Loved the Bernard eps and I liked the ten speed/rollerskate one.

Maya is totally still in Xavier's side and she is the one who stole the cube.

OK, so, this review will be coming in bursts.

I watched "Craig of the Campus" after it aired in Hong Kong and the other episodes on their premiere.

"Craig of the Campus" was a good episode.

Craig is watching 'Haru: King of the Forest', where he finds the basis for the Heart of the Forest. The anime depicts the Heart of the Forest as akin to a magical wishing well. However, this doesn't seem to provide any clues as to where on the Other Side of the Creek it is, as the puzzle cube map is still incomplete. Bernard calls on him to go. He is taking him out to an ice cream convention, where there's supposedly a bunch of new flavors. In reality, this was a trick to get him to accompany him to a tour of the local college, the University of Herkleton. He is pissed right off. Bernard says he did that because he was afraid Craig would cause mayhem at home, and that it might be an opportunity to plan for the future. He responds by attacking him. Bernard offers to give him ice cream in exchange for his good behavior. Craig is still recalcitrant, prepping to slide around shirtless with soap, so Bernard pushes him out, much to his embarrassment.

After settling down, they go on the tour, where Craig begins to fall asleep. He complains that he's too young for it. He says he wants to live in the Creek when he grows up, which Bernard criticizes, saying it's too childish and unrealistic. Just then, Kenneth rolls by on a skateboard, catching Craig's attention. He calls out for his attention and tails him. Bernard is forced to follow. Craig stumbles onto one student, an acquaintance of Kenneth, who drops his books; Bernard picks them up. After going through the dorms, he ends up at a philosophy class. He is mistaken for a student by Prof. Knight. He tells him to be seated for an exam, but Craig walks out. When Bernard comes by, Prof. Knight orders him to sit down.

      Anonymous

Craig continues chasing him as he bumps into a mascot and Cousin Bobby from the Paintball Kids (haven't seen him in a while). Meanwhile, Bernard is intimidated by the exam. He looks and imagines the other students and Prof. Knight as monsters. Then he has the idea of filling in C for every answer.

Meanwhile, Kenneth moves too fast for Craig, so he uses a shortcut. He makes it to Kenneth just as he enters the cafe by crashing into the door. Kenneth realizes who he is, and offers him ice cream while he explains why he's at the college. At Prof. Knight's class, Bernard is handed a failing grade for the exam. Evidently, Bernard was mistaken for a student named Wazowski. When he tries to explain it to him, he interrupts, saying that he's not cut out for college, to his horror. Back to Craig, who's relaxing with an ice cream cone at the college fountain. Noticing the similarities to the Creek, Craig is told by Kenneth that college can be like that if he schedules classes right. Then Craig shows him the puzzle cube, which currently contains twelve pieces. He asks if he knows where the rest are. Kenneth says he doesn't. On whether the Heart of the Forest is real, he retorts that why would he hide the pieces? Then he asks what happens if he grows up alone.

Kenneth tells him how he used to be alone before he found the Heart of the Forest. He says that when he found it, he had to give up something that meant a lot to him. Then he sets off to his history of animation class, which impresses Craig. Afterwards, he finds Bernard lying on a bench, where he laments about how hard it is. He wonders if he is still a kid. Craig offers him an ice cream sandwich to make him feel better, but it has melted, and it falls on his lap. Craig brings him back to the car, and on the way home, he expresses excitement at returning to the Creek. This actually gives Bernard an idea.

This episode was quite fine for the most part. It was nice seeing the two get along.

        Anonymous

It was also interesting seeing a regular, actual school setting (in this case, a college). We haven't seen that before here. Of course, Craig does bring his sense of wonder to the university, but it was somewhat brief. My personal criticism is that the chase sequence between him and Kenneth ran a bit too long for my tastes. I think it should have been cut down a bit. I think more time should have been given to Bernard being subjected to the uncertainty of college and Craig's conversation with Kenneth. It would benefit, because I thought they were the best parts of the episode, showing a taste of college life. The dichotomy between the confident Kenneth and the uncertain Bernard was a very poignant contrast. It's something I have felt during my time in college. I've gone through a lot of stuff such as the pandemic, so it felt quite relatable to see. Anyway, I think it could have been improved by cutting a bit if the chase sequence, but I will say that the episode helps set up an interesting mini-arc with Bernard going to the Creek, so that's exciting.

