Did I say pollution? First global warming, now you can't even call it climate change anymore because its an absurd dichotomy; the climate isn't supposed to be static.
the first season isn't bad but all the attempts at becoming a heartfelt show with actual emotional moments fall flat and get worse as the show goes on because the only way to make the scenes happen at all requires almost every character doing a complete 180 of their usually nihilistic attitudes and as such will inevitably feel contrived.
Justin isn't even really writing or doing anything anymore he's really just voicing shit and I can't remember the last time something was obviously improved but it usually wasn't bad, in a random zany kind of way
I remember when this came out. You guys wouldn’t shut up about it. It was like the first season of South Park. You guys are fickle. Do you even know what’s good?
It isn't bad. It's just hard to understand why it became a cultural phenomenon when it did because it isn't nearly as funny or as intelligent as people think it is.
It pretends like it's edgy but isn't at all.
It pretends like it's novel, when everything it does has already basically been done by South Park and Family Guy (and usually done better).
Also the pozzedness, of course.
There was only one thing ever aired on Adult Swim that was actually counter-culture. It wasn't very funny, aside from a few sketches, but it was something different.
He has no reason because Xavier is blatantly about misguided New Age philosophy and has nothing to do with socialism.

Xavier is also a near endless stream of almost nonsense for 30 minutes straight. I really question the judgement of anyone who says there's a deeper, philosophical meaning to XRA.

I feel bad for you if you genuinely got filtered by Xavier, maybe watch it with subtitles on next time if you're an ESL? A majority of the jokes are not nonsense but wordplay based, you have to fully understand English to get it.

To be clear: I like XRA and I didn't say that I didn't understand the jokes. I said that XRA doesn't have deeper meaning.

it's the equivalent of the diarrhea mess i left in the toilet this morning becoming sentient and trying to convert people to diarrhea islam
it's funny and the worldplay is great but i'd call it diarrhea
The whole thing is a 'member berries show. >Hey, member this movie? We're doing it again!
Also, it constantly uses forced memes as a substitute for actual jokes. >Hey, look, a character repeats a quote in a funny voice! Now all our retarded fans will keep posting the quote and get upvotes!
It was funny for a bit but then it got too full of itself and the writers clearly didn't want to flesh out Rick's backstory but since they milked it long enough they finally had to reveal it.
The first season which was just silly nonsense was fun. Now its completely up its own ass and trying to up the intellectual ante with every single episode. You can't just have a funny episode where Rick gives the dog an IQ of 200 and tries in inception the principal to give Morty a good grade at math now. Now a new episode has to deconstruct the family unit and examine their intrapersonal dynamics, while simultaneously being meta and self aware of the audience watching it, and calling out the white male characters for their privilege, and while trying so fucking hard to hit all these things they have to throw in the "nothing matters dude nihilism" motif, and end on a sentimental Rick is so depressed and suicidal and he actually loves his family attempt to be like Jurassic Bark or Luck of the Fryrish. It reeks of desperation.
Even Pickle Rick, which just seems like a goofy episode idea, had to end with a literal therapy session where Dr. Wong effortlessly and savagely deconstructs Rick and knocks him down a peg in a bid to make the episode not just a goofy fun episode but a wubaluba dubb dubb Pickle Rick is actually the deeeeepest episode now, you guys!
it's too clever and it makes people upset when they are told they don't understand it and the people who do understand get upset because someone else got to explain it and sound smart and they didn't get to explain it and seem like the smart one.
It was pretty funny in the first season, then Dan Harmon decided it needed to be more than a goofy comedy and started putting in shit like joke-free ten minute scenes of the characters in therapy. By the time they finally dialed back on shit like that, all the writers had been replaced by women and the jokes weren't funny anymore
Season 1 was good. Season 2 was fantastic. It became mediocre since then, with the occasional hit. Season 4 and 5 had probably one great and 2 good episodes each.
I was wrong, I thought the Vat of Acid episode was season 5. Season 5 was awful. Season 4 at least had the Vat of Acid and the season opening was good too.
i don't care for the show too much in the first place, but the plot and cast of many later episodes revolve around the copies/alternates of the family interacting with each other.
Minor complaint but the science bit now is just awful. It was purposely bad at the start, but now they think they can explain to the viewer sci-fi concepts when they clearly have no clue?
I think I get it now: There’s a generation who grew up watching Rick & Morty and now that you’re young adults, you’re embarrassed by your childhood. It’s why you call everything “cringe”.
Being a cynical know it all type only works if you’re actually cynical and you actually know it all. The characters are not even portrayed as as being intelligent, they are a mouth piece for the writers to pretend their worldview is correct and le big brain man is on their side.
It was good at first because it was a silly show that used science as a plot device to tell whatever wacky story it wanted to and didn’t take itself seriously at all. It got too far up it’s own ass in trying to explain everything and deconstruct the characters and just sucked the fun out of it. When it did try to go back to wacky adventures it felt too forced and reeked of “lol random” humor.
it was good for the first season or two but at some point roilland brought on a bunch of female writers to prove... something?? to his EX-wife. completely putting aside how cucked that is - women aren't funny. this isn't a subjective point of view: it can be measured and demonstrated objectively by dozens of metrics. a comedy cartoon with writers that inherently cannot be funny is doomed to fizzle and fail.
Some of the magic is lost in S2. They have problems with shock value, kill value, although they have come up with some patch solutions.
I think a base problem is that the creative force behind the show realized he didn't hate the world as much as he thought he did. He actually gave a fuck, on its own way.
the new seasons are kinda mediocre. the only reason i still watch the show is because it’s fun posting in live /toon/ threads while an episode is airing.
Any attempt at "trying to say something deep" is the most basic angsty teen thoughts imaginable.
It can't decide if it's trying to be serious or not, so that makes the characters vary wildly in their behavior.
the writers are significantly lower iq than what rick is purported to be working with so that everything he does is cringe
This. Anytime Rick mentions Climate Science I roll my eyes.
Pollution is actually good for the environment libtards.
Did I say pollution? First global warming, now you can't even call it climate change anymore because its an absurd dichotomy; the climate isn't supposed to be static.
It's not funny
Burp hey Morty did you know a black man invented the comb. Don't believe what they tell you Morty.

