A girl I went out with a few times had a long string of mundane blogger type jobs with different start ups and random tech companies. Then one day she was suddenly an executive vice-president at IBM. most of these mid-level corporate jobs are more cutthroat than most people realize
even for women who became this sacred pet companies like to hold up and put it upfront so no one can accuse them with hostile work enviroment and misoginy
It's not as crazy or unusual as you think for younger women these days. If they have like a masters degree or phd in a certain field, are charismatic, talk well and are super confident and say all the right social and political talking points women can jump up the ladder pretty quickly.
Being attractive also really helps.
I know a girl who out of college has gone to work at Ernst & Young and in 2 years has gone from earning nothing to earning like 200k a year in some managerial position because she's got all the qualifications and is really charismatic and ambitious. Obviously that's still a long way off what Elons girl did but these days women could probably jump up the corporate ladder much faster than men.
