>Now, the publisher has revealed the full title: Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. DC teased this announcement in June, when it confirmed that Dark Crisis is a direct sequel to the 1985 original.
>1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths resulted in the collapse of DC's Multiverse into a single timeline, with numerous characters dying, disappearing, or having their history rewritten as a result. Decades later, the Multiverse was restored in the stories 52 and Convergence, before being expanded into an all-encompassing Omniverse in the wake of the story Dark Nights: Death Metal.

>event so bad, selling so poorly, they change the name halfway through
Holy frick has this ever happened before? My word
It’s actually selling well apparently. You morons have nobody to blame but yourselves for all these events since apparently you keep buying them
I like this event, King's Batman, and the current Amazing Spider-Man run and use my hard earned dollars to purchase shitty paper copies.
It's me, Cinemaphile's enemy. AMA
>It’s actually selling well apparently
I don't believe that claim for a single fricking second. I can't imagine the kind of moron that would buy this shit.
"Selling well" for current American comic standards is still selling way worse than a token two bit action manga, much less the top scorers.
If comics switched to a black and white format and made it cheaper, would they sell? Cuz right now it's about $7 for 30 pages every month for one book and about $30 for a TPB with 4 to 5 issues while manga goes for $10 for 6 to 8 chapters.
>If comics switched to a black and white format and made it cheaper, would they sell?
No, they already lost the culture war a long time ago. Mangas are infinitely much easier to access and get into despite having their own brand of rejects from society gatekeeping.
Nothing short of a time traveler beating the shit out of the people who exploited the speculator boom on the 90s would fix it. Comics went from something you read into a collectible.
>If comics switched to a black and white format and made it cheaper, would they sell?
Doubt it, they'd also need to change the stories themselves to not be as samey and riskless. And probably come out weekly to keep people interested.
>It’s actually selling well apparently
How many popular mangas did outsell?
All of them
[citation needed]
It's pretty weird DC is trying to sell the return of infinite universes as a big gamechanger for this event, but the DCU hasn't been limited to 52 earths since Death Metal, right?
It also doesnt matter because people only care about the main earth continuity.
Everyone except the writers because they continue to hire lazy casuals.
The infinite multiverse was brought back with Convergence, then again with Doomsday Clock, then Death Metal.
At some point this well has to be dry
It's so funny how these all cover the same exact story beats. The obligatory JSA tease, the "look back" at classic DC panels, look ahead at the future. It's like annual solicits you pay for.
Snyder said some stuff on the last page but neither Metal replaced the Multiversial map Morrison made
The omniverse was around but no one really used it.
Convergence didn't bring back shit, everyone rightfully ignored it because it presumed to "undo" COIE, which makes zero sense. Doomsday Clock only introduced a couple new earths to accomodate post crisis and post flashpoint continuity somewhere in the multiverse.
>The omniverse was around but no one really used it.
What's the point of using it. No one really cares about the stories unless they're part of the main continuity because they don't matter.
I don't even give a crap because I barely understood what they meant by Omniverse anyway.
>Convergence didn't bring back shit,
Pre-Infinite Frontier New Earth Convergence Parallax was still flying around in space during DC Rebirth
I really wish that got resolved it really seemed like they were setting up alternate timeline Parallax Hal for something more
Death Metal had 53 Earths.
Didn't convergence brought it back?
Is there a universe where DC is good?
No.
>King isn't the worst EXCEPT when he made Batman skip out on a takeover of his own city to be at the beach with Catwoman and when he introduced a Justice League-level threat kid who Damian proceeded to solo and when he made Thomas Wayne ruin Bruce's life to try to get him to have sex
Frick off and stop trying to salvage City of Bane.
I miss Rebirth so much
DC Universe post-Doomsday Clock "almost" felt like right before Flashpoint. Then Infinite Frontier/Hyper Crisis, if editorial won't let writers dive head 1st into Everything Is Canon. Then what's the point of that endgame decision?
No it didnt. Wtf are you talking about?
This. I just want super sons back let gay Jon be a separate character from kid Jon
>DC Universe post-Doomsday Clock "almost" felt like right before Flashpoint.
Don’t lie shill.
Me too
Remember why all of this happened didio and everyone who insulated him and his infringing self indulgent personal agendas upon the decades old established Characters and mythologies of the shared universe’s collective ips go look at the cbr forums and other community outlets throughout that entire regime and you will see they morons actively thought that this horse shit would get in touch with the interests of normies and Hollywood
>CoIE
>written by mediocre writer and carried by great art
DCoIE
>written by mediocre writer with mediocre art
Yes, it's a downgrade but not that much of downgrade
Hard to call wolfman mediocre when every current writer DC has is ten billion times worse.
Not really, Wolfman is the pinnacle of shit and rightfully belongs alongside Bendis, Johns and Williamson.
No, he doesn’t. And the fact that king and Taylor didn’t come to you first, despite how god awful Bendis is, is telling.
Snyder, king, Taylor and Bendis are the four horsemen of DC’s apocalypse. They killed the company.
King isn’t the worst. I enjoyed the first half of his Batman run and then the wedding fakeout happened. Everything after that just seemed boring and then he butchered Thomas Wayne and killed Alfred.
Snyder I fee like his stories can be fun,I liked his New 52 run(not great, not bad). I think when DC gave him free reign to do whatever(Metal, Justice League) it was garbage.
Taylor I liked Injustice and DCeased. I haven’t read his Superman out of the sheer principle over the Jon situation.
Took four words to know you don’t know shit about comics and have no place saying wolfman is mediocre. You obviously started reading comics with the new 52 if you think Snyder’s shit isn’t pure ass juice too.
Wolfman is shit. Who cares if he groomed you with waifu homosexualry?
