A billion dollars that seemingly could not justify making her a main character in her own movie or have her prominently featured in any movie or show that released after it. Really activates those almonds, doesn't it?
>A billion dollars that seemingly could not justify making her a main character in her own movie or have her prominently featured in any movie or show that released after it. Really activates those almonds, doesn't it? >yeah it made money... but the wrong way!
No t really a fan of the first movie but in all fairness none of the MCU movies have really been solo movies in awhile. There is no supporting cast but rather a bunch of co-stars for all MCU movies.
>ugly >old >famously a diva off set >public still remembers the Endgame promotion tour and all the rumors of the Avengers cast hating her for being a c**t >plays a boring OP character whose comics don't sell either
They have tried for over a decade really hard to make Captain Marvel work, but Brie Larson as Carol Danvers was not the way to do it.
>famously a diva off set >famously >literally the first instance of this is a "dude trust me" story about the second Captain Marvel >she JUST did a Fast and Furious movie and somehow not a peep from the set of that
Are you a moronic person?
Nah, the chudcell has it in his mind that Brie laughed at his tiny dick, thus there's this enormous CaptainMarvelgate thing that is super pathetic.
To make things worse, a serious attempt was made to brigade the first movie and it was an embarrassing failure. So Brie hate is forever now, poor babies.
Her power level is a problem but not an insurmountable one. It's the fact that she's a flat character with no arc that is the issue.
Tony goes from being a self centered butthole to sacrificing himself for the universe.
Steve goes from idealistic patriot to more jaded as he sees the moral ambiguity of the modern world.
Bruce, despite the movies barely using him at all, manages to get a grip on the Hulk.
Thor is kind of all over the place.
Peter Quill was way more of a manchild in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and he's slowly been evolving into a responsibleTeam Dad.
Carol though? Her big thing is not knowing who she is because of her amnesia and then she gets told by her friends and the world around her "you're awesome" and she's just awesome from there on out. She didn't grow or change or develop at all.
They could have made it so Carol was a monster or something before she lost her memory and she has to deal with literally being that person and still having culpability even though she's not quiet the same now.
But no.
Brie could sure, but the character of Captain Marvel absolutely could not. You really gotta give it to feige, they wrote the most offensively boring superhero ever. She barely emotes, only talks when she has something snarky to say and is impossible to have stakes for because she's far and away the strongest hero in the MCU for no real reason.
Why did they make her so strong? Was there an actual reason, was it an accident, or was it a cynical "we need a girl to be the strongest ever because M-Power"?
>probably, they did such a shit job of giving carol a personality in her movie that they could do anything they wanted.
she has no personality in the comics either, ever since they made her ditch her leotard
>They could have given her one
They actually cant'.
Carol as she exists is the result of Marvel realizing they didn't have a really strong Wonder Woman equivalent. So they did a speedrun of forcing Carol into that role. And just like Wonder Woman, that means she can't have too strong a personality or any glaring negative character traits. She has to be pure and good and iconic in a bland enough way to represent an idealized strong female character

brie herself, maybe. she's not as effortlessly charming as the more popular mcu actors are. she's a bit weird and awkward, and not in the goofy girl next door way that jennifer lawrence fakes, more if i found out she was autistic, i wouldn't be surprised
>probably, they did such a shit job of giving carol a personality in her movie that they could do anything they wanted.

The actress or the character?
Character? Yes, easily.
Actress? Sweet frick no. She hit the wall and had a meltdown on the set of Raising Dad when she was upset over the bra wepisode
Ever since she was a kid she's been a problem.
Even ignoring her racism and sexism, there's a reason that she's been a no-name actress. They wanted another Robert Downey moment but instead just got the addict part of the personality
There was an episode where she was having envy about her not having breasts yet compared to her sister
Several times during the episode filming stopped due to her crying over t being too realistic
Considering the girl who played her sister was Kat Dennings, it's understandable
In order to turn her into this, they had to dump all her growth, and the first movie basically shit on the idea of growth. She's perfect and infinitely powerful, and her only mistake was that she ever listened to a man.
I consider myself a feminist, but you can't do anything with that. That character's complete, and her arc is complete before it even started. She doesn't even have like a Superman style desire to be an example but also have a normal life.
If she's gonna go solo, all you can do with her is have her be a bully, or depower her and start from scratch on creating an arc.
The character could easily carry 3 movies
The problem is the actress started shitting out about 'muh feminism isn't for White men AKA the biggest fanbase' so it was dead before it was walking
If they never had Brie 'I hate my flat breasts' in the role, they could have done the character in three movie carrying the arc herself
No, the problem is the character, *especially* the version of the character from the movie.
She's fricking done. There's no story to tell solo. She can beat anything easy and she's never wrong. She's not restrained by saintliness, like Superman, or guided by guilt, like Spidey. It's too expensive to have her fight for two hours. What would fricking fill the remaining time? Man after man coming up and telling her she can't do something and then she does it? How many times exactly do you think that can be satisfying in one movie?
her movie is one of the two MCU movies I still haven't seen and the other one is Eternals. And I'd actually bother to leave Eternals on if it was on tv.
Maybe with better material? I don't know though. She's a fine actress but I think she was unfortunately miscast in this role. She's just not convincingly tough enough.
Seeing as how she couldn't carry a solo film by herrself? No.

Hey, tell it to Disney, not us. They're the ones that gave up on Carol.
Then again, maybe they wanted to but Brie is a b***h to work with.
I mean they wanted to lean into Carol hard so her utter fricking disappearance besides Kamala fangirling over her in her show is really strange
She can barely carry her own ego without face planting. So no.
Seeing how can couldn’t do a solo by herself? No.

>So stupidly powerful she can kill Thanos easy peasy
>Worth getting invested in.
Lol, still loving how Endgame had to get rid of her ASAP.

grug no like woman with attitude.

qrd?
she seems quite unlikable.

>if they didn't let Brie ruin the character it could have worked
That is my argument
>no see cause Brie ruined it so you're wrong
Is your argument
Stop trolling please
Brie makes the problem worse. The problem is the script.
Stop being moronic.
Doubtful
YASSS, SLAY QUEEN
that movie was so bad i started reading my fricking bills halfway through it, i cant even get the words to say how non engaging it was
no

Wow what a great story. Tell us all about the other movies you haven't seen. Do you pathologically post about those movies too?
I do shit on Batman v Superman and Justice League occasionally, yes.
Maybe with better material? I don't know though. She's a fine actress but I think she was unfortunately miscast in this role. She's just not convincingly tough enough.
No one carried a film trilogy by themselves in the MCU
Yeah and I don’t really like Carol or the first movie. Brie’s cool.
>had to delay her sequel by almost half a year because it was such a fricking mess
she no longer has the Infinity War/Endgame hype to carry her.
The Marvels is going to gigaflop lol
Apparently they had to change Antman 3 because The Marvels got delayed so much?
