        >Joshua Williamson explains exits from Batman and Robin and Green Arrow

        >"I've been feeling some burn out for a bit now. I've been burning the candle at both ends for a few years and it was very clear that I needed to take some time off and reduce my schedule drastically," Joshua Williamson wrote. "I've been writing a LOT of books the last few years, and as much as I loved every minute of it, I need to recharge and reset. Spend more time with my young family and adjust my priorities. I've talked about this a bit in past newsletters and then in the videos with Sal on YouTube. That I often times feel like I've been running a marathon, and I've learned how to be a better runner while on the move, but I've never taken the time to finish the marathon, rest, stretch, and run smarter. I'm often envious of directors or writers who finish a project and then take some time to just THINK about the next one. This is often difficult in comics as we're a weekly business. But I knew I needed it."

        >Joshua Williamson announced his departure from writing Batman and Robin and Green Arrow on his Substack newsletter. Batman and Robin #13 is his final issue of the series, while Green Arrow #17 and the Green Arrow Annual scheduled for October are his last for that series as well. Williamson was quick to point out that the decision to step away from both titles were his choice, and he explained his reasoning behind the choices he made. In some positive news, Batman and Robin and Green Arrow will continue with new creative teams, and Williamson is excited about the choices DC made with the eteams.

        That's a shame, but I understand
I'm not sure who would be able to take over the title after him

I think Jeremy Adams could do a good job. He likes Damian and wrote the Super Sons movie.

When asked about non-canon ships that he liked, he said that he liked Jason and Cass together
This immediately riled up both the comictwitter and the annoying part of batfandom, which he responded with a follow up tweet saying what about Damian and Cass and then hosted a twitter poll between the two pairs to see which people liked more

I don't even think it was necessary for them to do much more than let Williamson plot out whatever he might have done with B&R in, frankly, a loose fashion and let the new team see what they can do in say 5-6 issues. If sales maintain, keep the title. If not, cancel it.

Green Arrow on the other hand, is a different thing, but if it had to end after say 24 issues, they should consider doing a team up book with Oliver - perhaps after a brief break.

Tec won't matter unless it's a huge sale drop - which it likely won't be.

Catwoman has been ongoing since the title changed after Rebirth. It can also safely be replaced for something else. A good Zatanna 12 issue maxi-series, based in the magic corners of the DCU, instead of just focused on her, would be a good replacement. If it sells well, it can start a new on-going.

Sadly, Psychotic Murder Clown b***h will probably continue no matter what.

What's exactly super important about these books that they will make or break DC? I don't even think Batman & Robin book should exist because Bruce and Damian are legit boring together. Catwoman isn't essential to exit and neither HQ really. Tec always had its up and down moments. Nightwing is boring and almost all his runs are lib services about how "great" he is, but they fail everytime to show us what's exactly super special about him compared to thousands other heroes.

The timing of B&R release was weird. It fit nowhere in continuity and it's not like it added anything to Damian or Bruce. It seems to exist just to give Damian something to do.

Now that I think about, didn't the event of GW last for few days and Batman quickly abandoned Damian anyway before he went solo? Where does it even fit in?

          That's every DC comic now.
It's kind of funny how you only realize the value of things when you lose them. Continuity for example. I was one of the homosexuals complaining that it was constricting stories, but now that it doesn't exist, all stories seem equally meaningless.

the same could be applied to the current run of tec, none of the Batman ongoing have any form of continuity between them.

Well, it can be said that the events of Tec happened before Chip's run, but BR was stated to happen during the GW which makes zero sense.

It was created because of James Gunn.

The original plan was for Damian to give up the Robin mantle and make Damian a OC codename after Mark Waid’s event. This is because DC Comics was pushing Tim Drake as the main Robin so they can push the “Gay Robin” as the core Robin for progressive points (they were still coming off Future State).

Then James Gunn announced Damian Wayne as the Robin in The Brave and the Bold movie which changed their plans.

DC then decided they wanted to keep Damian as Robin as Synergy so they rushed out as quickly as possible. And since Williamson had already written a Damian run, they decided to ask him again as a favor to quickly put a book out there.

              Why samegay?

Also the obvious Robin rankings are
              Dick
              Damian
              Jason
              Tim

It’s not even really a debate, it’s been this way since way wayyyy before Tim was made gay and since jason was brought back from the dead. Both of them are fricking awful for the last 20 years.

                >Damian is legitimately one of the worst things to happen to Batman

This. I have high respect for Grant Morrison in most other contexts, but he REALLY fricked up Bat comics by inventing a Robin that outranks all other Robins and ruins their niches. Damian should not exist, and if he exists he should not be a part of the Bat family but part of Al Ghul family.

Batman and B&R are so completely disconnected they might as well take place in alternate universes.

That it doesn't fit anywhere in continuity can be blamed on the Batoffice editorial since they can't manage continuity between the titles for shit (seriously, why have an arc in the main Batman title that heavily features Damian without having the Batman and ROBIN title involved?)
Only time the events of the book has been referenced anywhere was in the Beast World Star City tie-in which was also written by Williamson

        Anonymous

Well, releasing the book during an event where the purpose of it is having Batman going solo wasn't exactly a great idea, but it seems they were forced to release it because of muh synergy. I'm not even surprised that Williamson has left and completely expected it because he is kind of didn't seem passionate about it.

I hope you’re ready to get nothing but bad news. Jason Aaron’s homosexual ass will be on one of these, minimum. The rest won’t be any better.
