Lmao what is up with that dude getting fucking decimated by everyone, he's supposed to be one of the strongest but gets deleted by everyone. It would have been nice to see him go up against a team of the weaker sorcerers before he got taken out.
It wasn't as a bad as I thought it would be.
The protag is quirky but she has flaws and isn't a girl boss
The villain is the best character in the movie and even turns into the snow white mirror at the end.
The side characters are supposed to be based off of the 7 dwarfs and they are dicks to the villain at the start.
There was plenty of homages to other Disney works.

Gotta agree OP, should have gotten some video.
I am a legal attorney representing the Disney Corporation. You must take this link down immediately; failure to comply is a violation of copyright law. Criminal penalties can include fines and/or imprisonment and depend on the seriousness of the infringement.
Here to say that this trend of "brown girl going on adventure" thing is really fucking lame. A Lord of the Rings-sequel adaption of the Bone books was being planned some time back, make something like that. Not another attempt to force another ethnic Disney princess.
Ehhh really? I think considering how recent it was they did a pretty good job keeping overtly woke themes out of it, but akwafina as the dragon was a terrible move and all of her scenes were a constant reminder that it was a nu-disney production. It can always get worse though ho boy
No, it's about not depending on someone else to grant your wishes, but make your own wishes come true. (this will be reflected in decreased guest service experience at Disney properties and self service kiosks)

Are you fucking kidding? Those fucking non-binary designs, one of the nations being a matriarchy, the fact that it was all blacks and asians? That pile of crap was pozzed as fuck.
is the script based on something from folklore or is this disney inventing their own folklore? they have very few movies that arent based on some 3rd party mythos, and it looks like we've been cheated out of some kind of middle eastern themed star-gazer cult kino and sold some new york bronx black girl with corn rows wishin apawn a stah fo dat guuci bag

