This is one of the movies flaws. The VO states “I was trying to find out who he was, Nicky just hit him. Nicky didn’t care.”
You would think that this would come back later in the film, like this was an important figure and they fricked with the wrong guy. But nope, he’s a nobody, so it doesn’t matter that he got pen stabbed in the throat and almost died.

Also guys dont forget about The Aviator, I think its his most underrated kinos along with DiCaprio´s performance.
The Aviator sucked because it made up way too much, and didn’t go into how HH bought several Las Vegas hotels which were then run by “the Mormon mafia”.
Scorsese has made nothing but shit for over 40 years and Casino is even worse than Goodfellas which was already trash.
