I assume this is part of that "not-Wakanda" multi-media franchise Disney announced years ago and we've heard absolutely nothing about since.

      This isn't Iwaju.

Everybody keeps making Africa out to be futuristic when Asia is now coming to the Africa's to take on the low-wage manufacturing jobs.

diversity only means the presence of black people, so a monocultural 100% homogenous show is fine when it's blacks, anon.

That said I'm glad there's for once an original show, instead of inserting blacks into white (culture inspired) folklore or settings. This looks pretty cool imo

Because they're ten stories of the future from Africa.

Won't Africa in the future be so incredible that it brings in economic migrants from all over the world and becomes gloriously diverse?

I dunno man, watch the show and find out. Maybe the entire world is the future is so incredible, no one wants to move anywhere.

You guys get so mad about things you know nothing about, lmao

Ok, you're not mad that its a show with a bunch of black people. People on Cinemaphile are never mad about these kinds of things, they just like to ask questions, my bad. I guess the answer is watch the show and find out then. I'm sure you will because people on Cinemaphile actually watch stuff and definitely don't just b***h about things they think are part of some kind of culture war.

Your images are faintly annoying but not enough to make me mad

NTA but I haven't been mad that shows have a bunch of black people, I've been mad that creators have a compulsion to force-insert black people into european historical settings, folklore, historical situations, as if it's normal there's like 50+% of nonwhites in a north euro village in the 1800s because muh diversity. Or as if "diversity is important" but yet somehow mainly (historical) euro stories or culture matters the most, so the "answer" is pretending that these areas have always had significant nonwhite populations.
(And yet, stories taking place in "diverse" or "poc" societies get to have 100% homogenous region- and era-accurate populations without any reeeeeeeing about "lack of diversity". It's hypocritical, and frankly racist.)

However, if it's necessary to have black representation, I would infinitely more see usa/Disney creators FINALLY turn their eye to the impressive wealth of African folklore and cultures, instead of endlessly stripmining euro culture - but just blackwashing it.
Just hopefully don't make any "based on a true story" historically blatantly revisionist shit either.

So, this show seems to be exactly what I've hoped for black representation to look like for a long time. I'm relieved, frankly. I hope it's successful.
