That's because a lot of chicanos accept them in. I live in the ghetto, we have not a lot of asian people here, but the ones that are here associate with latinos because we don't shit on asians like black people do. Latinos are a lot more welcoming with asians and whites than blacks

The school that I went to it wasn't rare for an asian girl to date a latinos. Heck one asian girl who are really pretty and smart (by my school standards) was dating was a latino guy who was in his mid to late 20's while she was still in high school. They weren't really chicanas but some did talk a bit spanish when around latinos.
