It would be the fifth film. We won't get past three.

My interest in Childran o dune just went to zero.

Technically in the Dune universe there isn't any distinct race group. Humanity has mixed to the point that humans all have olive skin. Both Paul and Chani are described as having olive skin. Only the Harkonnen are described with pale skin because they barely get any sun from the pollution in the skies of Gedi-prime.

Paul and Chani are "olive skinned" because of the sun, not because they're mutts tho.

The Atreides can trace their lineage to ancient Greece which is why he's described as having olive skin. Duncan's eyes are described as having an Asian look with the shape of his eyelids. We're talking literally tens of thousands of years of the various human groups going off and interbreeding with each other in across the galaxy.

I always assumed Duncan was some kind of American Indian based on his last name.

Again. It shows how humanity has become indistinguishable from one another. The only people who end up looking different are the Harkonnen cause of the lack of sunlight, the Bene Tleilax mostly because they do a lot of genetic engineering and anyone who has been exposed to Spice for so long they cannot exist without it and become aquatic looking creatures from the mutations it causes and they're like that cause they're navigators for space travel.

It seems reasonable the isolated populations on some planets would develop a common phenotype over time. How long have the Fremen been on Dune?

                Anonymous

They're originally made up of a nomadic space traveling people of various groups. So they would have been a mixed group which you see in the movie. Dune takes place 20,000 years into our future which itself is split into two timelines AG (after guild) and (before guild) which refers to events after and before the formation of the empire is established, CHOAM is formed and the spacing guild. There was 10,000 years of time before that was made and another 10,000 after, which is more than enough time for human groups made of various races colonizing and interbreeding and leading to a very homogenous look throughout the species. With the Fremen they only differentiated between each other mostly by how much you believe the religious tales. Basically just planetary culture becomes the only thing that makes people different from one another as all these worlds were founded by ethnically mixed people.

                >as all these worlds were founded by ethnically mixed people.
That's fine. But my assumption would be these worlds would regress to a genetic mean over time.

Dunc Messiah is so short that Penis Villeneuve would have to expand pauls jihad and actually show it or incorporate children of dunc into the second half of the movie.

Denis said he won't go past Messiah.
They already fricked it up by making the movies more feminist, which would undermine the Fish Speakers.

They also made Chani a mutt, so Leto II would need to be a mutt as well.

what actually causes him to turn into a worm? spice use? how gradual is the change? does he still have or desire sex once he's a worm? what was his reaction into turning into a worm? did he foresee it and was like "yeah, this is totally fine" or what?

      >what actually causes him to turn into a worm?
      Fish+spice.
      >how gradual is the change?
Couple years I think. There's an immediate affect though when he starts to merge.
      >does he still have or desire sex once he's a worm?
Kind of. He doesn't have a penis though.
      >what was his reaction into turning into a worm?
      Had to be done.
      >did he foresee it and was like "yeah, this is totally fine" or what?
Yes. That's why Paul is such a pussy. He saw the same thing but chickened out.

        >Yes. That's why Paul is such a pussy. He saw the same thing but chickened out.
It wasn't about becoming a physical monster it was about what needed to be done to humanity to save it from itself. Paul didn't want to live that life and wanted to live a life away from politics as his father did. His twin kids being pre-born and they decided to get it going with Leto II being a Kwisatz Haderach from birth allowed him to have better control over his access to ancestral memories to which he actually had a council of various personalities within him.

    >spends 3000 years pondering the future
    >somehow never even once even accidentally glimpsed how or where or when he would die
Also what's with Herberts fetish where every book a character gets injured or mindraped or something and their internal monologue is them going "wow this really hurts, I don't think anyone has ever been in as much pain as I am right now, owie this is surely the biggest boo boo in the galaxy" then the next book some new guy gets tortured and thinks the same thing almost verbatim. Just seems like lazy writing so he can keep the details of his mumbo jumbo vague because he probably doesn't even have a clue how half of it works.
