Do all modern super suits really need these stupid intricate patterns all over them?

I agree
why is Shazam Patrick Warburton
Peak Patrick would have been a great Captain Marvel back int he 90s.
He did play Superman in that Seinfeld credit card ad.
What the hell
Sexoooo
Mr. Mime?
Marvelbros... are we ugly.
Well I'll argue if they didn't have anything to hide they wouldn't be covering themselves from head to toe.
For magic suits, I'd say yes, intricate patterns behaving like written spells protecting the body makes sense when you're a magical construct surrounding and defending a mortal being.
you filthy filthy coomer thank you
It's really just Shazam that's overdoing it in DC
With these specific ones, it helps them feel more like a magical sort of Greco-Roman armor, it looks strong and resilient.
On the whole though, I'd rather they dialed it back, I feel like Raimi Spider-Man was the furthest "normal" costumes should go without there being a reason for the extra detail.
I'd take a colorful yet overly detailed suit over the dull tacticool shit though
neuron activation
definitely built for the magic of Wizard
Blame Marvel.
I thought the first one that did it was MoS
Nope
Well, if you're gonna do that, Raimi's Spiderman had a brick pattern all over it and the raised webbing.
it was subtle though and looked smooth to the touch
the undersuit Shaq wears in Steel (1997) is also prominently textured, as is the S on Superman's suit in Superman Returns (2006), as was the Demon Batman suit used in the hallucinations in Batman Begins (2005)
the suits worn by the Power Rangers in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie in 1995 weren't textured, but were noticeably higher quality than the Sentai inserts the show normally featured, having armor plates blended to the color of the ranger suits instead of just being pantsuits with helmets
The Phantom (1996) wore a suit which was both textured and patterned within the texture, though it was subtle and most people likely saw it on low-def tv screens if at all
Star Kid (1997) wasn't textured... exactly.. but did have some weird fuckin aesthetics
Hancock (2008) is patterned but not textured - his suit is leather over a flexible fabric, which allows the actor to wear it for longer without overheating (fewer breaks in filming), while still providing protection for stunt performers; it's similar to a lot of tv suits like CW's The Flash
what OP is really asking is "why are they all wearing neoprene" and the answer is "because neoprene is breathable, flexible and hard wearing" and the textures are probably a combo of visual distinctiveness, breaking up large areas of single-color, and it being easier to attach shapes - emblems, other colors of neoprene - if the substrate is textured for the glue to stick to
you could hand-texture just portions of it, but this would be difficult to do until after the suit was made and difficult then for other reasons; basically, it just comes from factory with or without designs embossed, like any other fabric
>the suits worn by the Power Rangers in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie in 1995 weren't textured, but were noticeably higher quality than the Sentai inserts the show normally featured
>higher quality
>were actually constantly degrading and falling apart during production
You can see the torn crotch in this promo card.
no, he's basically wearing assless chaps there; they're hung over the actual pants rather than attached, because it's easier to tailor that way and nobody's gonna notice while he's doing his shitty kung fu
No, dude, the suits were shit (at least in terms of construction quality). The cast talk about how they had to tape them together during filming just to get scenes done.
You forgot to add in Minecraft.
That doesn’t work anymore bro.
>in Minecraft.
>land of the free
>land of free means anarchy
idiot
retards that don't understand what a threat is
anon I think it's called common sense being diluted by constant retardation exposure
Ah yes, you should be able to list detailed threats towards your local sheriff
Is there a name for when people live on the INternet for so long that they lose touch with the concept of real-world consequences and how they fit into real life society? Death Threats have always been serious bussiness, Internet or not.
the term you're looking for is "/pol/tard"
>white genocide is real and it's all the garden gnomes fault
They should’ve said in fortnite
It's "in Terraria" now.
Most fit and attractive 4chancel
How do you get arrested for online threats? So many Twitter users should be locked up daily for some of the shit they say related to certain politicians if that was the case
And I thought Amerisharts were anti-police anyway
>And I thought Amerisharts were anti-police anyway
The smart ones are. Chuddies however are neither
The Right goes muh sheepdogs muh heroes and it costs the Left nothing to say fuck the police from behind a line of police protecting them.
Same, but I want to do it in Stockholm Syndrome style.