It's a bunch of gnostic ideology put in a blender and shat onto an Iberian setting with extra diversity on top
Based schizos. I think they're on to something, the themes there DO seem to build on the same principles that occultists enjoy, I've looked at some LoA types and it's all the same shit too. Plus I was in this cult bookstore once and found this creepy children's book that said "The reason people have eyes is so that the stars can see themselves". This reminded me of that. I'm going to manifest physical health and a bigger dick now thanks to Disney's encouragement.
The summary: >blue-eyed white man controls all people's wishes because controlling them all makes white man powerful. But behold the power of diversity-town overcomes king honkey for victory because we're all made from stardust!
How many losses does Disney have to get handed before they stop this shit?
What you described could be from an older classic disney movie even, they have always been "woker" than the current norm, its only recently that they've fallen off a cliff, and I have no doubt this movie will also have fallen down that same cliff, but for other reasons than what you've described
From the trailers it seems like the King is supposed to represent God, an all powerful man who made the world and grants (some) wishes, so a story in which God is the villain makes the story Luciferian in concept. Not the first time for Disney.
I don't know if I'm too retarded to understand a book for kids but that's it? Asha goes to the king, and when he rejects Sabino's wish, who is probably like one of the 10000s of people in the kingdom she decides she's gonna grant the wish herself? I didn't hear the audio, what's the lesson of the movie?
at the end of the day, we're all made of stars, and can grand our own wishes... plus Asha has a star wand to grant wishes too? Also, a wish is a physical thing that can be kept from you if you give it away? It's a mess.
Yep, that's the moral of the story: If a king rejects to grant whatever you ask of him in your first meeting, stage a coup against him, doom him to a fate worse than death and keep all his power. That's what he gets for ruling a prosperous kingdom!
So Asha's wish "to make something that will inspire others" sounds a lot like Disney's wish given their recent track record of trying and failing to push the woke agenda and not being able to produce culturally significant new content that turns people into fans. Even Wish sounds like it's trying its utmost to be inspiring with the combined willpower of an entire committee and just falls flat.
It seems they're not going to ignore the amount of israelites who lived in the Iberian peninsula (and were the ones responsible of letting the muslim hordes conquer Spain and Portugal).
Just got done listening to it. What a bunch of fucking garbage. This is Raya tier except with some decent songs.
Awful screenplay. Rushed pacing (the runtime is sub 80 minutes, what the fuck), no time for anything to settle in or breathe. At most minutes between songs.
Villain makes no sense and there's no sense of danger or urgency. Cringeworthy humour. No development for Asha or any side characters.
Poorly defined conflict, the king did nothing wrong the entire time, Asha's an entitled self important cow.
It's also riddled with that abominable LOL QUIRKY vibe, zero sincerity or any indication they wanted to appeal to adults as well as ADHD kids.
Strange World was legit a more cohesive whole than this. Superficially attractive but it's dead inside. What a disaster. Disney ought to be ashamed that this is how they're choosing to celebrate Walt's legacy.
>Poorly defined conflict, the king did nothing wrong the entire time, Asha's an entitled self important cow.
can you expound on this?
im still listening but im trying to figure out a game i can adhd play so i can focus on the audio while i play.
>tracking to open 50M+ across a five day weekend >This puts it in the bottom of the top 50 openings, most of which were three or four days
So this is gonna bomb for the 100 anniversary huh? Amazing.
Honestly, it’s filled with way more fanservice than I could have thought, I genuinely loved the villain, the story is better than every movie they’ve made since tangled. I really liked it,
Plus during the credits you see the main character of every single Disney animated film in chronological order. Which was fun
>Disneymoms
These are the real powerbrokers.
They're the ones who decide what merch to buy the kids. They're the ones who decide whether or not to buy the home release and the CDs. They're the ones who book the trips to Didney Worl to get the princess' autograph.
If Disney lose the Disneymoms, Disney lose.
Pretty bland, all the boring "quirky" garbage you get from Disney now a days. The lesson is to stop depending on the king and to pursue your own wishes yourself, which is a fine message but the way to get to it is so forced and hamfisted I can't take it seriously. When you "make a wish" to the king he gets to keep it in a physical form, which I guess means you lose literally all motivation to pursue it yourself because you are so dependent on the king and you don't have the wish orb. The king only grants a couple of them, and keeps the rest to keep everybody dependent on him because he's a control freak. However, the main character "steals" wishes from the king and returns them to the wishers, which I guess gives them their motivation back to pursue it themselves, but why couldn't they just do it themselves once they learn their wish won't be granted? Having the wishes be physical things is clunky, and is only there to create a problem that should be much easier for the towns people to solve on their own. Make a wish, understand that not every wish get's granted and continue to pursue the wish on your own because of this. Since they need a problem they have to shoehorn in the physical wish orbs.
Not really, I'm not a history buff but they were emphasizing that the land was very diverse and would allow people from all walks of life to come. Maybe Al-Andalus was like that? I only listen but I assume all the visuals and architecture looked like Moorish stuff so maybe the animators had a hard on for that.
>they were emphasizing that the land was very diverse and would allow people from all walks of life to come.
Occupiers have a habit of doing that, just look at the likes of whites going to Canada and Australia, becoming the majority, and then claiming the country is very diverse.
Can you imagine Disney making Pocahontas like this, the Governor being the good guy and saying he has come to create diversity?
It wasn't diverse. It was an elite of the arab conquerors ruling the natives. But americans, especially american blacks, love to say al andalus was diverse and that moors were black so that's why they picked that setting.
He's the only likeable character of the movie. The idiots at Disney rejected all the good ideas they had and made the most forgetable generic shit they could.
>posting your hand

stop turning dragons into people

I will forever remember this movie as the impetus for Lindsay Ellis getting kicked off the internet and becoming a mother.

Raya was very qt and the visuals were great. Those were the movies' only two redeeming qualities.

let me guess, the kings is a toxic white male?
The king went insane after using black magic for the first time.
>black magic
Also, the MC and her friends bullied a fat dude to the point that he sold them to the villain.

Honestly, Wish seems like a fun movie, I'll take the family to see it, should be a good time.

don't people laugh at you bringing a waifu pillow into a theater?
This sounds like Encanto and Coco had a black girl baby on Saturday Morning ABC.

