What if one of the darkest hours in Batman's crime-fighting career never happened? Thirty-five years ago, fans voted on Jason Todd's fate after his brutal encounter with The Joker, which set Jason on the path to becoming the gun-toting vigilante Red Hood. But suppose fans had voted differently…
DC Comics transports you back in time with this special "faux-simile" edition of Batman #428 in which Robin lives! Featuring pages reconstructed from artist Jim Aparo's alternate art boards –which have been plucked from the DC vault and fully restored and remastered –this reedited version of "A Death in the Family, Book Three" turns the Dark Knight's greatest tragedy into a moment of triumph. Adding to the immersive authenticity of this alternate-history comic book, this version includes all the ads from the original 1988 edition plus a rewritten letters column.

THE WIZARD, BIZARRO!
Jason Aaron writes Superman for the very first time, teaming up with all-star artist John Timms to present a startling new vision of the Man of Steel's strangest foe. When Superman's doppelgänger discovers a dark secret about himself, it unleashes the most dangerous version of Bizarro the world has ever seen.
so the anthology format of Action comics only lasted a year, must have been a massive flop for DC
Anthologies never fricking sell in the US.
They are generally overprice for the content along with the fact that writers in US comics can't format a story to fit into 5 page format to save their lives, it is one of the things UK writers are good at simply due to the continued existence of 2000AD
Will it be worse than Bendis’s runs?
He's on it for what?
3 issues?
How much damage can he cause?
I am afraid to even guess.
>Superman’s mother was THE PHOENIX-I mean, this OC fire bird lady I made
Don’t underestimate Aaron
He's writing a Bizarro story dude.
Bendis is a pretty hard act to follow in terms of wrecking a franchise (although Tom Taylor also cemented at least one of his biggest mistakes). However, Jason Aaron do his best, I'm sure.

Just struck me that "Trinity" is a really shitty name because you can't tell if they're talking about her or the WW-Supes-Bats trio.

I liked Seeley, why did he have to go? Everything has been shit since he stopped writing Dick.
I hate this not because of the meme, but because it's fricking ugly.
Also older Jon I guess, it sucks how they want to keep using Super Sons but refuse to make Jon how he used to be.
TT really is doubling down on this shit.
Imagine being DC, bringing back Dick after the whole Ric arc and the Titans, only to have Tom Taylor write them into the ground.
At this point I'm convinced DC is allergic to success.

Trapped in a dream by his own sleep gas, Wesley Dodds comes face-to-face with his worst nightmare. Can he escape his own dark dream, and will it be in time to stop the Fog's next move?!
Oh shit, I don't pay attention to anything but collections of old material. Is this actually an ongoing (at least until it's cancelled before double digit issues?)
I can't believe how long it took them to follow through on the JSA shit.
It's only 6 issues.
Why don't they have the fricking #/# in the solicits anymore
I've never read a comic by Venditti, so I don't even know if that's a disappointment or not, I guess.
I liked his Superman: Man of Tomorrow. The first issue came out this week I think and Cinemaphile seemed happy with it. Happy with the art at least.
The first issue was storytimed last week, so you can check it out in the archive if you are interested.

