          >WASHINGTON (TND) — A social media influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers apparently has a message for white people: don't go see "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" on opening weekend.

          >Instead, white people should purchase tickets to the Marvel superhero's new movie and give them to Black families, according to blogger Thee Lavynder Lee, otherwise known as "The Violet Vixen."

          >In a video apparently shared on her TikTok page, Lavynder Lee tells white people they can eventually see the movie on another weekend, "but the first weekend? that's for us [Black people]."

          > This message is to all our wimpy accomplices and [hand signals air quotes] 'white allies.' This message is to all the white people who have BLM in their bio," Lavynder Lee says in the Tiktok selfie video that has her Instagram handle and the words "Listen and Learn" at the top. "If you really want to prove to Black people that you love us and you care about us and you are down for the cause? Do not go see that movie [Black Panther: Wakanda Forever] opening weekend."

          > You [white people] buy your ticket, you give it to a Black person or a Black family who can't afford to go," Lavynder Lee insists in the video. "And then you go sit in that theater, in front of the doors. you make sure that every Black person in that theater can enjoy that movie in peace. You make sure that you use your body to block us from anybody who'd be coming in that theater to do us harm. That is your job.

There is a serious lack of self awareness or ability to think even a few moments into the future.

      >Fueling ticket sales was an influx of African American and Hispanic moviegoers that flocked to cinemas during the weekend. Like “Black Panther,” “Wakanda Forever” features a predominately Black cast, but it also has several Hispanic actors. These two demographics were immensely important to the box office success of the first film.

      >EntTelligence estimates that 36% of ticket buyers were African American, more than double the demographic typically represents for other Marvel films. The Hispanic audience accounted for 13% of ticket sales.

      >″‘Wakanda Forever’ is living up to expectations as not just an important tentpole blockbuster for Disney and movie theaters, but also a memorial to Chadwick Boseman that fans are sharing and experiencing together,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.

every theater takes pictures and video of the audience inside each theater, and several people process the images/video, noting the person's race, what they're wearing, whether they were engaged with the movie, etc. trying to identify the person basically & link it with real name profile data. it's a company called posttrack that does it, a competitor of cinescore, which mainly does old style surveys where you asked a person what they thought instead of taking and extracting and profiling what can be known

Supposedly there are companies that take images of the audience for marketing research.

every theater takes pictures and video of the audience inside each theater, and several people process the images/video, noting the person's race, what they're wearing, whether they were engaged with the movie, etc. trying to identify the person basically & link it with real name profile data. it's a company called posttrack that does it, a competitor of cinescore, which mainly does old style surveys where you asked a person what they thought instead of taking and extracting and profiling what can be known

They also can track demographics to a certain extent from credit card information.

You're telling me they've got race identifying AI in theaters but they aren't using it on every part of the inner city to track crime in real time?

      Anonymous

It's not AI driven yet, but companies are trying to train AIs up for this purpose. It's a camera that takes pictures or video of the audience at specific spots during the movie. Then a group of people look over the footage, with each person trained to make a specific observation. Somebody notes everybody's race, some people watch your specific expressions or engagement at certain parts. All this information goes into a file on you and is used for various business purposes and to make the next movie.