The thread was posted 2 hours ago so didn't anyone actually listen to the whole thing?
Almost done
The dumbest thing so far is that the wishes are physical things that can be kept/stolen.
Honestly, it’s filled with way more fanservice than I could have thought, I genuinely loved the villain, the story is better than every movie they’ve made since tangled. I really liked it,
Plus during the credits you see the main character of every single Disney animated film in chronological order. Which was fun
>MEMBER WHEN
i tried but it made me wanna pierce my ears
Critics are posting their early impressions on X and it is not looking good. Disney might have another bomb on their hand.
Kids' movies are critic proof
Oh no, not another bomb! How will Disney ever recover hint: BlackRock money
ESG has been shuttered because israelites discovered they actually like hoarding money.
Doubtful. They'll keep doing it but it won't have a name like ESG.
When was the last time Yidney got any money from them?
What? I only see good impressions so far
The Disneymoms were shitting on it on normie tok for the past month because the villain song is bad apparently.
They are also mocking the evil laughter
Well, there is also the Disney Adults, but that's a risky market.
I think I'll wait for the porn
She only has one porn pic
so the movie is black coded or not?
Pretty bland, all the boring "quirky" garbage you get from Disney now a days. Was the movie woke?
Were the characters annoying?
>woke
The important characters were mostly women, and the whole cast is racial diverse but that's about it.
>annoying
Yes
Were the songs good at least?
They were fine, the ones that were ok were pretty generic, and the ones that were bad very bad. Like this one
You can really tell it was written by a 30 year old Womanchild.
at least it's not as bad as the one from the little negress movie where the chain-smoking asiatic starts rapping, but this is just awful
Why does it feel like this was written by an ESL? The lyrics feel awkwardly crammed into the melody and the stress is on random syllables
too brown lad
So was there any reason for it to be set in Moor-occupied Spain?
Not really, I'm not a history buff but they were emphasizing that the land was very diverse and would allow people from all walks of life to come. Maybe Al-Andalus was like that? I only listen but I assume all the visuals and architecture looked like Moorish stuff so maybe the animators had a hard on for that.
>they were emphasizing that the land was very diverse and would allow people from all walks of life to come.
Occupiers have a habit of doing that, just look at the likes of whites going to Canada and Australia, becoming the majority, and then claiming the country is very diverse.

It wasn't diverse. It was an elite of the arab conquerors ruling the natives. But americans, especially american blacks, love to say al andalus was diverse and that moors were black so that's why they picked that setting.
None what so ever. Could've told the same story anywhere in the world with same result.
j*wish subversion
>The lesson is to stop depending on the king
>The movie's mediocre success relies heavily on the king.
Mixed messages right there, Disney.
Is the King really that interesting as a character? I have the feeling people here are vastly overselling him.
As a villain he is horrible, as a character? Above avarage.
The rest of the cast is just too shit
Why do you think critics are giving mixed reviews? It seems like the typica anti-christian anti white girlboss fantasy leftists love
He's the only likeable character of the movie. The idiots at Disney rejected all the good ideas they had and made the most forgetable generic shit they could.
Holy shit.
One's way easier to turn into a plush and slap on merch. I look forward to that star being the new layer of landfill in a year.
I bet they'll get rich selling Asha's dolls.
Don't they know kids are obsessed with magical boys?
Boys are dumb and love interests aren't welcome anymore.
That's crazy because online shipping culture is wild.
Eh, I don't know if the former version was better. The Star-Wizard is basically just Aladdin's Genie but handsome.
ugh yeah a little plushie is so much more interesting and less cliche
Both ideas are crap, it should have been a magic wand and that's it.
No, everyone would have gone insane about a disnefied Little Prince. He would have been an instant favourite just like Magnifico.
It would have been the same crap as with Kristoff. Just an accessory for the female protagonist, and that's it.
you’re a feminist stfu
why does that exist?
rule 34 of the internet
Because you wished it.
Motherfucker
the pacing is pretty fast It went from introducing the king less than 10 minutes in and already have him be the antagonist
>brown woman with freckles
yep i'm thinking it's gooning time

disney has nothing to worry about

how do you even get invited for these
you'd have to pay me to watch it

The fact the Wish is set in a diverse utopia and people STILL aren't happy and need to make more wishes says a lot....
At least it's an original movie and not a live action remake.
Why doesn't Disney simply make good movies instead?
too late, they're infected to the core by ESG and DIE