        I would give this episode a 9/10.

"Wheels Collide" was a pretty fun episode that falls apart towards the end.

Craig is filming the 10 Speeds with a stunt routine called "The Tread and Shred", which has two people launching their bicycles off a ramp and high-fiving in mid-air. Handlebarb and Warpspeed execute it perfectly, but Todd panics and covers his eyes as he launches, causing him to miss Cannonball and bury himself into the ground. Once they pull him out, he apologizes, but Cannonball says that it's alright. They conclude the video and thank Craig for filming them. Handlebarb declares the group "the Wheels of the Creek", which prompts Craig to think of introducing them to some similar kids from the Other Side who he thinks could hit it off with them. He says it's his duty to unite the kids of the Creek. The Roller Derby Kids – Mariah, Scoots, Razor, and Dillard – practice at their skating rink. Scoots and Razor goad Dillard to do a flip. Craig and the 10 Speeds come by just as he wipes out. The other two girls pick him up and Razor assures him.

Mariah meets Craig and asks him, "Who are the trike tykes?". Handlebarb is insulted. Craig introduces the two quartets to each other. He explains to a confused Mariah that they are alike. Handlebarb, Warpspeed, and Cannonball express confusion while Todd falls over. Mariah, Scoots, and Razor do the same while Dillard falls over. Of course, Craig can tell that everyone in each group has similar traits that make them alike. Handlebarb and Mariah are tough, Warpspeed and Razor are wild, Cannonball and Scoots are impossibly cool yet down-to-earth, and Todd and Dillard are "Todds" or "Dillards" (i.e., clumsy). They're still not convinced by any of Craig's assertions. Handlebarb remarks how she considers bikes more dangerous and skates for babies. Mariah defends it as equally exhilarating with time and practice. Handlebarb escalates by claiming the superiority of two-wheelers, and she shoots back about seats.

            Anonymous

Cannonball and Scoots join in the trash talk, so Mariah challenges the cyclists to a relay race, to Craig's reluctance. They take the challenge as Mariah declares her group "the Wheels of the Creek".

At the bike path, each member is in position. The others keep arguing, but Todd and Dillard do get along well. Mariah and Handlebarb ignore his pleas for peace, so he reluctantly starts the race. Mariah gets an early lead, but Handlebarb catches up and overtakes her to relay with Warpspeed. Mariah tells Razor to not let the others get ahead (ignoring Craig's platitudes). She spots a rock ramp and launches herself over Warpspeed, flipping over him and surging ahead. He appears to compliment her flip before threatening to run over her. Todd talks to Dillard about expecting to get his training wheels off in 1-2 years, but he's taking his time. Before the latter could add to it he is shoved by Razor and gets run out of control. Warpspeed then pushes Todd to keep up the momentum. Todd keeps his eyes closed as he goes too fast for comfort, causing him to hit a rock that launches him outward, hitting Dillard and sending them both flying at Scoots and Cannonball.

The boys tap their respective hands at the exact same time. They launch into high speed, towards the sky, apparently causing a fracture in it, to Craig's shock. Soon, the two teleport just past the finish line at the exact same time. Cannonball and Scoots promptly get into a huge argument all about it. Then Craig notices that the sky is falling. When a piece of it hits Cannonball, he and Scoots determine that they went too fast. They have ended up summoning the Speed Demon, an ancient god of destruction. Really. It circles around into a tornado. Todd is lifted up by the force of the vortex, causing the others to grab on to him, with Craig and a pole as anchor. Scoots warns that if they don't do something, the Earth will stop spinning. Mariah determines that they have to race the vortex.

              Anonymous

Handlebarb decides it's a great idea, so she lets go of Craig's hand and they all fly off into the vortex, which disappears.

Craig finds one of Todd's training wheels on the ground, and he sadly wishes them good luck. Suddenly there's a flash. The eight kids have come back all banged up, with Dillard and Razor having caught the worst of it, losing at least one eye. Apparently, they spent a lot of time fighting the Speed Demon and his evil minions. Dillard lost an eye, which grew back. But then he lost both so they replaced them with robot eyes. When Craig realizes that they're friends now, Mariah says that they've fought the Speed Demon for eighty years at 200 miles an hour, and Cannonball says he saw his great-grandchildren. He shows Craig a photo of them. They're all nice (except for that jerk Jonah), and they all resemble him. Speaking of which, Handlebarb admits that they were quite alike, and then reveals that Mariah's group is called the Maverick Splinters. Thing is, Craig never really asked. He apologizes for assuming they would get along because of their shared love for wheels. Handlebarb assures him it's alright, and Mariah says what matters is who was here first. Cue yet another argument.

