So you’re saying an artist completely ousted from his industry simply because his initial politics didn’t align with Ewing is forced to find paid work elsewhere? Shocking anon

Son, something like Ozempic makes "Big Pharma" BIG, something like hormones is like implying that aspirin made Bristol Myers into a huge profitable conglomerate.

If you're going to stupidly parrot Orange Jesus talking points, at least try to pick and choose some that aren't going to get you IMMEDIATELY laughed at for being too stupid to take up air and space.

Bennett did it too, but Syaf was much worse about it because he had placed multiple messages through out the comic

He had lettered “Jewery” on a diamond shop window and put a cross of David below it.

The worst part of it all was when Bennett tried to play it off as a mistake by having both words spelled wrong and blamed the mistake on that the words were mirrored, when he had an issue or two prior no difficulty in mirroring a custom logo he created himself that contained letters

And at least he's not drawn like he's essentially feminized like this

Not a fan of the art but DC really missed their chance on making TimKon reality. It would've killed two birds with one stone for them. Getting brownie points from their queer audience and giving the shippers what they want.

          >When has DC ever made intelligent decisions?
You got me there. Still there is so much potential DC is wasting when they are trying desperately to appeal this demographic through these events. This isn't just about TimKon either, there are several characters that don't get the spotlight or are sidelined in favor of someone else.

They do make attempts to appeal to "this demographic" - that's the point of all those YA books they keep churning out. Some hit and some don't; the problem is that the things that do hit (like the Beast Boy and Ravan book) are a different kind of diverse.

DC is all about wasted potential. They constantly push aside established characters that people actually like for the new flavor of the month that will inevitably be forgotten. I can't comprehend the reasoning behind this...its it sheer stupidity or maliciousness?

I guess they wanted Tim paired up with the safest option as possible so they could dump Bernard without any backlash if the execs decided they didn't want Tim with a dude anymore. It's a reason they turned Bernard into a milquetoast character now and thought pairing Tim up with an original character was too much work cause then they'd have to build him up

But it backfired tremendously. Straight men don't really want to read about a gay character and straight women and gay men don't want Tim to be with anyone other than Conner (or Jason).

I still have no clue what Megan Fitzmartin was thinking behind her decision to pair Tim with Bernard of all characters. Even the Bernard we've seen as of late is nothing like his original iteration. I know the obvious is him not being into Tim's step mother but going beyond that. He brimmed with more personality than his current incarnation. Giving off that "too cool for school" vibe to impress those around him to make up for his faults.

It's very likely because Tim hasn't had a male, non superhero friend since 2004. Nearly 20 years by then. DC let his character be defined by the Titans for decades and forgot he had a personal life in Gotham. As that generation of teen heroes got replaced, they have less group appearances and can't work as each other's supporting cast anymore.
So she must've just looked up who Tim knew, and if not Ives it's Bernard as a male friend.

    >As an additional DC Pride teaser, this year’s anthology features a special preview of DC’s upcoming YA OGN The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley by New York Times bestselling author of Wicked Lovely Melissa Marr, teamed up with celebrated artist Jenn St-Onge.

    >When Harleen signs up to participate in a clinical research trial with her girlfriend, Pamela, her only goals are extra cash and a chance to control her anxiety. But what she gets instead are increasingly larger gaps in her memory and stolen mementos from some guy named Jack. Soon Harleen discovers she’s sharing her life with Harley—a take-no-prisoners, who-cares-about-attendance, maybe-we-oughta-save-the-bunnies kind of girl. She is the opposite of Harleen in every way. And although she’s throwing Harleen’s life completely off track, maybe she ain’t so bad either…

    >In the 1990s, writer Rachel Pollack did the impossible: she raised the bar for surprise and strangeness in her beloved run following Grant Morrison’s career-making Doom Patrol! To celebrate her life and works, DC will publish a spotlight issue, DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack, hitting shelves on June 6. It's interesting because Pollack's run was derided for the longest time. I still remember winning a lot of their issues on eBay, reading about it online, and then never paying for it because I didn't want to waste my time owning terrible comics.

It's honestly baffling to see Pollack being pushed now after two decades of being quarter bin material.

