>Even at my age, I'm trying to figure out who I am >My passport is Pakistani, my roots are in India >And in between all of this is a border >There is a border marked by blood and pain >People are claiming their identity based on an idea some old Englishmen had when they were fleeing the country. >How is one to deal with that?
For hundreds of years Muslims in India had been calling for their own state/autonomous region. When the British relented control of India, they decided to grant this and the already mostly Muslim region would be Pakistan.
In the mass migration that followed The Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus decided to all use this as a chance to commit mass murder against the other groups. The new governments couldn't cope with it, shitloads of families were murdered. Of course they blamed the British for this, not themselves. It's easier to blame the evil Brits for giving them what they'd wanted than it is to accept that your own friends and relatives tried to murder as many people as they were able to, just because they could.
The idea that India and Pakistan would be a beautiful unified country were it not for the partition is just comical. There would have been a civil war and it likely would have been one of the bloodiest conflicts in history.
I thought this was bizarre, but also something that an insufferable Pakistani teenager would believe. They made it sound like the Partition was something the British forced on India, and not something the Indians and Pakistanis insisted on the moment Britain could no longer tell them not to
>We don't want to be ruled by you anymore! >Okay >NOOOO YOU NEED TO SOLVE ALL OUR PROBLEMS BEFORE YOU GO
As a Nazi I agree with progressives a lot but for different reasons.
The British didn't stop them hard enough, and since White people are the only humans with agency, they hold the responsibility.
As a leftist, I agree with nazis a lot but for different reasons. I think black and brown people should be sent to gulag (aka labour camps) since they're right wing conservatives (just look at their countries). And israelites should be publicly killed because they're the upper class bourgeoisies controlling the means of production and oppressing the proletariats
Its not that black and white, there is a lot of blame to go around on all sides but the Brits were not innocent here
Most of 20th century problems could have been avoided if the Brits had not recklessly created most of the borders in the middle east and the Indian subcontinent
The Indians didn't insist on it, the Pakis did. And the British were willing to listen because back then they actually looked somewhat kindly on Islam compared to Hinduism for being a monotheistic, Abrahamic faith. The Indian nationalists wanted a united multi-religious India. Its possible the situation also triggered British memories of Ireland, with the Muslims wanting partition from a majority Hindu state being analogous to Ulster Protestants in their mind. Add to that the fact some Indian nationalists were openly inspired by Irish republicans.
So honestly I've no idea why Paki Muslims would be complaining about partition. They demanded it and they got it.
They took it too far. This was just supposed to be a quirky diaspora show about superheroes. Once you bring real life conflicts into it that those ethnic groups still care about, the illusion ends
>This was just supposed to be a quirky diaspora show about superheroes
The explicit stated intent when the character was made for comics was to push back on Islamophobia and create a more diverse and inclusive Marvel universe. Don't you dare accuse Marvel of putting story ahead of ESG ratings ever again
I thought at first that it was pretty ballsy but stupid to even integrate such a dark historic event to a Marvel character
Then I remembered Magneto was a israelite with holocaust past and even that was pretty ballsy pf Marvel to give a well known villain such a dark historic backstory. However it did make the character more interesting and was well received by most people.
So I am willing to give this a shot for that reason
The difference is that no one is gonna side with nazis in the case of magneto. With this show though, blaming white people for everything that happened between India and Pakistan is inevitably going to anger people from both countries
It works for Magneto because it shows the hypocrisy in his actions and beliefs. This is just blaming whitey out of the blue
I dont really see it blaming whiteys but blaming UK specifically
USA is blamed for lot of turmoil in several middle eastern countries due to its involvement since the Regan era to the Biden era. USA may not be fully to blame but it does have to take significant blame for either starting the mess or making it worse
Yeah its gonna be difficult to make Magneto work in the modern era in live action at least. In the comics sliding time scale and mutation has been the answer but I dont know if MCU could pull that off
I wouldnt be surprised if they cast a brown Magneto and give him Armenian genocide backstory or something like that
Not really, when India and Pakistan was divided Pakistan had the better amount of available resources. Pakistan had more potential after the partition and was actually doing pretty well in the beginning
India struggled for a few decades but was able to find its own way. India is now poised to overtake UK to become the 5th largest economy in the world without UKs help
They also call the 1971 Bangladesh Genocide a "civil war".
The Islamists killed 3,000,000 and raped 400,000 Bangladeshi women. It's literally the worst genocide since the holocaust and made the Rape of Nanjing look like a minor incident. No British anywhere near that one to blame.
>The Islamists killed 3,000,000 and raped 400,000 Bangladeshi women
Good grief. How can anyone defend these savages?
Typical genocide by muslims, nothing to see here
Bengalis are also muslim. Pakistan and pre-Bangladesh fought, raped, and killed over language differences. Pakistan wanted everyone in the region to write and speak Urdu and Urdu only while pre-Bengalis wanted to keep their own language and history.
Maybe in the comics there can be a suspension of disbelief that that tiny mask can keep her identity a secret but it really doesn't work in live action.
context? what specifically happened?
>Even at my age, I'm trying to figure out who I am