I thought the episode was alright for the most part. The idea of two mirror-image groups on different sides of the Creek was quite fascinating. It was fun to see the two groups do stunts, especially with the Roller Derby Kids for the first time. And the problem of such groups not getting along immediately was quite realistic. Just because they act similar doesn't necessarily mean they'll hit it off. And the episode does a good job showing it, with arguments being set off all around. I would also like to appreciate how Todd and Dillard quickly got along with being the clumsy members of their respective teams. It was quite charming, and they made a pretty great duo. Now, my personal criticism is the climax with the Speed Demon.

It's already rather fantastical, which I know is somewhat par for the course here, but in this episode it comes across as a deus ex machina, coming rather out of nowhere and forcing the resolution rather abruptly and ridiculously for my tastes. Maybe they should have tried trading each other's wheels just to see what it would be like. It's something I would watch. Another suggestion I thought of is adding the Horse Girls to the mix but I don't know how they would gel onto the episode.

I would give this episode an 8.5/10

"Bernard of the Creek" was a great set of episodes.

While Craig rakes the leaves in the backyard, Bernard is video chatting with Alexis, who is touring a college. She's kinda bored and she wants to go to a music festival with their friend Cariss. But she says she's willing to put up with it for a successful future. That strikes Bernard, causing him to sweat profusely before he snaps out of it. She notices that he's been distant ever since he went on the tour of the University of Herkleton. He hasn't been going to most of the student council meetings and if he did, he was usually wearing pajamas. He claims that he's not stressed about it. Alexis hangs up when she receives a reminder for her to check out her college's fencing class. When he hears Craig celebrating finishing his chores and running off to the Creek, Bernard stands up (forgetting his pants) and asks to come with him, to Craig's confusion. When he arrives, he is overjoyed at the sight of kids having a lot of fun. He catches a ball that was about to hit him and throws it at a trio of kids, accidentally hitting one. One of the others asks him to join. Craig and his friends are confused, but to his outrage, Kelsey, J.P., and Omar all think he's kinda cool.

When Bernard invites them to join him in playing catch, the others enthusiastically join in. Later they try to take down a can stuck in a tree, where Bernard ends up using Kelsey's sword with Omar's bow to knock it off. Craig is still dismayed. When they start floating down the sewers, however, Craig actually starts to enjoy spending time with his brother, and soon they play horse and watch the sunset at the Horse Girls' Meadow. The next day, they enthusiastically head over to the Creek. While Craig tells a knock-knock joke to J.P., Bernard gets a message from Alexis that she will arrive at the airport at 3:00 P.M. The Stump Trio and Bernard arrive at the Splintery Butt, where he played 'Bring Out Your Beast' back in Season 1.

                Anonymous

They go in and Bernard hears that he could play the game on a professional basis, since its popularity grew over the past few years. Reminiscing about winning matches, he decides to pursue a pro 'Bring Out Your Beast' player instead of college. That's when Turner, the girl who took his Beast Snare card, confronts him and demands a rematch. Since the cards are at home, he goes back to retrieve them.

In the match, the two are neck-and-neck. Unfortunately, Turner has an ace up her sleeve. She unleashes a Super Beast card, Mister Mayhem, that basically crushes him to the ground. And I mean literally. When he confesses that he hasn't heard about them, Turner mocks him for being too old, with some of the others piling on him as well. He receives another text message from Alexis, where she intends to see him at the airport. After he's pulled out, he drives off to the airport. However, when he notices an exit to a mall, he swerves over to the exit ramp instead like in the meme. He returns to the Creek dressed in a very flamboyant costume to challenge Turner to a rematch. When she accepts, he takes only a single turn to summon his Super Beast combo, which to everyone's disgust, was bought using the money from his job. The combo immediately after takes out Turner. Craig is impressed, but soon he goes on a power trip and defeats all the other kids in the game, to his horror.

