Doesn't americans have savings in the bank? Do they really live paycheck to paycheck? I have the most average europoor job with the most average europoor salary and, if I were to lose my job, I could comfortably mantain my current lifestyle for a couple of years.

Most Americans are in crippling credit card debt just to keep up with the Joneses. Losing your job means that debt compounds in addition to rent not getting paid on time in addition to car payments not getting paid on time in addition to...etc.

Not me. I got excellent credit and was able to do fine on my own paying rent. Turns out, the key is to not be moronic with your money.

Around 90% of the entire Earth's population has less than $1000 USD in savings, lives week to week and would be financially crippled by an unforeseen emergency.

Americans not only live paycheck to paycheck they live huge on credit as well. So the moment they lose their jobs they are screwed unless they have emergency savings fund which most don't

Bankers convinced them that this is the best way to live your life, and the newer generations were brought up with it. In the EU many of these practices are banned, but in the US the banker lobby is huge.

I don't want to sound arrogant but how shitty are you at managing your life if a 180$ loss ruins your entire month?

This cannot be real. I refuse to believe that a large majority of American's have basically 0 money. Even when I worked a minimum wagie job I had enough sense to save what I could.

When people complain about being paycheck-to-paycheck they are leaving out their full 401k contributions and savings and leaving out that they eat out 10+ times a month and have multiple vehicles, streaming services, etc. It's a false statistic, paycheck to paycheck is supposed to mean scrounging through your car for the last .50 cents you have to run your clothes at the laundry mat, there's just a victim complex in most people's brains that makes them have to pretend to be poor online for brownie points

No paycheck to paycheck means I have the same clothes I owned 8 years ago, means I don't wash them until I've worn them 5 times (not underwear), means if I wanna save a penny this month I'll be eating exclusively ramen noodles. I don't go out to eat more than twice a month and those are usually the cheapest fast food deals at the time. I don't pay for streaming but I do have a car insurance and internet. Basically I live in fear of the next issue with my car that bankrupt me. Oh and I do buy booze and weed to cope but you'd be surprised how little you can spend on that. I use a lot of gas too cause I drive to woods for recreation

It depends on where you live? In most movies, the trope happens to an actor or actress who is trying to make it in Hollywood. In that case, it's pretty realistic because LA and New York are expensive as hell and actors dont make as much as people think. People have posted on Cinemaphile about actors losing everything and working in restaurants or other low level jobs as their career dies. If you live in a normal place in America, you would probably have savings and a house with payments lower than apartment rent. Anybody outside of major cities who can't survive after losing their jobs is probably a manchild who has no understanding of money.

    >job is linked to medical insurance
    >you need to actively use a credit card to build a 'credit score' so you can get actual loans for a house, etc

This means you're generally 'forced' to have credit card debt. Ideally, you should be able to pay it off. The other problem is compunded with the lack of gimmies from the gubberment meaning unlike in Yorup, they're usually pretty fricked. Not to mention that most laws for jobs or renters, etc are in favour of the landlord/employer so that shits all over them too

All in all, it is like that for many of them

It's actually very easy to pay off your credit card if you don't spend more than you are capable of paying. I have zero debt from 5+ years of useage, my credit score is like 730 or something

No, you need to generally have 'high' irregular amounts. Subscriptions aren't going to cut it

There is going to be a major reckoning on property law within a few decades due to nobody buying houses. Within my life time we will wind up with a situation where the vast majority of all real estate is owned by a handful of giant corporations. Once word of this gets out, it's only a matter of time before millennials (now the majority in congress) act against these corporations.
