>Don't assume other people samegay
When did I say anything about samegayging, you troglodyte? I find it entirely plausible there are two separate morons.
Even if true, it's more than Lameron and Finoocher.
Malick >>>> all of those talentless hacks
Malick is peak midwit. His movies have the most boring messages presented in the most heavy way possible. He should stick to motivational seminar videos.
The Tree Of Life is a ponderous, pretentious, overly long, poorly edited disaster. You aren't impressing anyone by pretending to like it.

No anon, if someone likes what you dislike they're not pretending, you need to understand that people do not work as a hivemind unless they're chinese

It's really glaringly obvious that there was a bunch more stuff with Sean Penn that ended up on the cutting room floor so he could squeeze in more CGI dinosaurs. >No anon, if someone likes what you dislike they're not pretending
Not necessarily, no, but I'm more sure than ever that you're just posturing because you think celebrating a film like Tree Of Life makes you seem cultured and enlightened.

It's not even the most beautiful film Terrence Malick has ever shot. Also, yeah, storytelling matters in a film. If you want a purely visual medium, go stare at a painting.
Ponderous doesn't mean bad, it can be both ambitious and great.
Pretentious is a buzzword without meaning. Usually you assume something about the director and then you don't see that in a film and seethe. It's a strawman.
I agree that the CGI dinosaur scene was pretty bad, I am not the original poster you were replying to, I don't think The Tree of Life is the best film ever made or anything but it is still great. It's not overly long, in fact it's just two hours, that's an average film length. There's an almost three hour director's cut of Tree of Life if you want to see what was cut. But I never felt like the theatrical cut was lacking.
I don't give a frick about muh enlightment. Malick is one of the best directors to portray the Americana aesthetic and in Tree of Life I specifically like his ambition of making a parallel between a family history and history as a whole. The space sequence was beautiful and CGI dino's while pretty bad had like a few seconds of screentime.
Badlands is still his best film.
Also film is a medium that's primarly visual. It can include other elements but they're an optional feature. A bad script can be salvaged into an okay film by great direction while no matter how good the script is if the film is visually uninteresting, or the dirdection is straight up bad the film itself will be bad. There a lot of great films which don't have much story going on. My favourite director is Tsai Ming-liang and he's one of the examples. Visuals produce certain emotions or relate to the concepts introduced throught the script in a meaningful way. Tree of Life could not have been shot any other way. Badlands wouldn't work if was shot in any other way. You can do it with most good films they're good because the direction is fitting.

Careful, you might hurt my feelings. Badlands, Days Of Heaven and Thin Red Line are objectively far superior to anything Malick has made since. His most recent works are basically just two hour commercials for cologne. Good looking people frolicking through fields and playing with each other's toes while whispery voice over narrations go on about nothing in particular. It's impossible to be filtered by something so vapid. I'm not exactly the first person to notice that he's become style over substance. He should have retired decades ago, around the time he ran out of ideas.

Covering your ears and saying “la la la la la” doesn’t make narratives/themes disappear either. Except To the Wonder, that film was about nothing.
it’s not even that Tenet didn’t make money, it’s that Tenet was genuine dogshit. nolan has been a decline for multiple movies now, don’t have much hope for oppenheimer either. with cameron shackled to blue people shit for the next century i don’t see anyone on the horizon making blockbusterkino
That's the stupidest thing anyone has ever said in the history of human beings. Congrats on such a prestigious achievement.

all biopic fricking sucks because you already know the story, there's not a silage interesting or intriguing one, that's a fact

You do know that it's not only about the story? Like the portrayal of character on screen in motion is already more than just reading an article, and it will also be well directed since it's Nolan.
I'm not saying this is gonna be the best film of all time or anything, Nolan is frankly underrated but this is something new for him.

Lawrence Of Arabia isn't good enough for you? How about Patton? Does Amaedus suck because you know Mozart dies? Goodfellas? Downfall? Spartacus? Ghandi? Bronson? Mishima? The Elephant Man? You want to tell me all of those films are bad because you "already know what happens?" Because that's fricking moronic as frick. As if there is any question whether or not John McClane is going to make it to the end of a Die Hard movie, or whether or not Vin Deisel is going to make it to the end of a Fast And Furious movie. Tension comes from empathy, from empathizing with characters who don't know what their fate is going to be. You're not smart or impressive or clever because you can connect dots. Frick off with your limp-wristed I'm so smart posturing.

