But I think the real reason we're getting MM vs SS over SS vs GL is because Hal stands good odds of killing Galactus, let alone his herald, and this was likely meant to be the "balancer" after the giga upset that was Raven vs Marvel's entire life force.
I think they're going with the lazy respect thread speed reader result: Surfer's mental feats mean he can withstand brain frickery long enough to turn all of J'onn's atoms into oreoes. That's it.
