She is an inhuman because Iger didn't like Mutants at the time. Also it gives her a slight Kree/Captain Marvel connection.

Yes anon, Kamala has interacted with the Inhumans more than any Inhuman that isn't living in Attilan. Trained in Attilan. Was on an all Inhuman team in Secret warriors. The stormranger suit only worked on her because of her Inhuman genetics. She saved her dads life by giving him her stable Inhuman blood. Besides Wilson was a known Medusagay that wrote a oneshot about her early in her Marvel career. She brings up the Inhumans more in that book than she did Champions the team that Kamala the leader of. I swear it feels like that people that complain about Kamala being Inhuman haven't read her books.

Inhumans were meant to replace Mutants in comics as a frick you to Fox, but it didn’t take. The Inhumans show sucked, and Kamala was the only stand out because the publicity push she got was so big.

          Anonymous

No, that was just another Alonso-era attempt to push a replacement legacy character in his place by turning X-23 into the new Wolverine, while not taking the risk of actually getting rid of Wolverine entirely, Old Man Logan was alive in the present and a member of the X-Men for almost the entire time the present-day Logan was supposed to be dead. That's probably a big reason why the Return of Wolverine event didn't sell as well as it should have, he never really went away.

    >What was the purpose of making her an inhuman?
Marvel used to make characters mutants when they just wanted to sidestep origin stories and explaining why a character has powers. But being a mutant is a lot more tied to all that minority metaphor oppresion porn than it used to be decades ago, you can't just make a character from outside of the X-books a mutant anymore and ignore what the X-books are doing, plus Marvel tried to expand the Inhumans into a franchise that Ike wanted to replace the X-Men. So a lot of new characters from the 2010s are Inhumans for the same "we don't have to explain the origin" reason characters used to be created as mutants, but characters like Kamala and Moon Girl can just get on with their own books and their own lives without getting sucked into whatever the main Inhumans are doing most of the time, in a way they wouldn't be able to if they'd been created as mutants.

The only Inhuman royals who died in that story were Maximus and Triton (twice). The others are still alive, the deaths were mostly 'NuHumans' or Hickman's Cosmic Inhumans.

Yes they were. I'm sure they'll undo it, but the new city they made on the moon was completely wiped out. The Royals were the only Inhumans left, not counting Kamala and Moon Girl.

Most the Inhumans still live on earth. They didn't all move to space. Iso and whoever the frick else still lived in on new Attilan. For the most part nameless OC Inhumans got killed. Everyone taken out by Black Bolt was in a Vox suit so it's impossible to confirm who died.

I remember liking this series. It got a bit same-y with how they never explored her powers. Did they ever do anything other with her than make her hands and feet big?

      Anonymous

She could shapeshift like Mystique, but that got dropped quick because apparently such a power is for supervillains only. They also revealed that her mass is shared with all other Kamalas in time and space as a sort of borrowing system. One gains mass, another loses it, and so on.

No it wouldn't, it would have sucked her into the constant extinction and ethnostate storylines the X-Men books have been cycling between since the mid-00s, and had civilians constantly trying to kill her. She wouldn't work at all in her intended role if she was a mutant.

That's because she's with the Runaways, she's not living a normal life in the first place, so her being a mutant doesn't interfere with it. And to be fair, she was one of the last non-X-book mutants to be created before things went completely insane.

I've just read death of the inhumans and it was really dumb.
It makes a big deal out of Black bolt losing his power only for him to save the day by screaming anyway. Which btw was him killing all of the inhumans who were being mind controled beside two, which for some reason undid the mind control.

It was very stupid, even cates. So much so that people claim Cates changed story halfway through because of all the shit that doesn't make sense.
      >characters shown dead in the beginning are later shown to be kidnapped
Especially Triton who was fricking blown up
      >Royal family said Vox had all their powers and latter say he was only using teleport
How would they not be able to recognize their own powers
      >Book mentions how the prophecy has changed and Vox is introduced as the prophecy killer
      >he actually has nothing to do with the prophecy and they can mass produce the motherfricker
The story just stops making sense it was pointless twist that only made shit worse. It fails both as being a mean spirited genocide and as (john wick in space) which is what Cates described it as. It honestly could have been decent without the twist and just made Vox a major threat who wiped out several Inhuman cities, killed Lockjaw,Triton and Max. Let the rest of the family rescue Black Bolt instead of Pulling Bill out of nowhere because Cates's thor fetish and for godsake use Black Bolt's other powers.

