        >Die Another Day had the biggest box office of any bond film up to that time
And still, the franchise had become so stale and ridiculous it warranted a reboot only 4 years after Die Another Day. Casino Royale also made more than 200 million more at the box office, proving the franchise was really in need of saving.

You mean the movies which, as a whole, are classics and defined the spy genre? The ones which are beloved to this day? Ah, but Craig Bond was boring and gay, and therefore superior. Fricking midwit pseud.

That was the studio. He had almost nothing to do with it. They could've had him in a Die Another Day if they really wanted to. Just as they could've had Bronson in a Casino Royale level movie as his final one.

There's the same amount of time between No Time to Die and now, as Die Another Day and Casino Royale.

Critically it didn't do that well and financially, it didn't either but that was because it only got like 1 week in theaters before being put on Netflix.

it was considered worse than the first one but the reception from normalgays was still relatively positive, it was also a Netflix release so no idea how well it did for them, but Rian made a deal with Netflix for four Knives Out films, Glass Onion being the first for them, this new one the second

Jesus christ. I guess as a mystery penny novel kind of series that kind of fits but the actors he gets for these movies must balloon the hell out of his budget.

It’s so fricking dumb. Yet another rian SUBVERTING your expectations by having a mystery movie with no mystery. But in reality it’s just a really bad mystery movie with a dumb conclusion that’s supposed to be smart on a meta level like some fricking Joss Whedon quip.

          >the part with the random elderly Black person just somehow knowing what the world's most obscure puzzle box was
what random elderly Black person? the only Black folk in the movie were the engineering guy, the dead sister, and her twin (who opened the puzzle box by breaking it with a fricking hammer). And the entire reveal of the puzzle boxes was that they *weren't* actually very complicated or complex. Nearly all the information to solve them was googleable trivia.

Ryan wasn't able to make dumbshit scifi for kids, so he went to do a genre where consistency is basic requirement and critically failed to do basic shit.
