Pretty much a standard sequel, does everything the first did just different setting
it was such an experience in theaters. they had the sound design down, where it was great even in a shitty old theater from the 1930s.

I watched Die Hard 5 in theaters and I haven't rewatched a Die Hard movie since then because the movie ruined the franchise for me. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to have a Die Hard movie take place outside of the US let alone in Russia/Ukraine? At least 4 had some pretty cool over the top action scenes.

It is indeed underrated. I think it suffers from being too similar to the first one though without any of the charm. I still watch it every chirstmas.

I do not regard Die Hard 2. Not "as canonical," even if that is effectively the same thing. I just do not regard it at all. I watch Die Hard and go straight to Die Hard 3.

Same with Predator 2, the original movies are much better but the second sequels are very underrated