Geoff Johns and Jim Lee are to blame, the Prussian suit has better textures
b-but then we can't submit our movie for Best Costume Design
sometimes it's necessary, but yeah, they overdo it
I read a post here a while ago where one anon claimed it makes it easier to render believable CGI versus spandex. I have no idea how credible that is though.
Yes, other wise they just look cheap and most audience members won't take them seriously. Look at the Old Loki or Stage-show Captain America
Or that episode of WandaVision.
Those were intentionally made to look shitty as a joke, though
It’s a way for costume designers to stay relatively true to the original costumes while creating enough visual interest that they don’t look like they’re running around in a costume from Spirit Halloween. The texture helps make it feel less cartoonish
This. Sometimes they overdo the textures but no texture at all will make it look cheap. Imagine a Batman movie coming out today with the Adam West costume
If Adam West weren't dead I'd expect a cameo in The Flash.
Aw, man...
That would've been cool. You know he would've done it.
Him or Reeve.
>Tfw we will never get a COIE movie with him as Earth 2 Superman
>implying an actor being dead would stop them
Adam West pulls it off because of his built, any actor can pull off a costume by how they act and how they're built, look at John Cena as Peacemaker.
Peacemaker's costume is also textured
Peacemaker had more subtly than
and
Just look at the main symbols, peacemakers dove isn't textured while the shazam family are all lightning bolts within lightning bolts, its textured for the sake of being textured while Peacemaker really hit a good balance with his costume.
The texture of peacemaker's costume just looks like a consequence of the fabric they used. The Shazam suits look embossed.
If it looks like something you could make at home, people are going to feel like its cheap and say it looks like crap.
Which is really funny because something like Spiderman's costume should look like crap.
The Homecoming costume was a pretty cool homemade look. I except Scarlet Spider could be done justice while looking low budget as well.
>Deleted
Bro the feds already got him
It probably photographs better than simple fabric
This is state of the art, also in animation. Hex patterns / honeycomb used to be all te rage but now some experiment with more fancy stuff. I don't think iut works well, unless half the purpose was to strain the video codec.
Yes. It makes them look less TV-tier.
I'm going to be real here: /toon/ is straight up autistic, responds well to flat boring colors, and has zero idea on how fabrics work.
You think the tacticool doesn't look boring?
That term has become fucking meaningless and not even used right in most contexts. This isn't tacticool
was she always this fucking thick?
Were you?
I WANT HER TO FUCK BLACK MEN
it's crazy that you had a mother and father that were in charge of raising you
All things considered, they've done a terrible job.
Texture is good! It makes it more interesting to light.
You're right, Mary needs to wear nothing.
>wears sheer mesh dress
>puts on some kind of adhesive to cover nips
WHATS THE FUCKING POINT THEN?
>Do all modern super suits really need these stupid intricate patterns all over them?
they do it because the people making the movies think simple spandex suits look stupid.
I guess the in universe explination is that they are made of fancy polymers and meshes like how tank armored plate is made now.
>4chancels are getting more self-aware but not necessarily smarter
Because without the texture it looks cheap.
There has to be a middle ground between "made by experts craftspeople over hundreds of hours" and "bought for $29 on clearance from last year"
Yes, but that's also looks uglier than intricate costumes.
The Batfleck suit is that perfect middle ground
Most swimsuits are close fitting and normally without texture, and can be decent without looking cheap.
That's on a girl though. They naturally have more curves and stuff to keep it interesting. Most guys are not built like the Rock.
>They naturally have more curves
I chose a Japanese model to avoid the Dolly Parton territory.
>and stuff
What is this?
>to keep it interesting. Most guys are not built like the Rock.
Often they pad out the biceps. And I wouldn't put it past them to pad a moose knuckle.
>a fellow swimsuit conneseur I see...
Just an appreciator of the finer things in life, who just so happens by total coincidence to recognize that swimming pool.
Now as a contrast, I submit a case with some texture, "broken glass," according to the purveyor of fine textiles.
a fellow swimsuit conneseur I see...
Uoh
irl more expensive materials that serve multiple different functions have texture so you associate it with sturdiness, quality, and function in your brain which is what they are trying to signify these costumes represent.
Because its cool