That's when Alexis stumbles upon him. She had been left stranded by him at the airport. She had found out he was at the Creek from his parents. Demanding to know what was going on, he simply says he was playing. Shocked that he'd ignore her, she declares that she needs space from him and walks out of the Creek with luggage in tow. As it rains, Craig comes by to comfort him, but he runs off to the woods crying. He questions what he lost her for, and kicks a rock, stumbling on a hooded figure. "For the power and respect of children," he says, revealing himself as Elder Mark.

The next day, Craig and Kelsey have a debate over whether Reptiliana or Slide the Ferret could win a fight as Omar and J.P. eat snacks. Craig decides that they should visit the Elders to settle it, but Kelsey reminds him that it's just Mark now. When they arrive at Elder Rock, they hear Bernard talking to Mark inside.

They peer in and find Craig's brother dressed in a cape forming his RPG character. He's hanging out with Mark and Jerry (the kid from "Kelsey Quest" back in Season 1). Mark was subjecting Bernard and Jerry to double standards. When Craig says he thought he was in his room crying over being dumped by Alexis, he denies it, then he and Mark recount how the latter found him and gave him pizza rolls to eat with him. Bernard talks about subjecting himself to too much pressure and that snacks, games, and friends are all he really needs. When Craig questions it, Mark insists that Bernard needs to be left alone, so he shoos the others out. Craig is concerned. Back home, he asks Nicole for mac and cheese, but she can't do that because the dishes haven't been washed, plus the bins are full, the backyard wasn't mowed, and something horrible happened to the toilet. These just happen to be Bernard's chores. Craig complains that his brother has been neglecting his chores, but she wants none of it and threatens to ban him from going to the Creek.

The next day, Bernard is confronted by Craig, who demands that he do chores. He firmly refuses to do so. Not only that, he has begun to smell. He walks out, leaving Craig behind to do the chores. As he plays games, watches anime, and eats cheese puffs with Mark and Jerry, Craig cleans the house, sees the lawnmower launch into the sky, and…well… Later that night, when Bernard arrives home, Craig tells him off dressed in a bathrobe. He criticizes him for hanging out with Mark and Jerry too much while Bernard acts all defensive as he goes up. The next day, he lays cheese puffs on the floor.

It creates a trail that Bernard follows to the living room, where Craig is joined by Alexis, Amina, and Gibson to stage an intervention, since he spends too much time in the Creek. He hands over the 'Small Uncle' plushie to Amina for her to talk. Amina explains that he hasn't been responding to the student council group chat regarding the budget for the theater department. Then Cariss joins in via phone from the music festival where she is crowdsurfing. Somehow she gets the plushie there.

Anyway, she notes that despite that, she's still able to multitask and take part in the intervention, and takes him to task for ignoring everyone. Then she passes the plushie through the ether to Elder Barry, who suddenly appears out of nowhere. He explains how he's been "Mark-free" for three months (though Bernard doesn't even know him). He explains that Mark doesn't know how to be a friend, citing the example where he said Barry couldn't pull off a tattoo. He shows him a tattoo he did. It's a phoenix dressed like a maid, and he drew it on his stomach with markers, although it's incomplete since they dried out. Then Alexis interjects and explains that just because she wanted space didn't mean she didn't care about him either. She's so concerned about him neglecting his responsibilities to everyone. Bernard defends himself, saying he could be spending time having fun, like Cariss is doing, before walking out. Craig is disappointed, but Barry offers him another way. At the Creek, Bernard contemplates what happened. Mark tells him to cut them out of his life. He's about to question that when they hear a horn blowing outside. Jerry notes that someone has called an "alpha challenge".

Craig is standing outside. He calls out to Mark to challenge him for the position of the alpha nerd of Elder Rock. Mark scoffs, so he clarifies that he will be fighting someone else. Cue Alexis descending from the heavens like a Valkyrie. He promptly mocks her costume.

She announces herself as "Alexis, vice president of the SGA" (no last name?) and that she got the armor from the theater department. Anyway, Craig referees the fight; whoever disarms their opponent wins. The fight begins with her holding him up. Thank God for that fencing class. Mark says her boyfriend would never come back to her, but she retorts that she's fighting for Craig to be free from Bernard's chores. She pushes him off and tells him to yield, but he knocks her over with dice. Before he does the finishing blow, Mark boasts that he knows what's right for everyone. That's when Bernard interjects in agreement.