Alan Scott's learned the Red Lantern's dark secret! But even if the Green Lantern knows the truth, can he find the will to stop his enemy's monstrous plans?
Why does DC put out comics that no one wants?
To save face.
Because Alan Scott is a homosexual now.
thats why they are also putting out 2 other JSA titles after years of fans annoying them about where the JSA is?
Yes. It's some monkey's paw shit.
The Sandman one is good. Better than the one issue of current JSA I read.
They finally cleared shit for Geoff Johns to bring back JSA (which under Johns was one of DC's top selling books of the 00s) and Johns sadly has gone all Ellis/Whedon, declaring he will never again take a fill-in artist on any of his books while at the same time, demanding that he only work with super slow artists.
End result is that the JSA revival dying a quick death due to delays combined with the added frick you bonus of the first six issues being a stealth Golden Age Huntress revival arc and the bullshit about Geoff's diversity patrol of "forgotten" teen sidekicks who were created for Stargirl's TV show that got cancelled and are now being shoehorned into JSA. Along with not following up on ANY of the major subplots and unresolved storylines from the original JSA run too outside a petty bit of "frick you Steve Gerber" where Geoff wrote off the pre-Flashpoint Dr Fate Gerber created" by saying that he lied about being related to the original Dr Fate and went into hiding after Detective ape outed him as a fraud".
The Sandman/Flash/Green Lantern minis are nothing but filler products to try and salvage the franchise at this point, along with hammering home Jim "How fricking dare the chuds reject the New 52!" Lee has literally declared, using Geoff as his scapegoat hatchetman, that the traditional DC lore and canon of pre-Crisis/post-Crisis/post-Zero Hour/post-Infinite Crisis lore was all fricking fake and lies due to the diversity patrol and Golden Age Red Lantern being excised from continuity before the events of Crisis and that all existing canon where Alan Scott was straight was tampered "not the real continuity" because by removing Red Lantern from Earth 2 continuity, it creates a butterfly effect leading to Alan Scott never being gay like Jim Lee intends him to be going forward, due to Lee fixating on it as how he can best make fans suffer for rejecting New 52 and his bullshit crusade to make Wonder Woman Superman's wife.
You can blame DiDio for this shit
The Spiteful fat frick is the same sack of shit as Quesada his room buddy.
>You can blame DiDio for this shit
You could but I think you should blame James Tynion IV more.
Ley it go already.... he's gone.... seek help.
Dan, as long as every homosexual that contributed to Identity Crisis and your edgelord shitshow that was cry for justice who you and Quesada pinned together alongside OMD during the same period to kill all of the DC families, i really hope that you choke on a dorito and burn in hell afterwards.
Now you went full schizo... get help, take meds. This is not a joke, you're mentally ill.
>the diversity patrol
What the frick is the Diversity Patrol?
Kill Sheridan.
The recent Sheridan vs CG crap is hard for me because I want BOTH of them to lose
They're both obnoxious gays and I don't want either of them to feel any satisfaction
I'd recommend giving up comics then and simply reading books (or perhaps washing your hands of superhero stuff). Because one side controls the comics industry with the same iron grasp as Attila the Hun, and the other isn't going away.
I read mostly creator-owned these days actually
Probably the best thing to do.
It has its ups and downs
Far from perfect (but hey at least I can complain about shit properly rather than be a know-it-all know-nothing)
I was holding out on hoping that Invincible can usher a golden age of comics and cartoons symbiosis but after Chew's cartoon series got scrapped I've given up on hope
He's still gay, right?
Yep
Will it bomb next week?
>Will it bomb next week?
Bigly.
a shame we'll never know for sure considering DC left Diamond
The gays on Twitter are trying to hype it up, so I dunno.
twitter isn't a paying audience
Say what you want about Millar but he was right
Even Tynion has stressed that twitter doesn't mean shit
His tweet has barely a thousand likes
If social media mattered IDW Sonic would be outselling everything and that upcoming Karl Jacobs comic would make gangbusters

Romance is rarely a simple affair—love is almost always followed by some sort of conflict. Whether you're Plastic Man twisting yourself into knots trying to please someone, or the Flash traveling back in time to make a catastrophic 50 first dates perfect, or even a lonely robot who just can't seem to find love unless it's mail from a computer screen, like Red Tornado, love actually is…a pain in the 27 dresses. So in the grand tradition of these dating conundrums a la rom-coms of the '90s and '00s, we are proud to present eight new stories about love and trying to find it in this zany world.

At last, as you demanded: The celebrated creative team of Si Spurrier and Aaron Campbell have returned to Hellblazer! John Constantine has cheated death once again—but his heart's not beating, his body is decaying, and he, his friend Nat, and his son Noah are on the run in America, wanted for murder. Naturally, it's all John's fault—it always is.
But as it turns out, Dream himself needs John's help. Something terrible has taken root in America, and it's using the sand from Dream's pouch to impose its will. If John can put a stop to it, he might be able to parlay that favor into a chance to save all their lives—but he's going to need help from someone he hasn't spoken to in years. Someone he wasn't always…all that kind to. Someone…or some…Thing?
Spurrier and Campbell's first run on Hellblazer was the best-reviewed comic of 2020, reintroducing the character to a new generation, and their second act, told in extra-length 28-page issues, is ambitious and unmissable!

A lot of January books get solicited with the December titles for some reason.

>a rewritten letters column
So they're just making up letters? lol
So... just like they did it back in the day?
it's not going to be a new fake letter column; it's going to be a new fake editorial piece that would be written to explain why they did the poll in the first place and how happy they are that fans voted to keep jason alive.
iirc the original #428 had an editorial instead of a letter column explaining the poll and why they did it and basically explain how they never thought fans would kill jason and how they were honor bound to go through with his death even though editorial disagreed with it.
Didn't think like it should warrant a thread so I'll say this here
Remember how Johns said he got a mystery artist on board for Ghost Machine?
Previews might have accidentally spoiled that
It's Ivan Reis so yeah, DC might be losing him as well
Much like Johns and DC, Reis peaked with Green Lantern.

>Fricking Todd McFarlane pays better than DC
Thanks for shilling, Todd. Picked up.
The Spawn saturation for next year annoys me but I appreciate if the books give good work for creators and potentially highlight newer talent
I stopped reading Spawn somewhere in the 20s. I'll gladly take a supernatural western, and double if it's written by Palmiotti. I also see a series with Sharp on it. I haven't looked into Middle Ages, but I definitely will now.
>I appreciate if the books give good work for creators and potentially highlight newer talent
Awesome move. I haven't seen numbers, but I'm sure Spawn spin-offs still pull considerable numbers, and it's not as sacred a cow as Batman so they're more liberal with handing them out to people (though it's not like they've been exactly discerning with Batman at this point, either).
Todd's got that toy money. DC Comics doesn't get shit from non-comic merch and sales.