Cause of who Pollack is rather than Pollack's material. That, and everyone memes far harder about Codpiece than Coagula, but considering they debuted in the same issue, DC's just using that to pretend their marketing scheme has legs to stand on

You know it's not being critically re-evaluated as a hidden gem. People were willing to accept Morrison's wackiness at the time, so it's not like you can say people weren't ready for themes or plots that were "out there"; Pollack was just a poor imitation.

    >Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story is the untold origin story of Dreamer, the first trans Super Hero ever to appear on TV! DC’s newest YA graphic novel publishes on April 2, written by Nicole Maines and drawn by Rye Hickman with color by Bex Glendining and lettering by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.

    >Nia’s spent her whole life taking a back seat to her older sister, Maeve, who was expected to inherit their mother’s Seer powers: the ability to see the future through dreams, passed down to one woman in each generation. But when Nia, a trans girl, starts having visions of the future, she must suppress her powers to protect her relationship with her sister.

    >Soon Nia’s dreams become impossible to ignore, and she has no choice but to distance herself as she navigates her new reality. Taking off for Metropolis, Nia is quickly swept up in the bustling city and, guided by her dreams, connects with a group of queer girls who feel more like sisters than her own. As Nia starts to discover her powers may be more than just a burden, she’s given a choice: accept her new responsibility as a Seer or give it all up for a chance at normalcy.

    >From Nicole Maines, the actress, activist, and writer who originated the fan-favorite role of Dreamer on the groundbreaking Supergirl TV show, and with art by Rye Hickman, who captures Nia’s depth and humor, comes this joyful and gut-wrenching graphic novel featuring characters from Galaxy: The Prettiest Star in DC’s first YA crossover!

Oh so you want literally every character who doesn’t have their own long running title to never get any comics? I guess that means all B-list and below characters should be erased then. Including all your niche fan favourites.

Where the frick did I say any of that?

No they tried pushing the character multiple times, which is generally what you should do to push new characters, but after the fifth or sixth attempt of constantly falling flat it’s pretty clear there is just no real interest in the character.

Like look at this objectively, Dreamer is a spin-off character from a middling tv series that ended 3 years ago, like maybe if they pushed the character during the shows run there might have been some traction but they waited until the show ended when the already medium sized fan base was drying up.

They also got the original actor to write the stories but again unless the show was still going or the actor is popular and famous it’s not going to bring anybody in.

The character is also related to LoSH but genuinely no one from that community gives a shit about Dreamer they would much rather be reading about Dreamgirl, the character Dreamer is quasi adapted from, in a new LoSH book than a book featuring a “Knock-off”.

The books they appear in or are part of a team don’t sell well either. Superman: Son of Kal-El had terrible sales, not because of her mind you that book just straight sucked, but Taylor brought Dreamer into the book and promoted it to try and boost sales and it didn’t do anything and The current Suicide Squad book they are in literally went from an ongoing to cancelled because the book sold terribly.

            Anonymous

Clearly we need to stop making Suicide Squad books because they repeatedly have shown to not sell well. Glad we established that.

Unironically yeah the Suicide squad Books are being churned out on a near constant basis so much so that it’s just diluting the brand because each run just gets worse and worse.

That being said my point still stands about Dreamer

                Anonymous

Great. Now let’s stop just making comics because they don’t really sell anymore.

                Anonymous

Some comics sell some don’t it’s the way of the world. If you keep putting bad writers and artists on books and they don’t sell sometimes it’s good to take a break for a bit and wait for a good team to come around and start fresh.

Trying out new comics and characters is good and helps diversify the brand but if a character doesn’t sell or isn’t popular at a certain point you have to cut your losses.

And I know you aren’t going to actually read anything I say and just latch onto one thing and ignore everything else to continue your trollish Pearl clutching

Son, something like Ozempic makes "Big Pharma" BIG, something like hormones is like implying that aspirin made Bristol Myers into a huge profitable conglomerate.

Inclusivity makes one country superior to another. The shopping mall we've replaced human society with doesn't care who puts their peepees into poopoos, vajayjays or whatever. What matters is not excluding a chunk of the workforce on that basis. If you ban women from reading and driving, kill homosexuals and weird intersex types, you get to feel based and redpilled for about three generations, then find out you've cut away a massive chunk of productivity and innovation, get out competed and become a client state.

