    >According to anonymous industry insider Can We Get Some Toast, Secret Wars is “setting up a soft-reboot to the entire MCU, kind of like what #TheFlash did for the #DCU. It’ll be a send-off for not only the entirety of the Fox-Verse, but the MCU that we’ve all grown to love. In the aftermath will be an All-New, All-Different MCU.”

lol the entire reason the MCU is failing is because they immediately shifted to young Avengers instead of exploring the decades worth of great material written before they even existed, and now they want to go all in on the reason they're declining?

      [...]
This is about the actors getting too old. They know the legacy characters are the only ones people want to see but they can't keep bringing back RDJ when he's pushing fricking 60.

The comics can keep the moronic sliding timeline going, the movies can't.

I think they want to put Fantastic Four and X-Men together with all the characters from phase 1 and 2 with new actors, but if they keep this woke agenda and hire only superstars Divas who refuse to stay in shape and wear certain costumes it won't work out, just follow the comics, but forget the woke disney marvel comics

Does this reboot mean the departure of actors who were in the mcu from the beginning like mark Ruffalo, Cris Hemsworth and Sam l Jackson?

          Anonymous

Hulk is a joke side character now, Hemsworth I thought wanted to retire and Jackson is probably like RDJ, extremely expensive.

          Brie larson stays or goes?

Rumors have said shes tired of the character because everyone hates Captain Marvel

Think about it, that story doesn't make sense. Being upset you have alzheimers makes sense. Being upset that some fortune teller says you have one thing that MAY contribute to you maybe getting Alzheimers in the far off future doesn't make sense.
But there may be some truth there. What do we know? That he looked at a genetic test and got upset at the results, later claiming the alzheimers bs story.

My opinion? Samuel Jackson is too old to do play action movies, Nick Fury is an 007, a John Wick and the reboot would be Feige's third chance to do what he never did, be faithful to the comics, if he had done this from the beginning of the MCU I believe it would affect Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Pixar in raising the standard, but it happened that the MCU made mediocre films and mediocrity reigned at Disney, I think it's time for the shareholders to take control

We've already had several send-offs to the Fox-verse, how many people really want yet another? Just let it die.

This X-Men always felt futuristic and way too impactful to exist in the "normal world" the Avengers live. It is better go forward with no Avengers at all.

about the indie thing, superhero movies will be used either as WW3 propaganda or as a narrative device for a aocietal issue i.e the auperhwroe himself won't be the thematic focus of the film.
I imagine new era superheroe movies adhering to their respective genres more, too. Like a 2040s Batman would take place in a literal noir setting in the 1920s (with some bat gadgets being duturistic)

It would be a dumb idea for them to drop one of their tentpole billion dollar franchises for the sake of a franchise whose movies haven't been as popular or successful. They need to reimagine the X-Men to fit into the MCU, not reimagine the MCU to fit the X-Men.

it's a reboot that doesn't erase from continuity everything that happened before. it's essentially what Star Wars did when TFA came out, with new Rebels (now the Resistance) vs the new Empire (now the First Order) and with a new Death Star (the Starkiller Base).

It's this. Replacing Iron Man with a Black person or Thor with a woman isn't really an option either with how much goodwill Disney burned on the brand. The only conceivable option is to just wipe the slate clean and bring in the properties they now own (F4, X Men). Whether they can do it without ruining shit again with DEI stuff remains to be seen. Personally I think in the next few years superhero movies are going to go the way of the western or the classic action movie: gone for a couple decades except for indies and foreign films before being brought back in a subversive way. It's happened to every major film genre before, it'll happen again.

There is no future of israeli wizards ruling forever over brown cattle.

They think there is, but there isn't. In all of history they have never achieved lasting power without white benefactors, white protectors, a white society. They need the one thing to exist to destroy. Absolute best case scenario they will breed a race that can't be guilted, that is too stupid and too violent to be threatened, too sociopathic and too brain damaged to even remember a deal, much less honor it. There will be no one to fuel the jets, no one to run the power plants, no one to maintain the roads. The israelites are poor fighters, poor organizers, their one and only talent is parasiting off of whites, exploiting the machinery whites build even while they run it to ruin.

The israelites will scream and cry that it's not their fault while their own brown slaves tear them open and roast them over fires kindled with vandalized works of art.

So after the failure of Phase 4 and the start of 5, they are teasing a 'soft reboot' meaning they can change their 'connected universe' however they want with zero story consequence. Granted they haven't gave a shit about continuity since Thanos passed away.
Clearly the OG Avengers cant stay forever, the ones they kept though have been ruined and their replacements are all non-white or women.. curious. They aren't written well, exist to undercut the OG team and their actions have fricked the continuity.

Rushed through a lot of material because they just need another 'big bad guy', frick origin stories and world building

      [...]

The comics can keep the moronic sliding timeline going, the movies can't.

Both of these are true too

Probably the smartest move now that everyone anyone cares about is dead or retired

What will almost certainly happen is the first Avengers movie will tease this reboot, leaving it up in the air for who comes back and dies. They will make their slaves create 100 different scenarios and play it by what characters will be the most profitable to keep, then just write the finale around that. Either way they are keeping non-whites and women at the center, and white men left (except for spiderboy) will be punching bags

Shared continuity between a bunch of different writers all adhering to parent company demands was a mistake. A novelty that somehow barely manages to extend the life of an industry long after it has worn off, but a mistake. You're seeing how the burden of all these different creatives working on projects simultaneously is rapidly making the MCU collapse because they just had to keep going beyond a couple of epilogue movies. People went from having their minds blown by something like Civil War being possible to actively resenting the shared continuity for its affect on Guardians 3.

