    *le government bootlicker
And that's been his entire career at DC.

Part of his arc was that he rebelled against being a government weapon, read some comics.

It didn't last. I read more comics than you.

Because Rebirth is just a rehash of the status quo. N52 Captain Atom was good but at some point it also became an issue of DC not knowing what to do with what is essentially Dr Manhattan.

Anon, Atom was already stooging it up for the g-men by the Janus Directive. It's like his specific niche he's always returned to.

Regression is shit writing. Honestly, he was better off when he lead his own Justice League offshoot.

You mean immediately after he was leading the League Busters, a government bootlicker squad? And just before op's pic related?

No shit? However, the League Busters represents Atom's default, which he returns to in his very next appearance after Extreme Justice, in op's pic related.
Was that slow enough for you?

I already addressed this. Regression is shit writing. But it is an American comic book after all so it makes sense they'd have some government stooge heroes.

So he's been defined as someone who regresses back to his origin story over and over

Part of his arc was that he rebelled against being a government weapon, read some comics.

He was automatically ruined because of his powerset. He's sufferd the worst fate a b list hero receive, stuck in the infinite hell of being simultaneously too strong and too weak. He's not a character he's a tool for writers to use to prop up other, new/more popular ips.

Nobody cares about Captain Atom enough for any characterization he has to stick around in people's heads.

I liked him as a Dr Manhattan pastiche (yes, I know Atom came first but w/e) who handled his situation in a manner which wasn't as whiny as Jon Osterman's. Then again, Manhattan was being manipulated into thinking he gave everyone around him cancer, and his perception of time would presumably be enough to drive anyone insane.
I'd be down for a new Captain Atom solo series but DC hates anyone who isn't Superman/Batman.

I liked when he got together with Plastique. They should have had a child named Atom Bomb.

The only people who seem to care are Cary Bates and Greg Weisman, who did his Rebirth mini that reset the character from the Nu52 version and restored elements like him being out of time and being blackmailed by the government. Unfortunately it didn’t sell well and DC ignored it.

He's simultaneously very op but also a liability due to the whole ticking time bomb thing. The Injustice comic was pretty accurate on what would really happen if they fought though.

DCAU Captain Atom basically seems to ust be an energy being in a suit and nowhere near the energy god of the comics. Most everyone's power in the DCAU is toned way down.

Well she's suicide squad isn't she? I assume it's so they don't use the plastic explosives in her brain.

She wasn't ever remotely associated with the Suicide Squad until the movie.

They crossed paths once, that's it. Now you can be autistic about it and say how that disproves how they are not even remotely associated, or you can be normal and see that a casual encounter does not a bond make.

The only person on that team who is legit there to take down Superman and Batman is Major Force. Everyone else is varying degrees of "something's fricky and we need to sort it out."

Actually had a character and stories around him. He was powerful, but had his weaknesses. He wanted to reconnect with the family he lost, but was stopped by Eiling and the US government blackmailing him into missions, including infiltrating the Justice League as a fake hero. He liked being a hero, rebelled, and stopped a cult in the process.