>projection because I was right
I’m not even particularly a fan of his but to say he’s mediocre and then defend king, snyder and Taylor we told compared to modern writers hes much better is just pathetic.
Have you even read any of his comics? Or do you just get your opinions via osmosis like most of you casuals?
He didn't respond to you so I assume you were right
I never said anything about Wolfman. I think those three have some okay~good stories but their recent stuff is ass
Wolfman did Tomb of Dracula, which shits all over everything these new hacks are doing.
>Written by an insecure Hal Jordan and Barry Allen fanboy in a desperate attempt to put them on the same level as the trinity
fixed
I mean both the Flash and GL have sold better than WW
>Damian is leading a team including Dr. Light, Power Girl and Red Canary
And Sideways
Cool
>And Sideways
I will now buy your event
Is that confirmed or just something you want personally.
Why change its name halfway through the series?
Sales are likely awful.
>Halfway
Only 2 issues out of 7 are out and this reveal was teased before the second one even came out.
The change comes on the cover of issue 4, halfway through the mini. And “teased” as a sequel doesn’t mean they teased changing the name you absolute moron.
Seriously are you a shill or just mentally ill?
COIE should have been the last story of it's kind. Or maybe it should never have happened, but it gave us Batman Year One, so...
>when it confirmed that Dark Crisis is a direct sequel to the 1985 original.
So frick Infinite Crisis I guess.
Don't give them ideas they're going to rehash Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis if you do.
>introduce Omniverse
>waited all the time since they do something with that
>they don't, instead Dark Crisis will destroy it or something.
It's more about how right after Death Metal, in Infinite Frontier, they immediately established that the Pre-Crisis multiverse hadn't been brought back and was still destroyed. This is addressing that.
Yeah, they could just have said it was restored, but it makes sense to make its big return in a story that apparently will actually use its characters, which is presumably why the Pre-Crisis multiverse is returning in issue 4, not at the end.
Only boomers care about CoIE, who is supposed to be excited by this?
It seems like this line up is one alternate version for each Justice League member who disappeared?
These are the leaguers that died, each in their "happiness world" version.
How many times have they 'brought back the multiverse' over the last, what, 25 years? When was Hypertime brought out, '97? And over the last 15 years, it feels like we're bringing it back, for realsies this time, evert 2-3 years. At this point, who even cares anymore?
Yawn.
INFINITE CRISIS ON INFINITE CRISES: THE NEVER ENDING CRISES ON INFINITE MULTIVERSES.
Are there now just yearly Crisis? Thats the only kind of event left they know how to do?
Yeah, basically since...I wanna say 2016. Whatever they decided it was later, Darkseid War was shilled as a Crisis at the time.
They have the rep for that but honestly it's not as common. Metal 1 and 2 did very little other than shill crap books.
Darkseid War was not advertised as being Crisis level despite featuring the Anti-Monitor, or should I say Mobius. That one was not Mobin time
Remember when Final Crisis was described as the end of the *Crisis branding? That it was the story to wrap up every story from CoIE to ID Crisis, Infinite Crisis and whatever else I'm missing? I don't doubt that was Morrison's intention, but DC...
I mean final crisis was shit and had nothing to do with a real crisis besides nazi supergirl and the narration telling us Darkseid was somehow dragging down. The multiverse.
Final Crisis is the only good crisis, try not to be a brainlet.
>lol the heroes lost, lets totally skip it
>superman is off doing who the frick cares lets focus on some asiatics who no one cares about
no
>Final Crisis
>Wasn't the final crisis
They couldn't help themselves could they?
Snyder wanted to use the Dark Crisis name for Death Metal, but it got denied, so it was probably Didio who was keeping that decision valid.
you got that wrong. didio wanted snyder to call it dark crisis but snyder said no because it wasnt changing continuity like a crisis
No anon had it right, writers don’t overrule publishers. Didio and Lee obviously wanted it to be a sequel to metal because it, inexplicably, sold well.
There is literally an interview where snyder said the higher ups wanted it called dark crisis and he said no he didn't think it was big enough for a crisis
Source?
Regarding the issue of the state of the multiverse; it was explicitly stated that while Death Metal expanded the multiverse beyond just 52 worlds, it still wasn't infinite universes ala the original DC Multiverse. And part of the motivation for Pariah is the fact that his Earth wasn't one of the worlds that was created due to Death Metal expanding the number of alternate realities and him being pissed the frick off that he got screwed over since he can't frick off and go back home to his family at long last.
Why the name change middle event?
Desperation. To get people to talk about the event.
DC continues to be absolute shit. What else is new?
Jesus Christ man they are really this desperate huh
Did we have a thread for DC's solicits yet?
they're not out yet (except the new Dark Crisis tie-ins)
Just stop trying already. You can rebrand and rename your substance devoid, meaningless, rehash "comic" as many times as you want, and it will still suck, and your company is still going to be on life support until it's inevitable death.
Stop trying. Restructure. Hire better talent, come up with a better way to distribute the product, or better yet, change the format of the product to more easily overtake the competition (manga). Find out where their strengths lie, where yours could be, and leverage that shit. Make an effort to purify the american comic industry's bloodline, as it's become more incestuous than the fricking Habsbourgs, and that led to shit like this. Get new people and let more of them prove themselves more easily. Diversify. Look at italian comics and how many genres you could find there. Bring existing nerdy fictional universes like Star Wars, Warhammer, Battletech, D&D, etc., into comics and get fans that way. Experiment with different genres.
There's so much common sense shit that could be done, yet you refuse, convincing me of your deliberate self sabotage. Frick you DC. You don't deserve success at this point.
Will they also retcon Superman into not being a homosexual anymore?
that cover is really good with lanter nand flash symbol
