In all fairness that battle was always gonna be tainted. Putting the dogshit writing aside, the crew were vocally huge Avatar fans, and at that point the only Avatar episode they'd done was Gaara vs Toph. They also gave Aang dubious speed feats for aimdodging slow ass lightning but didn't scale Ed to any of the actual lightning timers in FMA. If they'd done this episode two or three years later I think Ed would've won under their new scaling practises and oneshot Aang before Avatar state.

Personally, I’d like to think that Okuyasu doesn’t flat-out erase people because he’s not normally a murderous person, so in a bloodlusted setting, he might do it, like he was attempting to do with RHCP. I'd actually argue Okuyasu knows when to actually get serious when erasing shit, like when he knew Kira's bubbles were an issue or when he wanted to kill RHCP (despite knowing if he did, they wouldn't know where the stand arrow was taken to). Also regarding ftl stands, I think by Part 4 Star Platinum had actually fallen out of use because Jotaro simply didn't use him for anything (like we know with his timestops). This would also correlate with how in Part 6, he had been working on SP so much that he got back up to 5 second time stops (and coincidentally SP was labeled as ftl). It's why he got surprised by Crazy Diamond's speed, despite later CD being unable to keep up with RHCP who moves as lightning. That, imo, is really the only place you could put The Hand by proxy.