Goodfellas is a biopic
So is Casino
And Raging Bull
And The Irishman
And so is Dunkirk
And Schindler's List
Okay, I'll hold your hand like you're a disabled child and walk you through this. See, cinema is in jeopardy in the first place because streaming services and home releases are threatening people's willingness to go to a theater and pay twenty dollars to see a movie they could just as easily wait a few months to see in the comfort of their own homes. If a movie performs really well in theaters, it's become a trend to hail it as a savior of cinema because it's helping an industry that is currently on life support. So, when OP said what he said, he was obviously referring to the underwhelming financials of the film and any responses were simply on topic. Hope that helps!
How much would you have to pay the US govt to detonate a nuclear bomb? Like what would be the smallest one that realistically is no longer being needed? Like a genie missile or something gathering dust in a warehouse somewhere?
If the DoD gives the ok, you could do it right?
Yes, the fire rises
Yes. We saw how he saved cinema with Tenet.
There's only Cruise and Cameron at this point. Nolangays got exposed hard.
>one bomb because of covid
>OMFG IT'S FRICKING OVER
>talking about box office performances
lmao Tenet was mediocre and forgettable.
How about dunkirk? I still remember regretting watching that shit in cinema hall.
filtered by Nolan's best film
>the movie sucked because not enough people saw it
lol, lmao
>Tenet
>a movie that underperformed due to being released during the peak of a global pandemic
and your point is
>caring about the box office and not whether the flick is good
do (You) really
So you don't backtrack a reply chain before you off and respond to it I guess? Not advisable since it makes you look like a simpleton
Don't assume other people samegay just because you do, it makes you look like a simpleton.

Malick should direct perfume commercials, not films.
Those frauds should make something half as kino as the Tree of Life, but we both know they’re not capable of it.

Us Kinophiles call it meandering.
Correct. Nolan undoubtedly proved he was a hack even before Tenet.
>First Nolan movie with a black lead
>flops
What did society mean by this?
"We're scared to spend two hours in a room sharing oxygen with strangers during a pandemic." That's what society "meant" by it.
cope cinemas would be boarded up squats full of Black folk smoking crack today if it wasn't for tenet
Not his fault ADHD zoomers couldn't pay enough attention to understand it.
>cameon
lol nice try avatargays
this shit is gonna make less money than the batman
Tenet was the first american film that made decent money since the beginning of the pandemic.
it's the film that brought people back to theaters

you can just read wikipedia article, making a movie out if it is pointless

you can "know the story" of any movie by reading a wikipedia article you dumbass
Oppenheimer?
i hardly know her!
So he makes the bomb for 2 hours then says the line, bravo Nolan
You can do that with any movie, smart one.
>LOTR
>Two midgets walk to a mountain for nine hours
I would prefer:
NOLAN
a film by Joshua Oppenheimer
Where will Nolan detonate his 5 Megaton bomb to avoid CGI ? Does he have a contract with the US Army ?
it better fricking be there

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I AM BECOME HECKING DEATH!!!!!!! DESTROYERINO OF WORLDS!!!!!!!!
If he doesn't detonate an actual nuke for this one I'm not watching it. It should also have a scene of Truman calling him a cretin lmao
Oppenheimer was a communist israelite who took credit for the work of others
This shit wrapped filming in May. There's no reason it should take more than a year to edit.
>period piece
>biopic
>stong male lead performance
This is Nolans Oscar bait
SHINDERU
Nolan always makes real sets right, he crashes a plane last time
Is he going to build a real nuke for this?
obviously, what do you think Russia vs Ukraine was is actually about?
Such a cliched fricking Nolan poster. Not interested.
>it's not Oppenheimer anymore...it's Death!
Best directors:
Mel Gibson
Rob Zombie
Snyder
WORST directors:
Nolan -- tenet SUCKS!
Michael bay
M night however you spell it.
sneed
How much would you have to pay the US govt to detonate a nuclear bomb? Like what would be the smallest one that realistically is no longer being needed? Like a genie missile or something gathering dust in a warehouse somewhere?

nukes arent just some toys you can buy and blow up as you please.
I thought this was a mock poster but it's real. What the frick...
>no nigs
Is white America back?
It never existed. You can't be white and American
Mr. President, I'm Become Death.
REAL NUCLEAR DETONATION
I am become Bane, destroyer of planes
If they use fricking CGI for Trinity while Peter Kuran provided us with high quality nuke tests for the past 30 years, I'll be mad.
>no black people
spike lee's gonna be pissed.. again
how hard will they cancel him this time?
