frickpile of patriotic-themed superheroes, then he had his up and down periods after his revival, settling into current times where his shield is probably about as iconic as Superman's.

Probably undead or some sort of construct, seeing as how it tries to choke him afterwards.

If you asked someone to draw Batman or Superman would they draw the current popular version or the originals?
Guarantee they'd be drawing DCAU versions or DCEU ones.

        Anonymous

I'd wager DCAU. Who the frick would want to draw those stupid Batman armors or Superman in a dark costume?

Movie Steve is a cool guy, and it's ok that a lot of people mostly know him from the movies, but looks like they're casuals with surface knowledge.

That just means they're too lazy and uncreative to understand the actual original character and we're all tired of that shit.

also reminds me, most japs from the past generation probably also knew the classic Cap look from the Capcom games. Unfortunately those don't show his personality much, so I guess there wasn't much reason for them to be big fans.

Do you think I made that shitty toon and song myself, anon? Or that I'm the Freemason responsible for Craptain Arserica's comics dying after shitty sales and Crap getting replaced all the time - John Walker, (Broken) Bucky Barnes, and then Sambo.

America has no icons anymore. It's just a currently still recognizable commercial toy.