Vox is made a big deal off in the firsts few issues where singlehandedly kills every body in Attilan and Karnak can't find a weakness in him.
But then in the latter issues, he's just one of many mass produced soldier, the likes of which Black bolt kills dozens at once with a scream after he's supposed to have lost his powers.
The series ends with a real sense of "that's it?"

          >Black bolt kills dozens at once with a scream after he's supposed to have lost his powers.
That was weird too. The First Vox survived a normal scream in the 2nd chapter. Yet a nerf'd version kills all the voxs in that room easily.

It's completely possible for a single individual Inhuman with a made up backstory can make them angry at Kamala or possibly infernal angry he got kicked off up Inhuman Island went on to same team as her or maybe just some inhuman angry at Miss Marvel for not being involved in Dead of the Inhumans. And The Marvel heroes who do keep secret identities do keep them for a very good reason see people away from attacking the family. Kamala already loved ones in danger because of enemies who knows about who she really is.

Part of the (failed) drive to replace the X-Men franchise with the Inhumans franchise, I suppose.

Meanwhile the X-Men have a successful movie franchise and like a dozen ongoing titles, while literally nobody cares about the Inhumans.

Disney intern, no one likes Inhumans on this board. You don't need to pull this kind of "damage control" over the show here.

Nothing in the op even mentions X-Men or mutant also people do like Ihumans even if you haven't had a phone up for them because you blame them for trying to replace the X-Men when the axe man was trying to be put under the rug years before the inhuman purse and X-Men never had less, comic book series then Inhumans even at the height of the inhuman push Also are Kamala was the mutant see what have been obsessed about being a mutant over her actual family which would have been bad for the book.

        >X-Men never had less, comic book series then Inhumans even at the height of the inhuman push
First off, punctuation, secondly, the X-Men have gotten special treatment for their line even when they're not performing up to spec compared to other titles and will always get shit printed while other books get put aside or cancelled. The victimhood mentality spread to the fandom when any other Marvel property dares more attention. Spider-Man is the only property they dare not challenge because Marvel typically isn't moronic enough to put the X-Men over Spider-Man, but even that isn't a guarantee, given what we've seen with the whole Moira fracas that happened recently.

      >Meanwhile the X-Men have a successful movie franchise
Had, not have. At it's peak it was always getting mogged by more successful, more popular superhero movies, it ended in underperforming movies then outright flops.

A royal family. Not every one of them is obsessed about being an inhuman before their own family. Some of them have quite developed and unique power you cannot easily apply to another Super person in the same franchise.

Which ones though? Medusa just has prehensile hair which often takes the form of discount Mr. Fantastic Powers. Black Bolt has Super Sonic Scream and/or Deatomizing Voice which other characters can do with powers and still talk. Maximus is just notJoker but a Telepath and there are way too many Mutant Telepaths as is. Quake is discount Rictor/Avalanche and Karnak is discount Edgy Iron Fist/Daredevil with his "Flaw-o-Vision".

          Anonymous

Controlling things like your Superhero power same as Mister Fantastic stretchy Powers you're stretching it way too far. Black Bolt is significantly more powerful than those guys with one trick ponies who can scream very loudly and not being able to talk is part of him As a leader and as a individual.Maximus is actually part of the family of the people he's off and going against and he's just crazy without being a total Psychopathic murderer 100% of the time. Also I don't believe that Iron Fist and Daredevil whatever given the chance to have super powers but didn't I did in order to gain the ability to see the flaws in thing and become Kung Fu Masters line debilities because the Iron Fist and Daredevil is echolocation us pure super powers also he's nearly ten years older than iron fist. You're just looking at superpowers and a bit of personality to say already covered.

          Anonymous

Reed and Medusa's powers aren't remotely similar. Black Bolt not being able to speak is part of what makes his set unique as well as the electron manipulation. Not to mention it not being actually sonic scream. Maximus has nothing in nearly nothing in common with joker especially since his crazy is played more to delusions of grandeur rather then. sociopathy. The only thing Karnak has in common with Iron fist and daredevil is using martial arts. Different abilities, personality, and setting. Those were piss poor comparisons. Also to add the the Inhumans and X-men were pretty different in the beginning. It wasn't until decades later when X-gene popped up and mutants started getting treated more like their own race that similarities arose.
