Thoughts on this series, both the original run and the post-Pratt books? On the animated movies?
Are you looking forward to the Frank Miller Productions entries?

The Hugo Pratt stuff was a bit over the place. Some of the arcs felt a bit half assed, both in story and art but when it was good, it was brilliant. Never read any non-Pratt.
I saw one animated movie and it was quite alright. Definitely kept the aestethic but as it happens with animation, the mileage will vary depending on the quality of the voice acting.
It's a bit all over the place because it was a serialized strip, like most were back in the day.
Yeah, but beyond that. You have "sagas" that despite their serialized origins are much stronger than others, even in the graphic aspect. You can sorta tell when Hugo really had a story he wanted to tell or when he just needed cash.

Meaning?
A little clunky in art and writing, but enjoyable. The movies improved the flow of dialogue.
Frank Miller is writing or publishing new Corto Maltese comics, I think.
Frank Miller is making a live action Corto Maltese tv series for Studiocanal. If it's in production i don't know, but if we trust his input on The Spirit movie things don't look good.
Is Corto still going to be played by this Tom Hughes guy?
He looks the part at the very least
Tried out the first series Ballad of the Salt Sea or something a while back but I got bored after about 10 pages.

It's a good time to remember that the Corto Maltese animated films were made in North Korea.
I think a guy who worked on it even did a graphic novel about him going to North Korea.
Yes, the book is Guy Delisle's Pyongyang.
I'm a goddam casual who has never read one. Should I just start in chronological order?
Seconding
>On the animated movies?
I can't remember which one I saw, but I remember it being very boring.
