This isn't even true, I watched this show and there are multiple episodes where the murderer-of-the-week is black or other non-white or woman or whatever. They even have an episode where two women are initially portrayed sympathetically as left-wing social justice activists from the 70's, and then it's revealed that they're extremists who are wanted by the FBI for attempting to bomb a middle school attended by children of the wealthy.

It works well for me. Characters like hers are usually written as cynical know-it-alls that always get the last word. But the show has that old timey, natural charm to it that makes it very watchable for me. A very rare gift for television these days.
