        >lol the multiverse Spider-Men are one note gags as opposed to their source material, but they're soooooo wacky!!!!
All of Lord and Miller's licensed IP movies have this same energy where their only source of humor is acknowledging and mocking the source material or stuff related to it in a meta way rather than finding "in-universe" humor potential, 21 Jump Street had it, Lego Movie had it, Lego Batman had it, and Spider-Verse had it. My guess is they also made a mockery of Solo and that's why Disney fired and replaced them. Not that the Solo we got was good, just pointing out their MO.

He was in it for five seconds
            >even then Noir was cool.
And a joke compared to the source material

This wasn't a movie interested in exploring Spider-Man's multiverse, this was a movie interested in pushing Miles, and to do that they added a bunch of "silly ridiculous alternate Spider-Men" so no one is allowed to question why the hell are they pushing Miles, but they couldn't find enough silly alternates so they just fricked up existing serious takes.

I'll never get the MCUgays reeeeing over him. He didn't even say the movies are bad, just that they're not art. He said they're like fun theme park rides. What's wrong with that? The absolute insecurity of MCUgays.

        Anonymous

He did say that comparisons to theme park rides is saying it is shit

          Anonymous

How? This is what he said:

          >“I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema,” Scorsese told Empire magazine. “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

How is that saying they're shit? He's just saying they're entertaining but not trying to be meaningful cinema. What's wrong with that? Can't homosexuals just accept that their movies are hugely popular? Does everyone also have to worship them too?

            >How is that saying they're shit?
Anon, in that very quote you posted he said:
            >It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

            >He's just saying they're entertaining but not trying to be meaningful cinema.
The problem is you're thinking in a false dichotomy that cinema is either "enteraining blockbusters" or "meaningful cinema". Cinema is a range of things. Scorcese is absolutely saying they are shit when he said that about quote. Even films that aren't "meaningful cinema" can convery emotion or psychological experiences. He absolutely belives they are damaging cinema.

You seem to be lessening his tone as if he is just saying "they are forgettable entertainment" when he's actively saying they are damaging.

            >Can't homosexuals just accept that their movies are hugely popular?
He's more just lamenting the overall damage that MCU has done to cinema as a whole. Corporations like Disney have a stranglehold on cinemas which means they can control them. And now with streaming they have more influence. A component of popularity will always be about what is being put out there and big budget movies have forced out mid level or low budget movies (aside from certain genre films) out the cinema. And this in turn damages the art of the movies getting made and what people are aiming for. Everyone wants an MCU and a franchise and it worsens the issues.

And lamenting that this is happening is NOT the same as someone refusing to accept a situation. You can accept the reality of a situation without liking it.

It's funny because there's very little wokeshit in it.

Valkyrie is a dyke, but only talks about how the women she loved died.
Korg is "gay" but that's only because his species only has one sex.

There's no antagonism between Thor and Jane, there's no "Mjolnir chose her because she's better" girl power crap, it literally works for her because Mjolnir's spell internalized Thor's love for her back when they lived together.
Granted, Valk does fill the "hypercompetent lady" role, the brains of the team, but that's because she's playing (ironically) straight man to Thor and Jane, both of whom are kinda just bumbling around trying to brute force things.

Probably he was a larger part of an earlier draft before Taika realized Russel Crowe Zeus was funnier and allowed the bit part to swallow up the story. Basically how Hela was billed as the main threat of 3 but the entire middle of that movie is just a worse Planet Hulk.

Disney isn't going anywhere. In the end, there will be 2 or 3 subscription services and Disney will be one of them. And as time goes on, the content they put out will become crappier and crappier. Until something else comes along and replaces that, which will also decay in quality as time goes on. And the cycle will repeat forever.

                >Decided on carrying on some heroes and introducing a bunch of new shit.
                >Disney+ streaming joining it which added different pressures.
                >Tried to give more creative voices to directors e.g. Raimi.
                >Ended up a divisive mess.
                >So many threads making it feel like wheel spinning with no direction.
I mean either they should have gone for a full palate cleanser or a risk like a time skip with new heroes and less origin stories or start a new threat straight away. Given what Feige has been saying recently, it feels like this wheel spinning is coming to an end and they are now choosing a direction. So whether or not the next phase of Marvel succeeds is whether or not they are in real trouble. And people saying it is all over now are jumping the gun a bit.

how did spiderverse or guardians do this?

                >guardians do this?
Look at the change in comics:
                >DnA cosmic saga.
                >Much loved, many characters, epics.
                >GotG is popular and they wanted syngery and to change it to a new direction.
                >Had to end it.
                >Bendis GotG.
                >Stupid memes.
                >Ditched the character looks to be more like the movies.
                >Ignored previous stories.

      Anonymous

Eternals was okay, not great but there was nothing actively bad about it except the half baked self insert female lead. Multiverse of Madness is much much worse from a film standpoint, literally the only good thing about it are the several Raimi moments, everything else was unwatchable garbage.

      Anonymous

      >for not being gay enough
I would correct you there. The issue they had with Natalie was that she essentially had nothing to do. You literally can't please people because if you have all these characters you have to give them more and more to do in the plot otherwise they are "token". You literally can't please these people. Most of them seem to want series like Ms Marvel that's full of politics and is "highly rated" but literally no one is watching it.

      >fire that was Eternals
Eternals was bland but no where near as bad as some people are making it out to be. This was worse.

It was really amateurishly made. When I first saw this clip I assumed a bunch had been cut out, but apart from one small bit of dialogue this is how it plays out in the film.

at 0:08 Tessa Thompson hiccups but they left it in, they couldn't go for a second take? And that weird cut at 0:18 is in the movie as well.

              >The Volume actually looks good
It looks good only when it's used by smart people like the team behind Mandalorian.
Now, you can already see with Kenobi and those new movies that it looks like shit when the director is a hack who can't handle it.

The Batman also used the volume/stagecraft and it looked great. Granted, the cinematography basically invented it.

Its easy to make CGI look great when everything is in the dark.
Darkness has been a cover for effects since the ancient drive-in monster movies.
WB used dark scenes as a fig leaf for SFX religiously.

So they used film techniques to mask limitations that would have otherwise detracted from the movie?
                And this is bad way?

                Anonymous

Its lazy. Godzilla is now as nocturnal as a possum. It's appropriate for Batman of course.
Just saying that WB CGI is no better than anyone elses, its just that all their CGI happens in the dark/underwater/bad weather/in the dark underwater with bad weather.

So they should have obliterated the frame with enough light to confuse it with a supernova so everything looks flat and exposes CG?
You realize obscuring cg is why Jurassic Park still looks good? The darkness masks what animatoric and the CG?

And just because the shot is dark doesn't mean CG can be hidden or the scene would still be good.
That ending fight in BvS was absolute dogshit and it was totally dark and still didn't mask how bad the CG was or make Snyder's directing any less terrible.
