In the same amount of time it's taking them to make 8 episodes of Wednesday, they made 22 of Star Trek.

So was the Patriot but that was marginally better researched. Still had mistakes here or there but Braveheart is a fantasy movie about ginger Halflings made by a cokehead Bruce

I think its pretty clear that Mel was using a few facts and tent poles to prop up the revenge story he wanted rather than adhering to all the gay political workings Scotland was dealing with at that time, as well as making everything as stereotypical as possible since American schools teach frick-all about Scotland beyond some names, coats of arms, and wardrobe.

I guess that it will form an impression in their minds means nothing to Mel. Remember the Enigma film where the Americans captured the machine and cracked it despite not being in the war for another 2 years? A roman soldier with a wristwatch I can handle, comparitively. This stuff matters and reflects on the overall quality.

It's always like that, anon. I get you but it's never going to change. There is no incentive for them to care about accuracy when they pretend to do a biopic (in 20 years morons will seriously believe that Napoleon had cannons firing at the pyramids and broke the sphinx nose).
The best you can hope is that some people will get interested in the events/characters depicted and will read books about it instead of taking movies as historical facts.

Actors who are getting paid retirement money for one role should be able to shoot a 3 hour movie in the span of a normal 8 hour work shift.

Wow, Braveheart, our national hero, was gay. And when – you know – when I was talking about this in Edinburgh in the summer, people were going, ‘Well, why didn’t we know about that, you know? Why …?’ And the reason is ’cause the graffiti and the letters were written in Gaelic, so it wasn’t translated. And people are going, ‘Well, why wasn’t it translated? That’s just the ancient language of our nation, of the Scots. Why wasn’t it translated?’ Well, it wasn’t. What Gaelic actually was, was a very kind of highly evolved form of medieval Scottish homosexual patois. And the clue’s in the name if you look at it, right. Gae-lich. That means ‘gae’ – homosexual, gay – and then ‘lich’ is language or tongue. So Gaelic is literally the language of gays.

The scene with Brian Cox where he watches his dad's funeral will always get me. It feels so authentically medieval...and mythic. The soundtrack plays a big part in that obviously.