He says that it's OK to want to have fun, but not if it hurts the people he cares about. Mark mocks that advice. That earns him a kick from Alexis that knocks him over. Craig withdraws the challenge and they walk off as Mark laments how everyone is always leaving him (although Jerry wants to stay with him until 6:00 P.M., Mark refuses and shoos him away). Bernard apologizes to her, saying that he's been so overwhelmed by college and became scared of failure, he wanted to get away. She understands and offers him a break – this time together – to have Cariss sneak them to the music festival. He accepts, but Craig reminds him that he still needs to do the dishes. He agrees in exchange for wearing the cape to the festival.

This was very exciting. It is a very good character study of someone who is encountering a big crisis in his life. His fear of failure and the looming stress of college helped contribute to a sort of mid-life crisis that causes him to seek comfort in child's play. The problem here comes when he goes overboard with it and neglects his responsibilities in life. This is reflected in Mark, whose toxic behavior has caused nothing but misery to everyone. He serves as a cautionary tale about someone who is simply too unwilling to grow up for the better, as reflected in his treatment of Bernard and Jerry.

Another good facet of the episodes is how each character gets their moment to shine. Characters like Turner, Amina, Cariss, and so on get to hit their mark at the right points throughout. And some of the gags were quite funny, like with the mower. Also, how did they get away with that comment on Cariss's post where apparently Tabitha of the Witches of the Creek comments "LMAO"?

Craig, meanwhile, shows complex characterization as well, with him actually enjoying his company at the Creek. It's only when he starts neglecting his duties that he becomes bitter about it. His response is a combination of care for Bernard and his own self-interest, showing how they're not mutually exclusive. Another highlight would have to be the fight. Alexis definitely holds up her own right there. Reminds me of Karen Fukuhara's role as Glimmer from 'She-Ra and the Princesses of Power'. It makes sense, with very fluid and dynamic movements and fun trash talk throughout. And just look at the costumes! My only criticism is that I feel like Alexis didn't get enough screentime. It was a missed opportunity to actually get to know her more and see why she and Bernard are together in the first place. Maybe the show was planning it for the future. Apparently, she has a pansexual sticker on her suitcase, which does make it interesting, but I think it could have been done better.

All in all, this was a very wonderful special for the most part, showing how much change is a fact of life. It kinda reminds me of 'Big City Greens' in that regard.

                I would give this episode a 9/10.

"Left in the Dark" was pretty exciting.

We get a flashback of Omar's history with Maya, and how the two fell out as she stood by King Xavier's side during his reign over the Other Side and Omar became the Green Poncho to oppose the King's rule. It turns out to be Omar reminiscing about it; he has asked her to meet with him at Raj & Shawn's Candy Bar, and he's invited Craig along to make sure things don't get awkward. He's nervous about it. The patrons gasp as Maya enters the place. Craig invites her to sit down and as Maya and Omar try to talk, Shawn comes by with Choco milk dunkers and napkins, causing Craig to tell him to leave them alone. When she asks what's going on with them, Omar talks about the Heart of the Forest. He makes a mock-up of the puzzle cube map with some caramel cubes. Craig tells him to be quiet, since this is sensitive information, with the Heart of the Forest possessing powerful magic. Omar invites her to join them, but she declines his offer. She's just been accepted into the baseball team after so long, and with that her afternoons will be occupied, to Omar's joy and her relief, since no one would bother her about King Xavier. As he does so, he squishes the cube mock-up into a ball.

He accidentally throws it onto the hair of Wolfgang, AKA Tommy Top Hat, King Xavier's former dancer who Omar once fired an arrow covered in gum on his hair, leaving him with a bald spot that he is forced to cover with said hat and hatred for Omar. Everyone reacts with shock, save for Eliza, who relishes the sight. Angrily, he pulls it out, leaving yet another bald spot on his head, and demands to know who threw that. When Omar admits it, he flies into a rage and charges at him to attack. Maya tells the boys to get down and flips the table, spilling Choco Rolls on him. He throws them at Maya, who dodges them and lands at the bar. He goes after her, and she constrains him with a roll of candy dots, leading Shawn to take him away.