The animation is not appealing, nor is the character design
It's not as bad as people make it out to be.
My main issues are:
1. The improv can be funny but Justin Roiland isn't great at it.
2. They'll beat every joke into the fucking ground. It's worse than Family Guy in this regard.
It's actually not bad. It's probably one of the better adult animation shows currently airing.
soulless
I hooked up with a bbc on grindr once and when I went to his house he was watching the Citadel episode

It isn't bad. It's just hard to understand why it became a cultural phenomenon when it did because it isn't nearly as funny or as intelligent as people think it is.
>hard to understand why it became a cultural phenomenon
Crazy now looking back. It's not a very re-watchable show
It pretends like it's edgy but isn't at all.
It pretends like it's novel, when everything it does has already basically been done by South Park and Family Guy (and usually done better).
Also the pozzedness, of course.
>counter culture
kek
There was only one thing ever aired on Adult Swim that was actually counter-culture. It wasn't very funny, aside from a few sketches, but it was something different.
Now is that Tim or is that Eric?
>It wasn't very funny,
World Peace was hilarious , fuck off
Does Xavier Renegade Angel qualify as counter-culture?
Xavier is anti-culture
Hardly. At its core, Xavier is fedora atheism by champagne socialist LARPers.
How so?
He has no reason because Xavier is blatantly about misguided New Age philosophy and has nothing to do with socialism.

It's not bad prove me wrong
it's good
season 6 when
every cunt in this thread will watch it too
Of course I will, I don't hate it.
>everyone is a weak consoomer with no agency like me... they just HAVE to be! otherwise...
I literally haven't watched since s2.
the last season came out years ago and I still haven't watched that
Season 1 was good. Season 2 was fantastic. It became mediocre since then, with the occasional hit. Season 4 and 5 had probably one great and 2 good episodes each.

That image came out while Season 2 was airing.

It's not funny. It's a dumb person's idea of intelligent humor.
Female writers turned into a parody of itself.
Lost itself in itself. Just watch any episode from season 1 of 2 and then any episode from season 5 and you'll get it
It was good at first because it was a silly show that used science as a plot device to tell whatever wacky story it wanted to and didn’t take itself seriously at all. Solar Opposites is immensely better
Star Trek: Lower Decks beats them both.
i made it to episode five, then dropped it when the ep opened like it was an npr piece on femoid representation.
You mean The Wall™

some episodes are watchable, mostly is regular to really shit writing, last season was really bad.
the new seasons are kinda mediocre. the only reason i still watch the show is because it’s fun posting in live /toon/ threads while an episode is airing.
>/toon/mblr chud
Disgusting.
just kind of got played out. but about a year ago i watched everything after season 2 and after a long rick and morty break it was nice.

not enough summer or beth fan service
this but with jessica wasnt she removed from the show for some stupid reason
I shit you not he turns himself into a pickle, unfuniest shit I've ever seen
the pickle incident was a fucking psyop.
reddit and atheism.
It's reddit AND atheism incarnate
Its a shitty multiverse version of a shitty movie series.
Now that the multiverse is truly unleashed for the series there is a lot of potential. Will they capitalize on it? Probably not.
