I have BPD/cPTSD so I can understand it. You live all your life in a state of constant high level anxiety and stress that colours your worldview pessimistically and can tip into fatalism very easily. I'll probably kill myself eventually, I would definately off myself in Smeryakov's position, there is no point going on. Especially when you can have the last laugh in one upping your shitc**t family, if I was Smerdyakov I'd say frick them all and leave them to stew in the mess they created
