I've been watching this guy since I was a kid and remember enjoying a good chunk of his work. He has a much longer break schedule than DB ever had, but that's mainly due to his lower amount of resources and just doing the vs thing as a fun hobby instead of as a job, which ultimately adds to the quality of each episode. A lot of his earlier matches and ideas were kinda out there and more like something you'd maybe see on CFC, but his more recent work makes a lot more sense, is a lot more fluid, and much better.

Very old indie vs show that I remember watching as a kid. I absolutely ADORED these guys when they were still doing their thing because of how much effort they put into each and every episode despite the extremely limited budget that they had. I specifically remember watching each of their episodes on multiple viewings when I was younger and I loved their show more and more as it progressed and new episodes came out. They quietly ended sometime around 2016 or 2017. I can't exactly remember which year. And it could've been because of some bts drama, but I'll never really know. All I do know is that I'll remember the very wholesome feeling that their show gave off because it was what Death Battle initially was, but if they never got bought out by corporate scumbags. It was a bunch of friends coming together and doing what they loved.

Season six had some of my favorite episodes to date.
Mega Man Battle Royale, Sasuke vs Hiei, Ganon vs Dracula, and Maito Gai vs All Might.
I do wish that Ghost Rider fought Spawn instead and that Mob fought Saiki K. instead.
But aside from that, I remember enjoying most of those episodes.
I liked Ryu vs Jin, Roshi vs Jiraiya, Leon vs Frank, and Jack vs Afro from Season 5 too.
Everyone sleeps on dragonzord vs Mechagodzilla but I’ve always liked that one
I actually prefer Tigerzord vs Gundam Epyon a little more because of the more upbeat vibe of that whole episodes, the jokes were a lot better in that era imo, and I liked that the fight there added a bit more of a story to why they were fighting.

Jokes aside, their research got more autistic and wanky in the later seasons. Beerus vs Galaxia opened the floodgates for universe size wank. The staff members have also had a habit of being absolute pricks to fans. They also lived in fear of fricking Otto, a guy with zero power who didn’t even have it out for them. They also massively overspent, apparently costing 2.5 grand a DAY to produce.
The fact that they saw RT burning to the ground and didn’t come up with some sort of contingency kinda hints at arrogance and ego.
Oh they were frickin egotistical alright. They really believed that the sinking ship that was RT would be able to last forever because they live in their own little liberal wonderland.

So can we all agree that GvSIII was the real finale, and that Galactus vs Unicron was just a bonus episode? Not ONLY is Kalkelrot the more hype MU, not ONLY was the animation better, not ONLY was the song better, not ONLY did the MU have far more legacy to Death Battle as a whole, but Wiz's whole existential crisis at the end about the flaws of power scaling, only for Boomstick to assure him that "it's all just about having fun, don't stress over it", is just a good note to end the whole series on? Especially with normies as a whole starting to turn against power scaling with video essays hating on it, and very few of its fans willing to defend their favorite hobby due to their lack of spine, I doubt this series could've lasted much longer, so at least they ended on a high note.
The final cast's script got leaked early, had a look and it will be an hour long, and it'll be full of outrageous shit. Deadpool pokes his head in and says "CHIMICHANGAS!", because "LOL REMEMBER WHEN THAT JOKE WAS RELEVANT? XD". Also, he's getting raped by Hal Jordan right outside the house.
The next 40 minutes are just the writers giving up: videos of them shitting on each other, having a huge orgy while covered in shit, footage of people getting shot in the head, footage of babies being skinned alive and fricked, etc. You name it, they have it all. The final 10 minutes are just Ben Signer high as balls on every drug imaginable, screaming into the camera about how much he hates his life before pulling out a shotgun. Then it ends, with no credits, context or anything.
It'll end up being so viewed and talked about, that it renews Death Battle for another 10 seasons

Phryyia and Pantalla take the roles of the Dark lands in the Warfang's eyes and face identical aggression/priority. Phyrrian/Pantalan dragons are unified in the defense of their continents though they don't get to invalidate the conflict at large using Animus spells. Basically the main draw of the Death Battle IP for any potential buyers or its current owners is that the branding has an existing audience to some degree. Still though, any corporate entity would normally consider DB a legal nightmare waiting to happen unless it had its focus narrowed down to just its other owned properties.
Speaking of, how has DB never been sued? What’s the legality of it that they’re able to use everyone else’s characters?
They never really tried to fight a copyright claim in court, so most companies just treat them as they do any other crossover fan animations.

If you asked any of them about it, they'd say that death battle was "transformative," which really wouldn't hold up in court. Any IP holder would just have to say "Your honor, they made X amount of money from advertising on youtube, and this was clearly due to their use of my client's likeness/indica/characters, not "Wiz" and "Boomstick." We're asking for our fair share of the bag." And the judge would rule that the IP holders are indeed owed their fair share of the bag.
They don't really have a legal leg to stand on. Neither did Doug Walker. That's why when Beerus vs Galaxia got C&Ded they just had to eat shit like how Doug had to eat shit when Tommy Wausau C&Ded him.
So what allowed Doug Walker and Death Battle to go on? The practicalities of actually going after them.
1. Instant fan backlash against the IP holder. Even people that don't give a shit will cheer for the small guys over the megacorp in a legal battle.
2. It's impossible to fully delete and/or monetize an episode once its up. It'll just be circulated in different ways.
3. A lot of trouble for very little gain. You can only get the bag for the episodes that have your character, and given that it's likely their accountants were Dino Anchovy and Luigi Mafiosi, there likely wouldn't be --any-- money to get out of them.
4. Part of holding onto an IP involves actively defending an IP. If someone violates your IP in a flagrant way, and you don't shit about it, you create a legal precedent that can frick you over down the road. That means if someone sued Death Battle and legally proved they violated IP, everyone else is now obligated to sue Death Battle lest they set a precedent for letting violations against their IP slide. That means all the other IP holders now FRICKING HATE the company that started the legal ball rolling because now they're forced to sue some literally who chucklefricks.
Yes. The copyright was owned by RT. Which is dead. RT was a subsidiary of Warner, which is the bigger corpo that ended RT because it was a financial disaster, and thus by doing that, prematurely ending Death Battle (which was made up of clueless morons who didn't even bother to make a contingency plan in the highly likely event RT sunk under its own incompetence).
Given that DB was sinking in relevance and popularity anyways, and that likely no one outside some niche groups in America, even knows what the frick Death Battle is, it is unlikely that there will be any buyer meetings to sell the rights. And even under the near impossible chance that there are, most of the main DB crew no longer have access to their former RT/WBD accounts, meaning they won't have the money to buy the entire property and channel.
Not that it matters since Ben has made it very clearly since then that he doesn't care about vs or the community he himself abused and made fun of for years.