The writers firgure it out as they go along, with zero coordination with other writers. The studios mandate x amount of fight scenes, x amount of girlboss moments, x amount of social messaging. None of this is about shared continuity of themes, its about getting to the big ensemble product.

Young isn't the right word but it's true, ever since Endgame they've basically thrown the Avengers in the closet in favor of new blood, the few OG Avengers still around get ensemble flicks used as vehicles to promote new female characters.
        >Doctor Strange 2 introduces America Chavez and gives plenty of focus to Wanda
        >Thor 4 promotes Valkyrie and Jane Foster (sorta)
        >Hulk only shows up to promote She-Hulk
        >Hawkeye introduces Kate Bishop
They blew their load by killing off Tony Stark and Steve Rogers and "solving" Hulk's issues. There's nothing to be done with those characters anymore so they've been meandering trying to find any actors that can prop up the franchise. Only because of their woke mandate they refuse to find a strong male actor that can bring in the crowds like RDJ could. Spider-Man is their one good thing cause the brand is so strong but their lead isn't ideal.

I'm just expanding on what the other anon said about how they immediately shifted to other characters instead of using their built-up actors and the decades of material those characters come with. It was probably the right move to kill them off cause Infinity War/Endgame felt like a capstone but it also had the effect of essentially soft-killing the MCU since the franchise had its ending already.
            >You smell like a DC homosexual.

After Star Trek and Avatar, Zoe Saldana wanted to stop being stuck in long movie contracts and asked Gunn to kill her off in 2. He was for it but Feige blocked it so she could be in Infinity War/Endgame, which obviously resulted in her dying but coming back in her pre-GotG form where she has no relationship with anybody. I don't think Gunn officially commented on Adam Warlock, but he was likely something Gunn left for them to use in Infinity War/ Endgame, but since he wasn't, and Gunn wasn't going to stick around anymore since he's with DC, he likely had to shove that in and resolve it.

Hence the multiverse. Not that it matters. Look, early MCU movies succeeded where most comic adaptations failed for one reason alone. They kind of kept it close to the source material at a point in time on which the source material was not absolute trash.

Then they started to diverge from it and bite more than they could chew and now even the source material are trash because contemporary culture sucks. In short the goose of the golden age died. There is absolutely no point to the MCU without the original actors and adapting stories that nobody really cares about.

I support this. Who says a character has to be tied to an actor? When an actor is done with a role let someone else play them. Just make good stories about those characters that aren't all interconnected and about stuffing as many big names on scree. As possible. Kinda like James Bond.

Of course they are going to do this, but if they rush it they will end up fricking up the entire series.

what else can they do with it? everyone hates the new characters, they can't sell tickets, they have no interesting dynamics built up. It's a complete shitshow. Unfortunately, disney can only win by also firing everyone at marvel and starting over there as well. Same people who fricked up 20 films and tv shows aren't going to magically pull gold rabbits out of their asses. They need a fresh slant, different world, no more origin stories, no more wild straying from the comics unless you're doing shit like joker with smaller budgets, competent people, etc.

I don't see how this is going to work with so many terrible writers under disney's employ. Would probably be more cost effective to sell it off to sony.

doubtful, cause fans will rage. if marvel isn't careful and learn the lessons from disney/dceu it will crash and burn hard.

    what might (and should) happen:
half and half (616 universe and the other half from the new reboot universe) take part in secret wars. when it ends, have it end with a proper send off to the 616 characters and a passing of the torch to the new 'reboot' universe. that way if things don't go well, marvel/disney can still make 616 movies/tv shows/cartoons to keep the fans happy if the new reboot mcu movies/tv shows don't perform as well.

that way original mcu universe still exists and still make money for marvel/disney.

I don't think people care about these big superhero crossover movies and extended universes anymore. if you're gonna do superheroes just give us a story about individual heroes and their character development. normie audiences are totally burned out with these big live action extended universe movies with huge casts and overarching plotlines. just give us a fun, mildly escapist movie about people. Look at DC. The Batman was a great film and audiences loved it. They are not going to love another attempt at DC Universe-building.

What do you think Secret Wars is going to be? It's how they merged the Ultimate Universe and the Main 616 Universe. It dealt with incursions, Dr. Doom creating Battleworld which was an amalgamation of all the different universes, and then a rebirth of the multiverse.

Avengers Secret Wars is going to be the multiverse (Disney and Fox) collapsing on itself and then basically rebooting. Instead of Battleworld they'll use that area where pruned universes went in Loki.

They'll be able to cherry-pick characters they want to keep, and recast them as they see fit. They'll also be able to start over without having to explain how mutants and the Fantastic Four ended up on Earth. Collapsing the multiverse and then soft rebooting it is how Secret Wars happened in the comics, and it's how it'll happen in the MCU.

90% of the Marvelgay formula is getting them to watch entire TV shows for tiny snippets of setup that may pay off two phases and three movies from now. If they trash the current universe that will destroy all viewer faith in the already low return on investment of Marvel media.