All that 'fall of civilization' shit is 19th century gibberish mumbled by fascist shitbirds at the fringe. Being without values makes the whole marketplace run just fine, the 1% don't give a shit and love the sound of nazis shooting up gay bars, schools or malls as if it changes anything.

Yeah anon, you’re a “back bone” of US foreign policy now as stated by the Secretary of State and multiple other military leaders, and teachers convincing children that they’re trans and facing pushback from parents is being used as justification for the state to take those children away from their families. When less than 1% of the population can deter the other 99% anon it’s a problem in general. LGBT is on the side of the oligarchs because it’s antithetical to family as a concept. You’re assumption that every HAS to agree with you is the fallacy, you’re to small to add ANYTHING to the working class as a united force but you’re a danger enough to distract us and keep us in line. Its fascinating really we’re not in the 90s anymore where you can point to will and grace and say “look we’re just trying to be happy” there are now children’s drag shows and doctors performing mastectomy’s on teenage girls they convinced that the uncertainty of adolescents they felt meant they’re sick and needed immediate, expensive, and life altering cosmetic surgery

This isn’t fiction, like your assumptions at being a woman. This is real life with real life consequences

Sorry anon, didn't mean to make you feel like that. Here's fanart of Midnighter and Dick embracing each other as consolation.

That image only works if you make it part of a series, Dick kinda slightly vaguely looks like he might be dick because I believe I recognize the artist, but except for the crappy hair from Orlando's runs, Lucas is just some rando.

Like every modern Anthology book the big two shit out, almost every story is awful. I've been reading the gay collections for three years and so far the only stories I've actually liked were Batwoman stories that had almost nothing to do with the fact that she's a lesbian and a Ghostmaker story because it was hot. If they're gonna put these out at all they should focus more on making them sexy. Nobody but trannies gets off on this "validation" crap and the people writing these are too fricked in the head to understand a compelling romance, so unrefined sex and violence is the only thing you can get out of these.
Regardless, I'd never buy them because I'd just find it embarrassing. Unless the cover was like Midnighter and Apollo half-naked and drawn well, I'd be less embarrassed by that than the usual terribly drawn parade of broccoli-haired twinks and dykes

It's not supposed to sell well, it's supposed to generate talking points and good press to potentially sucker more people into buying stories about queer capes that Warner Bros can turn into mascot characters and merchandise and profit off because they're so assured that their core audience is too hooked to ever stop spending their money on them now they can dig into the wallets of those pathetic pasty white anglo-saxon dweebs AND the gay bipocs of the world

In other words, they exist for the latter, except that the latter crowd sure as frick doesn't even buy those anthologies or the books of the characters they're focused on anyways

Just fill all the pages with nothing but faux-gay porno and tumblr talk and spandexed characters dry-humping each other, with one single panel of Batwoman punching guys that are totally not JK Rowling or Andrew Tate at the end just to round it off. It'd probably actually sell an issue or two compared to these gimmicks.

I mean if it wasn’t for Natasha stealing Traci I wouldn’t even have known Natasha existed, so the relationship has that going for it. Mind you I think the relationship is bland and detracts from Traci’s somewhat character defining appearance in Blue Beetle. Though thinking about it Blue Beetle did a bunch of stuff that kind of contradicted what was previously established about Traci. Such as the random establishment of a connection to Sue so her fight with Eclipso was more poignant, despite the fact her having a connection to Sue makes no sense since her Father Terry had no real connection to the Dibnys. Traci as a whole is a weird character that is odd and illogical when considering all her surrounding details.

NTA but I'm tired of doing leg work and research for people like you. If the first wave of books didn't sell, they wouldn't have done the second, third, fourth, fifth, yadda yadda waves.

Just like Netflix does keep a critically acclaimed show with an oscar winner, that also is popular on twitter, like Brother Sun on the air if NO ONE IS watching it.

      Likewise, just because

New readers in their teens and twenties are still being driven in by the classics like Watchmen, Killing Joke, TDKR, Kingdom Come, etc. Absolutely NO ONE is getting their foot in their door by reading about Dreamer or Starfire's obese daughter.