As he swears vengeance on everyone, one of the former Cherry Blossoms criticizes her for being too rough even though he was the one who attacked them. She decides to leave, as Craig says bye. Later, they meet up with Kelsey, Mortimor, and J.P. They got a tip from an eighth grader at the Herkleton Mills library who vaguely remembered once seeing Kenneth playing at a cave nearby.

As J.P. tracks the cave, Omar texts, "Sup?" to Maya, hoping to know if she's alright after what happened. When they arrive at the cave, the other kids get scared and ask Omar to go ahead. He fires an arrow with a glowing star into it, revealing an arrow made up of glow-in-the-dark stars pointing ahead. They slide down, except for J.P. who tumbles. They end up in a dark chamber, so Omar fires an arrow fitted with a disposable camera. When it shatters at the ceiling, the flash reveals a pattern of stars, cots, and a telescope: they have stumbled upon a planetarium. Omar recalls visiting one. Craig looks through the telescope and determines that the planetarium was constructed by astronomy kids as the light dies off. He asks Omar to fire another one, but he has only one left. He fires, and Kelsey and J.P. note the constellations. Craig keeps searching, but the light dies out again.

They decide to get more light when they hear a noise and some falling pebbles from above. Unsure as to what it was, they decide to meet up at the Stump tomorrow to work on a new light source. Once tomorrow arrives, Craig formulates a lighting rig using foil reflectors to create an intense light to hold the glow-in-the-dark stars long enough to find a cube. Meanwhile, Omar checks his phone; Maya still hasn't responded to his text. The Stump Trio gathers the necessary supplies and constructs the rig. After a while, it's completed, but when Omar reminds them that they still need to take it out of the Stump, they're forced to disassemble it and reassemble it back outside.

Afterwards, they bring it back to the planetarium and activate it. Craig looks through the telescope and finds a cube-shaped constellation; a cube is embedded in the middle of it. Omar needs more light to retrieve it with a suction cup arrow. Craig tries to activate the rig again, but this time it does nothing – one of the extension cords got disconnected.

J.P. notices something about the stars: a few seem to move. Kelsey plugs the cord back in, and it reveals someone on the ceiling. It is a figure in a red poncho wearing night-vision goggles and carrying a bow. They grab the cube and destroy the lighting rig. Omar fires a boxing glove arrow, but they kick it away. Kelsey attempts to confront them, but they just jump over. They run up to the entrance as J.P. asks Omar if he ever had a sidekick with a red poncho, which he denies. Craig takes out the arrow used to destroy the rig and finds a pattern of three circles on a poncho shape on a baseball that's stuck on it. He realizes that whoever they are, Craig and co. have competition for the Heart of the Forest.

This episode was quite interesting. First off, it ended in a cliffhanger, different from the previous three seasons which ended them conclusively. I presume this would lead to the ten-part special of the shortened Season 5 on July 10th. It looks like things have to wrap up quickly considering how long the Heart of the Forest plot line has gone. But there's still a lot going for this episode. I do appreciate how we get a look at Omar's dynamic with Maya after they reconcile, as well as how others look at her with suspicion due to her role as Xavier's BFF. It's a way to see how the scars of an autocracy can still be borne by society. Meanwhile, the subtle touches like Eliza smirking at the sight of Wolfgang fighting Maya really underline the intrigue that still goes on at the Other Side. Pacing was great, nothing dragged within the episode, and each character performed well.

I especially liked the scenes at the planetarium. And the ending was actually quite exciting to watch. I can't wait to see what happens in Season 5. And this was a great send off to the current season.

                I would give this episode a 10/10.

Lol I did think of chicken little. It's nice to see Craig as a mediator to other kuds in the creek.

Did anyone get lesbian vibes seeing Mariah and Handlebard talk to each other?

Yeah, the fantastical side can be hard to follow but usually some bit of reality to it. Like lets say someone throws a ball but it's animated like a dragon ball z power beam, obviously that didn't happen but it's still implied a kid threw a ball fast.

With the speed demon it's hard to actually gauge what happened.

Not me. Not that I don't mind.

Yeah, it's kinda troublesome. I know 'The Loud House' has been going through that lately.

as much as i like the idea for the bernard plot, it's stupid that he feels bad about failing a test for a class he wasn't even taking