oh my fricking god the Pakistani's FRICKING ADVICATOED FOR IT YOU MORONS, THEY WANTED IT TO HAPPEN IN 1947
There are many borders and countries fricked up by the Bri'ish, but this one is on them wanting to kill each other for religion, for sure

Yeah I don't think they'll be talking about muslims murdering people in this show. Blaming whites for shit is free game though.
I thought this was bizarre, but also something that an insufferable Pakistani teenager would believe. They made it sound like the Partition was something the British forced on India, and not something the Indians and Pakistanis insisted on the moment Britain could no longer tell them not to

So what makes you different from NatSocs? You want to be able to transition and still take it up the ass?
Of course. Nothing is ever minorities fault, even when its on their own terms, you must always find a way to blame le whites
Its not that black and white, there is a lot of blame to go around on all sides but the Brits were not innocent here
Most of 20th century problems could have been avoided if the Brits had not recklessly created most of the borders in the middle east and the Indian subcontinent
>moving goalposts
You’re coping. Sad!

Pakistanis aren't complaining about the partition, the diaspora writers of this show are because they're rootless libshits.
>We don't want to be ruled by you anymore!
>Okay
>NOOOO YOU NEED TO SOLVE ALL OUR PROBLEMS BEFORE YOU GO
Without know anything about it, I'm pretty sure they did.
British have nothing to do with them for awhile now. They still hate each other despite that.
They didn’t. Muslims wanted to separate
They took it too far. This was just supposed to be a quirky diaspora show about superheroes. Once you bring real life conflicts into it that those ethnic groups still care about, the illusion ends

Where do you think you are?
It works for Magneto because it shows the hypocrisy in his actions and beliefs. This is just blaming whitey out of the blue
the whole nazi thing doesn't work for Magneto anymore unless they give him extended life with his mutation
Yeah its gonna be difficult to make Magneto work in the modern era in live action at least. In the comics sliding time scale and mutation has been the answer but I dont know if MCU could pull that off
I wouldnt be surprised if they cast a brown Magneto and give him Armenian genocide backstory or something like that
they're not going to make the villain brown
>Armenian genocide
That happened before even the holocaust
They have rawanda and balkans to pick from
The Islamic conquest of India was one of the most violent and rape filled events in human history. The Brits saved India indirectly.
Not really, the Brits ran a train (Pun intended) on India after the Islamists were done
India would still be in the middle ages if it wasn't for the British
Not really, when India and Pakistan was divided Pakistan had the better amount of available resources. Pakistan had more potential after the partition and was actually doing pretty well in the beginning
India struggled for a few decades but was able to find its own way. India is now poised to overtake UK to become the 5th largest economy in the world without UKs help
>Muh GDP
>nation of 1.5 billion people set to have a larger economy than tiny island of 60 million people
Shocking development

The biggest error of colonization was not completely expulsing the native population before taking possession of the land.
native americans had the right idea, completely wiping out rival tribes before taking their lands.
What's up.
Not much, dawg.
Just vibin ngl senpai
Why arent they renaming the comic Ms. Pakistan?
holy cringe Batman
Maybe in the comics there can be a suspension of disbelief that that tiny mask can keep her identity a secret but it really doesn't work in live action.
Tfw superior Anglo men blamed for conflict predating the UK.
Why are you even watching this shit in the first place?
yeah, the British would never divide a country
